This great and gorgeous hotel boutique in Mascota is a perfect choice to rest and enjoy the town. The service and all the amenities are top. We really recommend this place for family or couples. The breakfast is perfect, excellent for start the day.
The place seemed quaint enough but has a central courtyard and the sound from both the street and courtyard is awful and echo loudly. There were several barely supervised children directly outside my door screaming at the top of their lungs at from 7-8 pm. I asked to change rooms and the owner said it was possible and would send her employee to guide me my room. A half hour later, kids still screaming, I went back out to see what happened and the owner was socializing with a friend. I told her I’d just prefer to leave and asked for my money back. She said she didn’t have any cash but would send it to me. Then her rude gorda friend started yelling at me because I had interrupted their conversation so I left. As I was leaving, one of the employees and what appeared to this woman’s husband came and apologized and promised to secure the refund. Despite repeated attempts to contact them, they ghosted me. Charming looking in photos—which bare little resemblance to reality—but bigger issue is the shoddy management. Honestly never seen anything quite like it in Mexico or anywhere for that matter. Better more economical options in town. This place is wildly overpriced. …
The looks like a very old building with a classic open couryard with trees, plants and birds. Large quiet rooms on the courtyard. A very good breakfast in the covered side of the open area. It was very quiet sitting in the morning having coffee.
The hotel is situated in the heart of mascota, next to la plaza central which is very convenient. At least 3 decent restaurants around the block including coffee shops, bakery’s, drug stores. Also 4 minutes away from El Templo Inconcluso which I might say is the main attraction there. The hotel is an old Mexican hacienda with not the warmest layout, the breakfast is good, the service is alright and the night-guard great at his service. The room floor constantly plagued by cockroaches even one fell off the ceiling into the bed, we didn’t have a great night sleep and feeling towards the room.
I don’t like writing this kind of review but what happened was deflating and dishonest. We have stayed here before and enjoyed this hotel. The first time we traveled to Mascota we walked into this hotel and asked if a room was available. We were quoted $1,300 MXN for our room and we gladly accepted at $2,600 total cost for two nights. This second trip we booked ahead and my spouse called to make the reservation. We were quoted a price for two rooms since my mother was traveling with. We were told that an email would soon follow. No email. Spouse called again and asked for email. Still no email but we were reassured the rate and reservation. I arrived and was given a very different price way above the quoted rate. My spouse was not with us and I had him call since he’s Mexican and Spanish is his language. Basically what we believe happened was a discrimination towards a foreign tourist. The lady who checked us in was caught off guard when my husband called to inquire why I was charged a much higher rate. She tried to make an excuse but was found to be lying and I felt robbed and very deflated at this point. So... foreign traveler be aware. I paid in pesos to get a better rate and still was taken advantage of. I did receive the difference only after my husband made the call and said he would be glad to drive the 2.5 hours to the hotel to demand to speak to the owner. I don’t know who the owner is but this owner should find out what was done unless of course this proprietor condones such dishonest behavior. …
Just stayed here last week during a motorcycle tour. The rooms were much nicer than I expected. The staff was very welcoming. They provided secure parking for us. Breakfast was great. This was a nice little town to explore and I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
If you stop by the sleeping town of Mascota, Meson de Santa Elena will welcome in their charming historical building. The staff was very accommodating and gave us a choice of three rooms, we picked the one we thought was the quietest away from the street with a private patio. The included breakfast was more than satisfying.
Beautiful original Hacienda with a lot of the original charm. We stayed in the room directly over the courtyard, which was pretty loud in the morning, you could hear the staff talking. The beds were not great, hard and the sheets were rough, so that could use an update. Only 2 English cable channels, no biggie. A BIG plus was a delicious breakfast and coffee in the morning in the courtyard - it was lovely. The price was right and I LOVE the town. I would definitely stay here again, it was beautiful.
We spent one night here but could have spent another after we saw the breakfast spread which included endless coffee. Great beds, large bathrooms with all the amenities and enough light. Strong wifi. But the lively hacienda architecture and furnishings made it memorable. Very friendly front desk.
We spent one night here and it was very comfortable and clean. Although we paid the same rate, our room was a bit smaller than our friends who traveled with us, but they both had bathrooms with shower. Nice location for exploring town and plaza. All the streets are cobblestone. After walking around town, we did find places to stay that were less expensive and looked nice (judging from outside appearance).
