The Springs Resort and Spa is celebrated for its luxurious amenities and the exceptional cleanliness that guests often highlight. According to many travelers, the spacious rooms offer breathtaking volcano views, although a few suggest the decor could use an update. While the service receives accolades for its attention to detail and friendly staff, some reviewers warn that the resort's overall value may not match the high cost, citing pricey activities and dining options.

The resort is tired, not dirty but not the quality of a 4 or 5 star resort. Turn down service is a joke. They put a single wrapped chocolate (think a single raisinet) and fold your sheet down, slide the blinds closed. There’s no bottle of water, no dim lighting, no robe/slippers put out, nothing special. The slippers are in plastic packaging, upon opening them, we sealed them right back up as the smell from the the plastic of the slippers was disgusting. They also sell a TON of day passes; so you will see that sitting in the hot springs, most people have a colored wrist band on as they are not staying on the property. As they are trying to get the most of their day pass, they are just back and forth constantly between all of the pools. Just not super relaxing with people back and forth, back and forth. Upon arrival our hot tub/pool wasn’t working, the battery in our safe was dead and our TV wasn’t working. Rooms should be checked and ready to go upon arrival, but definitely not. Staff was sent right away but it took nearly an hour to fix the issues. Food on the property is disappointing; go off if you can. It wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t good. Not typical for a 4-5 star resort. And this wasn’t limited to one restaurant, we ate at 5 different spots and/or had room service and it was all the same mediocre quality. The staff at the resort was really nice and friendly, no issues there. But for the price point and implied quality, it was so far from it.

I will never do justice in describing how beautiful this place is. The hot springs and main pool - you just feel like you’re in a jungle oasis. Can’t pick a favorite hot spring or pool - all so gorgeous. Boys loved the monkey slide. Our room was 5 star. I had reserved a 2br Aracari suite, but we were upgraded to a 3br Aracari premier suite (big thank you to whoever decided to do that). It was insane - too much to describe so check the photos on the website. The bedding doesn’t look special on-line, but the comforters were made of the softest fabric - like a crushed chenille? Gorgeous. We were in the Aracari building and it was an easy, covered walk to the main building. Staff was always ready to take you in a golf cart if you didn’t want to walk. Service - outstanding. They had laundry facilities including tide pods, dryer sheets, and shoe dryers complementary. We enjoyed Club Rio and the game room - these 2 amenities sold me on this place with teens. Our boys played pool, darts, and chess every night. We ate at various restaurants and the food (from sushi to steak to bar food) was excellent and it was easy to get a table. Did the Sky Adventures zip lining and Mystico set up through the resort. Sky Adventures is the way to go - very professional and got a ton of professional photos for $65. You also don’t have to climb up any platforms! We did eat lunch there - very good and not as expensive as the resort. Mystico was a nice hike, but we didn’t see much wild life. Can’t control that:). We were supposed to go canyoning, but a tree fell and the company had to cancel. The concierge found another company to take us, but we would’ve had to leave at 6:30 am. We decided to sleep in and enjoy the resort. We also couldn’t go tubing at Club Rio the day we wanted due to rain. When you’re staying at the Springs, who cares? Pura Vida, right? Amazing resort & I would go again in a heartbeat.

The Springs and their top notch staff far exceeded expectations. Roosevelt and his team were excellent. We did horseback riding through the river - an experience we will never forget. Roberto took my husband and friend fishing - always fun. The hot springs are amazing and the view is exceptional. The Alta Vista room was luxurious.

Simply amazing, we booked last minute after a disaster at another hotel - wonderful hotel, great facilities and great food. Very price-y, but a wonderful treat for yourselves. The rooms are big and the pool and hot spaces are great and the spa is fabulous.

Glorious. We spent three days here as the first part of our trip to Costa Rica. Beautiful resort, fantastic staff. Loved our room (honeymoon guest) with a view of the volcano. Food was good (las ventanas has the best food.) Activities at Club Rio were a blast - don't miss the tubing or the hot springs. We did a few other excursions. All wonderful. We came for my husband's birthday and they did a beautiful job. Would return in a heartbeat.

The Springs Resort is a majestic paradise staffed by courteous and intelligent Ticos. This five star facility is magnificently sculpted in a lush green forest facing the Arenal Volcano. There are many activities available or just relax in the hot springs, gazing at the spectacular cloud dynamics around the volcano’s peak. We cannot say enough about the excellent staff - Jefrey, Anthony, Lemiz, Jonathan, Johan, and so many others. The staff’s friendly and attentive service is the essential factor that magnifies the quality of this resort. Muchísimas gracias amigos! Nos vemos.

The springs was one of the nicest resorts I have ever stayed at. The grounds were beautiful, the staff were some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. There were countless fun activities, from sitting in the springs pool overlooking the volcano, to everything club Rio had to offer, horseback riding, wall climbing, and tubing down the river. The food was amazing, all our servers were great. But a special shout-out to Melvin who was one of the nicest, fun loving servers my family has ever had. We had a party of 10, and he knew all our names after the first dinner. When we saw him at breakfast he would greet us with a warm smile and a friendly hello. He came to represent Costa Rica for our family. He was a joy to see each day of our stay, he went above and beyond, and is someone we will never forget. Thanks Melvin!

When you go to a 5 Star hotel, you expect the culinary and beverage program would also be 5 Stars. This is not the case with The Springs. While the rooms are clean and spacious and the pool areas quite beautiful, the culinary and beverage program is that of a mid tier all inclusive (at 5 Star pricing). No matter which bar you go to, whether pool bar or the fanciest scenic bar on the top floor, they all have the same plastic coated drink menu with mediocre and very expensive drinks. A double spicy margarita will set you back $48 USD (not a typo). There is a reason no matter how hard you try to find a menu online for any of their restaurants, they are never published. The food across the board is just mediocre and not above 3 Stars. What turned us off the most was a situation at the sushi restaurant they proclaim as “The best in Costa Rica” (joke). I was presented with a bottle of Sake for $82 USD. When I googled it, it is available online for $5.99 USD (see attached pictures). What a turn off. Everything in this place is just a money grab. They have no interest in providing quality, just providing the lowest quality at the highest cost. They nickel and dime you at every turn, but this is even worse. 5 Star resorts provide sunscreen in the pool areas, this hotel tells you to go to the gift shop. Need water? Go to the gift shop or get a plastic cup of water at the bar. Speaking of plastic, the sustainability practices are also lacking, Laundry bags are thick plastic bags and when you check in they give you a 20 page glossy brochure ( a QR Code would suffice as would fabric laundry bags). We stayed also 3 nights at NAYARA down the road. This is a 5 Star resort. Avoid the Springs, go to NAYARA if you want a luxury experience. Avoid this place unless you want to pay top dollar for mediocrity.

Traveler beware! The resort will put you in extreme danger for money. You may end up sick, imprisoned, or no longer alive in a foreign country!!! Was there in December and my friend shattered her ankle on the ATVs. We begged and begged to go to the hospital, but the resort insisted on dropping us off at a shady clinic. The men threatened to put us in a dirty jail cell if we didn’t hand over $26,000 in cash. Remember, we were staying at the SPRINGS and our room was hundreds of dollars a night, so we really thought we were safe. Turns out you are in the most danger of all there. It seems to be run by an underground gang that’s eager and waiting to put you and any females in danger. After all of this happened and we escaped the men trying to kidnap us, I tried to get a hold of even one person that’s in charge and owns this hotel. No dice. They refused to put anyone in charge on the phone. I ran and cleared out the room, shaking in fear that these men would take us somewhere. Threw everything I the rental car, threw my friend I. The back, and started searching for a hospital at 2 am in the jungle. This report will NOT care for your well being. Good luck staying here. Watch your back constantly and don’t EVER get hurt, lest you end up in a dirty jail cell or worse, taken out back of the clinic like they threatened us and “boom.” I won’t even leave the United States after this trip. STAY as FAR AWY from the SPRINGS if you Iike freedom and your life.
