Loved the apartment and Shamone our housekeeper, as others have said was brilliant. You’ll need to get the bus to and back from Holetown for your ‘big shop’ but that’s only $3.50 Barbados each way (was $2 last time I was here!!) Please however be aware that when you fill out the reservation form and agree for your credit card to ‘hold’ the damage deposit Island Villas will actually use your card to take the local taxes, WITHOUT YOUR AUTHORITY. We were absolutely prepared to receive invoices for the mandatory tax and resort fee, and pay these, on departure, in cash. Not on day 3 of our stay, on my credit card. Check before you go these taxes will add about 20% to the cost of your holiday.

Just returned from three weeks staying at Lantana (no.20), a four bedroomed apartment despite the fact that there were two of us. It is beautifully furnished, modern, clean and top quality. The large lounge has a huge sense of space especially because, being on the upper floor, it has the higher ceilings that follow the roofline.

Air conditioned in every room which allows for full control of the temperature throughout the day and the fantastically large balcony that looks out to the sea and over the pool ensures that the outdoor living that Barbados offers is readily available. Seating for 8 at the dining table and on the casual seating meant that we were spoilt for space.

All the bedrooms are well fitted out and smartly presented. The beds are comfortable and the rooms offer ample space with two having en suite facilities. Our bedroom led onto the long balcony which meant we could open the doors in the morning to see the view.

Kitchen and laundry facilities were top notch (even had a tumble dryer!) and all equipment, cutlery, crockery, etc supplied.

We expected noise from reading other reviews but they have been exaggerated. Of course the buses are noisy - it is part of the Bajan culture - but during the day and at night it is quiet and we had absolutely no problem sleeping with the doors shut.

Buses are available to take you to Holetown, Bridgetown or north to Speightstown and are cheap and frequent but a car does make everything that bit easier. Huge onsite parking with night security and daytime maintenance staff to make sure nothing untoward happens. We felt very safe and everyone is so helpful.

We tended to use the beach at Mullins or by Lonestar (a great place for a special evening) but used Ju Ju's beach bar (fantastic and cheap flying fish and chips) but could have just crossed the road to the local beach. There is a bar at the end of the beach but ii is otherwise very quiet and ideal for a morning dip. A fish market and vegetable stall are also open most days and, if you are lucky, you can swim with the turtles that live around that area.

What can we say other than it was a fantastic apartment with great facilities in a superb location. Oh, and it's very reasonably priced whether you are only a couple, or have up to eight people (there are four bedrooms).

A dream and we will return.

I am sad to say I stayed in apartment 10 and I has a cockroach problem inside the apartment, in the communal hallway and outside on the paths. I killed 1 trapped 1, it took management 4 days to send someone and the dead one in the hallway appeared on Wednesday 13th and was still there on 15th when I left. Housekeeping walked past it everyday without removing. Obviously the communals were not being cleaned. The whole complex is poorly managed and needs updating.

On the plus side the layout, view and balcony were good.

I do not recommend either Lantana or Island Villas terrible attitude and service

Response from Richard Eames, General Manager at Lantana Resort by Island Villas
Responded Mar 26, 2024
Dear Penelope, We are very surprised to read such a review. On March 12th you emailed our Reservations Department mentioning that you spotted some roaches. We responded the same day advising that the Management Company for the communal areas (who is not Island Villas) confirmed that the entire Estate was sprayed for crawling insects on Thursday March 7th 2024. We explained that this is likely why there were sightings of roaches because they are trying to escape the treated areas. You were also informed that the individual unit (No. 10) is on a monthly preventative pest control program. Despite the fact that the unit was already treated prior to your arrival, we arranged for another treatment the very next day – March 13th 2024. You confirmed receipt of the above correspondence. It should also be noted that Barbados is in the sub-tropics and the cockroach (also known as Mahogany Bird) can fly. Therefore this is not an infestation if they are flying from a neighboring yard or house, through your window.

We booked the apartment via the property manager Linda and she responded to all our questions prior to our trip. Linda arranged our airport transfers and she also arranged for us to stop at the large supermarket in Holetown to stock up on essentials on our way to the apartment which was great. The apartment is in the rear block of 2 and very quiet, it is well maintained with everything you require for a relaxing holiday. The free wifi worked well and the tv if you want it has every channel you could think of. There is a large balcony which looked out over the pool and grounds which are very well maintained. It is a short 2 minute walk to the beach and at the bottom of the road the local bus can take you in any direction. Linda has ensured there is an information file with lots of local info regarding beaches and restaurants to try we particularly liked the Lobster Pot and the free sun loungers if you eat there. The apartment and service we received was excellent and we will definitely book again and can't recommend it highly enough.

I travelled solo to Barbados at the beginning of December and had booked a hotel, about three weeks before my departure, I found Lantana resort on a web site and thought it looked wonderful value for money and so I cancelled the hotel and booked Lantana.
It was absolutely the right decision, I had a fantastic stay.
I stayed in Lantana 38, which is managed by Island Villas and the apartment really did look like the pictures on the booking site. Everything is modern, clean and in tip top condition.
The apartment is equipped with a dishwasher, hob, oven, washing machine, fridge freezer, toaster, kettle, hair dryer, iPod doc, iron and ironing board. There is a TV in the lounge area and the main bedroom. Just move in and unpack, it's all there for you.
Other useful extras are great security (pin entry & a safe in the apartment) There is a wonderful house keeper, who I saw every weekday and she was a real gem.
Lantana is in a residential area and if you are not hiring a car at the airport, I would ask your taxi driver to stop at a supermarket or garage, to buy the first night essentials.
There is a small local shop about 5 minutes walk away, on Charlton Road and Masseys supermarket is two stops away on the bus going towards the city.
The bus stop is right outside the apartments and you can travel any distance for 2$ Barbados.
The buses are a bit F1 and maybe not for the faint hearted as very often you have to stand.
Mullins Beach (my favourite on the island) is about 7-8 minutes on the bus (away from the city)
Here you can hire sun loungers buy lunch, cold drinks go on a boat trip etc.
Across the road from Lantana is Gibbs Bay, a small stretch of sandy beach, which on a week day is wonderfully quiet and there are lots of birds to spot.
Island Villas can arrange trips, airport taxis etc for you and a price list is in the apartment. Local phone calls are free from the apartment, it is also equipped with free and totally reliable wifi.
Apartment 38 also had a folder with instructions on how to operate all of the equipment, which is helpful as the washing machine is marked up in Spanish and I do not speak Spanish!
If as I did, you would like a change from the holiday hotel and you are thinking of Barbados as your destination, I can't recommend Lantana highly enough. Book it now, I'm sure you won't regret it, I can't wait to return.

We stayed in apartment 17 in the front block which is one of the closest to the main road and yes, there is road noise and the local yellow buses are notorious throughout Barbados for tearing around without silencers (mufflers if you are from USA). However, this apartment offers stupendous value for money compared with anything else on this stretch of the famously expensive platinum coast.
Whilst the road noise can be a distraction it is not the major issue that previous reviewers Heatherishly and Sunnyhoney1 have intimated. In fact some of the negative comments they made had me almost thinking they were writing about somewhere else or had a particular axe to grind.
The apartment is spacious, well equipped and clean and the location is just perfect. it is a 5 minute stroll to the beach and ideally situated between the many facilities that Holetown and Speightstown have to offer. Ideally you would need a hire car as the nearest restaurants and shops etc are a bit too far to walk ( apart from the John Moores bar which is a local rumshack and ideal for immersing yourself in Bajan culture) but if you don't want to drive, the local buses are frequent and very cheap.
Whilst we were there we spoke to several other holidaymakers who were renting in the same block and without exception they all accepted the road noise with a shrug of the shoulders and commented favourably about the overall quality of the accommodation.
This is a privately owned apartment which is listed on Owners Direct and in my opinion offers the opportunity of experiencing the most exclusive and expensive part of Barbados at a bargain price. It is somewhere we would love to return to in the future.

Spent 2 weeks here & what a great place. Nice, spacious & clean 3 bedroom apartment was very comfortable for all of us. The grounds & pool area are very well maintained on a daily basis. Well secure, with friendly manned security of a night time. The location of the resort is excellent, short distance to the bus stops where you can travel along the coast visiting lovely beaches & bars. Would definitely stay at Lantana again.

We stayed in Lantana 24 which is a first floor apartment on the first floor of the block farthest away from the road. It was our second visit to Lantana, we had previously stayed in the block near the road but the noise from the road was terrible. Definitely book an apartment in the back block.

The apartment is beautifully furnished with a lovely decked balcony with sea and pool views, with the main bedroom and lounge having bi-folding doors. The apartment gets the afternoon/evening sun which is great for having a sun-downer watching the sunset. The local beach is only a few minutes walk with plenty of other beaches a short drive away. We loved Mullens Beach and the beach near The Lone Star. Mullens Beach Bar on a Sunday is a must from 5.00 p.m. there is a live band and it's the place to be! The singer just looks like Bruno Mars.

Local to the apartment there are a few restaurants, Bo's Plaice just near the Fish Market and De Outback just further along the road, both serving local Bajan food, De Outback has a live band on Fridays and Saturdays. Further afield in Speightstown The Fish Pot and Jumas are excellent (Jumas providing a free taxi service for guests). You can survive without a car as the buses stop right outside the resort. If you have a car The Flower Cave worth a visit in the north of the island and the restaurant is excellent. I can highly recommend this resort especially Lantana 24.

I stayed at Lantana for 10 days with my sis. Summary below.

Pros:
- Some of the most beautiful beaches in Barbados are right outside your door! Mullins (the walk from Mullins to Gibbes beach along the water is extraordinary) is only a five minute bus ride away. Alleynes Bay (accessed by Lonestar) amazing. Just amazing.
- Extremely well stocked apartment...though salt and pepper would have been nice.
- Extremely handy access to the bus system. I don't know why you'd rent a car...you can get almost anywhere on bus.

Cons:
- The pool is noisy as the front pool is right beside a busy road. So if you are in the front building, sitting by the pool or out on your deck isn't a peaceful Caribbean vibe. However, it's not nearly as bad as some of the reviews indicate. Just depends on each person.
- No handy access to stores or restaurants. When you arrive at the apartment after a full day of traveling, often you don't want to jump on a bus and go into Holetown to find something to eat. There is only one eatery near by - Bo's Place - it is a five minute walk. Just past John Moore's bar. But it's totally worth it. Go! Otherwise, you have to jump on a bus or get in a car.
