As I had a trip to Chatsworth an overnight stay was necessary so we stayed at this country house hotel. Very pleasant staff who were attentive and friendly. The hotel itself is rather faded and in need of updating. My room was in the cottage, a decent size and reasonably clean. The shower room was quiet tight, the door was... More

We were a party of two couples who stayed here while visiting the Peak District. One couple had a small double room and the other rented Oaks Cottage which proved to be ideal as it gave us a private sitting room to use later in the night. We found the staff friendly and helpful and we felt most at home... More

Not the easiest place to find in the dark, even with the signposts. Breakfast is a late start at eight though the staff are flexible and did open the dining room early. No room service and no desk to work on in room either. Room large but cold and a supplemental heater was provided. Accommodation was clean though could do... More

This Hotel has a very interesting history and has gone through many changes yet still retains its grandeur. The grounds are worth a stroll around after sampling the excellent food unfortunately couldn,t stay for sunday lunch which i was told by the friendly locals in the pub was second to none.

The rooms are very spacious and well equipped large bed, bath and shower, the food was of the highest with fantastic service throughout. I would most definitely recommend Alison house.

We really enjoyed our 2-nights stay in Alison House Hotel. Our room was spacious and overlooking a beautiful garden, breakfasts were very tasty, well stocked bar and a nice lounge to have a quiet drink in the evening and watch a movie. Good choice of great walks in the area, we have not used our car during our stay even... More

The hotel was beautiful, in a lovely surrounding. We found the ensuite a bit odd, very much an after thought when converted to a hotel. The breakfast was beautiful, and the lounge was very comfortable. Our only problem was that the room was that cold, despite the heating being on low (which could not be turned up) that I hardly... This quiet, friendly, hotel tucked away in Matlock Bath from all the tourists yet only a 5 minute car drive to be amongst all the fabulous attractions that Matlock has to offer was such a good find for us. I have mobility problems and am registered disabled and the reception staff advised that their room for disabled folk would be... More
