We visited the Barrel Inn at lunchtime for a drink and during the evening for dinner. The views are stunning & we were lucky to be there on a hot sunny day. The service was excellent and the food (and choices) wholesome and enjoyable. This is a very popular traditional and historic inn claiming to be the highest above sea... More

Lunch here was very good, 4 of us all tried something different, all received praise, my wife had a pot of tea, which arrived on a small tray with a timer to let you know when it was time to pour, different tea's were available, 3 different time periods were on show, what a great idea. The dining room was... More

You can always tell a good restaurant when there is a short menu. Good food, good value. The views are amazing. If you are going at the weekend you must book 4 days in advance and ask for a window seat..

Supposedly the higest pub in Derbyshire and you can believe it ther view is unbelievable. Great country pub, nice beers, friendly staff (they went out of their way to acommodate us as we hadn't booked) and the food was exceptional. There is a daily specials board which has a fantastic range of food including local produced recipes. There's a car... More

An impromptu dinner took us to the Barrel, but without a reservation. Disappointingly all the tables were booked but as we were early, we were able to eat before the other guests arrived. The lamb chops and salmon were both delicious! My only slight gripe is the boring veg which accompanied the meals - peas, carrots and cauliflower with a... More

Travelling along the Eyam Ridge, you definitely do not want to be the driver for fear of missing out on the views to the left and right. The Barrel Inn may not look as imposing from the outside but inside? Extensive courses to choose from and, despite a pretty full restaurant, a most efficient and charming Claire, assisted by Hannah... More

We stayed in a cottage very close to the Inn and called in for a drink the first night. Very well situated pub with outstanding views over the countryside. We liked it so much we went back not once but twice in the week for evening meals. They were nicely cooked and presented, good portions, quick to arrive, and served... More

rude and self judgmental about young people despite them working - assumed that everyone would behave like a student and behave badly and not pay for their drinks. No apology given and frankly very unwelcoming. Should give up and do something else. AVOID>!!!!!

We visited this pub on a misty evening, so missed seeing the wonderful views. Food was excellent, but the acoustics not good with low ceilings. Unfortunately we had a very loud mouthed man sat on the next table, who seemed to want all and sundry to listen to his conversation!
