Roland and his family are your hosts. You will eat breakfast, lunch and dinner with them. You either get lucky, or have bad luck. You eat what they manage to catch for you, which is really fantastisc. One dat we had lobster for lunch, the other fishheads. The longhouse is really basic. There are 4 rooms to accomodate 8 guests.... More

The name 'Lupa Masa' which means forget time, definitely suits this place. My friends and I enjoyed our 1 night stay here. It was like back to basics as it really gives one the opportunity to connect with nature and people around you while you are disconnected from the distraction of hand phone, especially. Roland and his family were great... More

Visit here... super quiet, almost private beach... the beach bar does great pizza in the evenings and you can have a cold beer or other beverage while watching the sunset and swimming with usually no one else around.... Love this place..

I had an amazing visit! I was able to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of normal life, which is something I wanted and really appreciated. Just steps from a beautiful, secluded beach Lupa Masa Beach is a great, rustic hide away. Additionally, with a new pop up beach bar, there is a great option for sun set drinks and... More

Stayed at Lupa Masa for 4 nights. The longhouse is very basic, 4 rooms with thin plywood partitions. You almost feel part of whatever happens in the room next door. When we stayed the longhouse was not full though. The food is served at Roland's house and this is where the homestay part is. You eat some simple but delicious... More

Cannot speak highly enough of the stay at Roland's longhouse through the lupa masa kudat beach house connection . Had 2 nights with our 4 chn there . Ages 7.8.10.12. Involvement with the local Family of Roland and Nancy with the extended family was precious. The women showed us their local bead work and home cooked food was memorable and... More

If you want a taste of life in rural borneo, you should definitely stay with Roland and his family at lupa masa beach. Roland is a gracious host, and a wealth of information about the area. His wife is a great cook, who produces tasty meals you eat with the family. Accommodations are basic, but there are flush toilets and... More

This place has a great secluded location. Overall it is a nice enough experience but with a little more effort & organisation it could (and should) be amazing. The wooden bungalow you stay in is simple but nice - if the area around it was cleaned up and a couple more hammocks or a few cushions (maybe a fan) were... More

Simple locally run set up with home cooked food and fresh ingredients, the eating and sleeping area is 5 mins from a deserted pretty clean beach. Sandflies could be a problem - did not like me but other guests there reacted quite bad to the bites - take protection. Nice trek to sunset view on hill top, Roland and others... More
