Samahita Retreat, the lifestyle retreat center for yoga and fitness, was established in 2003 on the island of Koh Samui, and has been called by many a "hidden gem" located on the quiet beach of Bang Kao. Owned and directed by Master yogi, educator and researcher, Paul Dallaghan, our yoga and wellness retreat center has been a location for practice, learning and holiday for literally tens of thousands of guests from all walks of life over the years. Being the original Yoga Thailand, our center has grown and developed over the years and now encompasses a wellness center as well as its traditional yoga offerings. The name Samahita is translated from Sanskrit as "centered" or "balanced". To find balance is key - in daily habits, in weight management, in dealing with stress.. Samahita Retreat's clear and dedicated purpose is 'to provide both the tools to work on yourself through specific practices and dedicated programs as well as the environment within to learn, change and renew. Choose from Fixed-date programs such as group yoga retreats or trainings or Flexi-date programs such as the integrated yoga & fitness YogaCoreCycle, health focused programs: total self care, de-stress or brain health upgrade. This all inclusive beach resort features 40 rooms suited for single travelers, couples and families.

As a long-time visitor of Samahita (and formerly Yoga Thailand) - since 2003!-, I was overjoyed to finally be able to come back and spend time at one of my favorite places on the planet: to rest, recharge and reconnect with myself and friends, old and new. After the pandemic lockdown, Samahita was still beautiful, fresh and welcoming, as if the world had not come to a standstill for 2 years! The lovely staff were as warm and friendly as ever, offering undiminished excellent standards of service and attentiveness. The accommodations were still fantastic: the private room i stayed in was cozy and well-appointed, and felt like coming home. The beach front areas - dining area, pool and lounging areas - were simply wonderful places to socialize or spend quiet time. One of the (many) highlights were my daily treatments: excellent massage therapy, facials and the amazing near-infrared sauna sessions made me feel brand-new after my 8-day stay! The daily brunch and dinner veggie buffets were extensive, delicious and nutritious, with optional offerings of fish, eggs and dairy products. And of course, what made my visit most memorable was reconnecting with Samahita’s amazing teaching crew: Gill, Daniel and Ara, and my dear friend of old, Dr. Paul, who with their wealth of experience, provided top-notch, expert and joyful yoga/wellness classes! I can’t wait to return for my next recharge.🥰🙏

Went for a 5 day YogaCoreCycle program. Vibes, teachers and schedule were all excellent. Food was light, delicious and healthy. Really enoyed the YogaCoreCycle program combination: it's definitely more than enough for any fit person and one can always take a break here and there if fatigue sets in. Also would recommend their add-on treatments! Special shout out to teachers, Gill and Ara, as well as the staff, who were all wonderful!

My husband and I came here for May TT (Teacher's Training) May 6-June 4, followed by family reunion. The 28-day TT program led by Dr Paul Dallaghan & his wonderful team (Gill, Daniel & Ara) was excellent, packed with useful & practical gems on both knowledge & experiential learning spanning across all area integral to yoga:  Breathwork, Asana, (physical), Anatomy, philosophy, Sanskrit related to Pranayama & yoga pose plus how to conduct/teach a real class.  The immersion program ran from 7am-6pm with 5 exams was well designed to help deepen our learning. Both my husband & I found the program useful helping us correct lots of old bad habits while gaining new insights. Food was organic, healthy & delicious!  I didn't realize food in Samahita was so good until we had a much terrible yet expensive dinner at Amber, Intercontinental Samui Hotel.  Just like bouncing back from my longtime shoulder injury, having eaten in a bad restaurant made me aware how lucky I was being pampered by Samahita for 5 weeks!!!  Special recognition goes to the Director, Gill who exemplified her gentle leadership spearheading the operation with grace, strength & flexibility while Paul was recuperating from shingles during week 4 of TT. After TT, our two sons joined us for their signature YogaCoreCycle program which was much relaxing (compared to TT) but good enough to keep our energetic & athletic sons occupied with good "core workout" plus new yoga learning.  Accommodation was fine with housecleaning 3X per week which was good enough. My small issue was the mattress which was bit too soft & air-conditioning bit too loud. All in all, excellent enriching experience for both personal & family!

I took a 5-day Self Care Program at Samahita Retreat and it turned out to be one of the best holidays I have ever had! The retreat is just right next to a beautiful beach so it is very relaxing. They have a great infrared sauna, steam sauna and a lovely pool. Oh the food, you will never have enough of it;)! And most importantly, the staff at Samahita is truly caring, friendly and wonderful. The staff at the reception(thanks Fong and Fon!) is exceptionally helpful, and always do extra miles to make sure you are well taken care of; and my therapist, Neena(10 stars), is super sweet and her massage is one of the best massages I have ever had!! On my birthday(yes this was my bday trip), the entire staff even surprised me with a delicious chocolate cake! I love their yoga classes too! Thanks Gill, Daniel and Ara so much for your teaching, I had loads of fun in your classes:)!! Can't wait to come back again soon!

Unique spot on Samui beach. Beautiful setting for the main yoga shala. The yoga teachers are attentive and devoted. Paul, Daniel and Gill all run excellent classes. I would summarize the theme is pranayama and teaching students to understand breathing and how to use it towards your yoga practice and general movement. The food (pescatarian) was unbelievably delicious. Each portion is made from scratch! I would say there is too much food! I ate three meals each day even though i didn't want to but i couldn't control myself :(

Samahita is little paradise on the Earth:) Yoga and meditation sessions are led by great teachers and some are practiced in the fresh air, just next to the beach. Walk along the beach in the morning or before sunset is amazing. Food is delicious, staff friendly, people nice and interesting. All in all, can’t be better:)

Samahita is my new favourite place, I’m so happy to have discovered it and I will definitely be back there as soon as I can get away from London again. Where to start… The first people I met were the receptionists who were SO efficient with the booking process and everything beyond. They are extremely friendly and I knew I was in a beautiful place full of love even upon arriving in the reception! The room was everything I needed: very clean, very comfortable bed, great air conditioning, powerful shower, little fridge, large wardrobe. The whole place is very quiet and peaceful. I slept so well. The next thing to mention is the chef: I wished him could take her home with me!! She made THE most delicious healthy food. Plates of vegetables were prepared in the most heavenly way, and there was always fish on offer at dinner. As someone who has quite unhealthy eating habits, I thought I was going to crave junk, but I didn’t at all because everything tasted so, so good. Then most importantly. I come to the movement of the body. I was on the YogaCoreCycle programme, which means you can participate in as many or as little classes as you like every day. The classes happen in the most beautiful spot right on the beach almost IN the ocean, the breeze and the waves absolutely beautiful on the skin. I did yoga at 8am, with either Daniel or Gill leading, whose teaching was very loving and skilled. The people in the class were a complete mix of people of all ages and shapes and sizes, some who had never practiced any yoga before, and some with an ashtanga practice. Daniel and Gill managed to guide classes in a way that helped everyone. Personally I have practiced a fair amount with teachers taught my Pattabhi Jois, but I had stopped and not really come to the mat in about a year. I don’t know exactly what the style of asana practice taught on the yogacorecycle programme is called, but it was clear that the teachers had a deep knowledge of the ashtanga practice and I found this holding but it doesn’t matter what it is called… I just felt very amazing after every morning session, and ready to sit in a meditation. In the afternoons there is a fitness class, ranging from spin cycling looking out to the sea, to core and body weight exercises. Led by Daniel or So, whose energy was beautiful too. Then a restorative yoga class every evening before dinner. After just four days of these classes and beautiful food and being by the ocean, I felt totally renewed and reset. I was there alone, which I recommend. But there were lots of couples, one with baby :)
