Ronda runs a tight ship, but this results in The Barn being a well-functioning, sociable and clean hostel and campsite. All the staff were very friendly, all the basic amenities were there. The kitchen was a little small and very busy at meal times, although the large benches and tables give it a community feel when everyone sits down to...

Nice views, clean chalets and amazing location. Situated next to the Abel Tasman and sits end of one of the most popular walking tracks. We ended up here due to availability more than anything else and we were so glad we did, because the area is beautiful (less town like than motueka). There are two big shared kitchens but we...

We are an older couple travelling with a small tent, we checked out the other sites and decided that the barn was best suited to us for size and location. It's very much a young persons site and the camp kitchen reflected this. Showers are great clean and hot. The site is minutes from the start of the main track,...

I stayed there for 3 nights in a mixed shared bedroom and had really a good time. The room was clean and everything looked new. There was only one bunk bed in the room and the rest of us had a normal bed. The kitchen was big enough for all the people but only had one toaster (why?). Toilets and...

Arrived here on the Stray bus in January, and was really pleasantly surprised with the shared accommodation. Rooms were big, beds were comfortable and the whole area was just beautiful! The staff here were amazing and super friendly. The kitchen area did get a little crowded at dinner time, and the showers did also get really busy at peak times....

Positives: many individual showers, parking, location (excellent), sports facilities, friendly people. Negatives: no dry areas in shower rooms so basically have to get your kit off outside in the campsite then enter with no items, can be quite noisy, campsite lost our booking (but still managed to find us a wee spot)

Stayed in a cabin with my wife while my son and family stayed in their tent Communal kitchen area's which were busy both morning and evening, supplied with crockery, cutlery, pots and pans etc The sand flies were a real pest so make sure you have plenty of protection The area around the site is fabulous and boat trips to...

BUT As others have reported the noise levels at night at the Barn are ridiculous. We booked two tent sites a couple of weeks before arriving and were given two large sites near the kitchen and all facilities. As I said nocomplaints about the location of the facilities Through the day it was very quiet but as night arrived the...

We stayed in a cabin at The Barn for one night before a brief Abel Tasman Track experience then moving on. It was a fairly standard camping ground set up designed for short term travellers who mostly are presumably going to walk the track. The cabin was clean, tidy and comfortable and we were pleasantly surprised to find linen and...

The location is great - you basically cannot get closer near the entrance to Abel Tasman. Also, you can walk to two good places for dinner. I had a double cabin which had a very nice sunrise view in the morning and the mattress was also good. The facilities are good but it is more of a camping site than...
