We stayed here one night as a late deal and arrived about 9pm in the dark and pouring rain so couldn't see it in full until the morning. The down sides first, staff were friendly enough, but sadly very slow and lacking in any knowledge / training, didn't know how to do an Irish coffee, wasn't sure how many beds... More

We attended this venue to witness our Son's wedding. To be fair, my Son and Daughter-in-Law had a pleasant experience and enjoyed the event immensely. However, our experience was not quite as good. Our room was dark and dismal with a very poor outside aspect. The bed was far from comfortable. If you needed to get up in the middle... More

Excellent hotel,we was treated like royalty. The staff go above and beyond for you.The food was to die for and my wedding was beautiful and could not fault anything at all.I read the posts about the ghost that haunts this place but never gave it a thought, although strange things did happen in my room on both nights,so definitely something ghostly going... Really enjoyed our stay here, wonderful building in a wonderful location but somebody needs to sort out the restaurant. Limited menu & we were lucky that they offered a special, could have been a coincidence that there was a wedding on & maybe there was a little of their mains left over but perhaps I'm just being cynical. Lovely room... More

Beautiful hotel and grounds. Went for a wedding at the beginning of September and stayed in a beautiful suite with a turret as a makeup area. The views were stunning as was the chapel that the couple got married in. Extremley expensive but as a wedding venue was perfect.

The castle is a beautiful setting for a wedding but the grounds are covered in gravel which is not good for any ladies wearing heels, also the spiral stone steps up to the room where the wedding ceremony took place were very steep and the light was very poor which made the steps dangerous. The wedding room was nice but... More

Having seen the castle itself it's not difficult to see why it has so many positive reviews but there is a major problem with my experience - they took our booking in good faith then cancelled less than a week before the stay with no alternative offered. I booked through booking.com. The overnight stay was a gift for my step-son... More

Came here for a wedding on the weekend...wow, what an amazing place! Beautiful gardens and views with fabulous surprises along the way. Awesome room in the castle for the ceremony with a hawk delivering the rings to top things off! Good was fantastic, we had a three course banquet style buffet. Mushroom soup was the best I've had in years... More

Efficient check-in, grounds and koi carp pool lovely, quirky and interesting tour of old castle that adjoins the hotel. Downside was cold dining room and slow service at dinner. At breakfast, although tea/coffee served promptly, had to search out waiting staff to order cooked items which still took another 15 minutes to come, despite only 5 tables being occupied.
