We booked Willersley castle because of its close proximity to the sites we wanted to visit. We never planned to spend much time in the hotel so it wasn't really top priority for it to be a luxurious break. The grounds and setting are beautiful and the location is good for Lumsdale Falls, Matlock bath and Bakewell. The building is... More

I stayed here for 2 nights for a reunion with friends. My room was a double and was large and clean with superb views. The TV was small but I wasn't here to watch TV. We only ate breakfast at the hotel, which was a wise decision based on its quality and on a reading of the evening meal menu.... More

We were rather relieved that we only spent one night at Willersley Castle. Our room (Room 6) was located at the end of a narrow corridor accessed by a service staircase and appeared to have been the original servants quarters. It felt very remote with only one other guest room around a corner which seemed to be unoccupied. It felt... More

We arrived early to meet with our friends had tea on the terrace and were made welcome by fellow guests. We really enjoyed our stay, the bedroom was quite large and the bathroom was fine. We are light sleepers and the light from the corridor needed to be blocked out. Our breakfast was really good but would recommend getting down... More

I've just spent the last half an hour reading the very differing reviews about this hotel. Unfortunately our recent experience was extremely negative. The surroundings are superb, as is The Peak district, but to say the hotel is just tired or dated is generous. We booked through a booking company and were offered a 'superior' room which we took. One... More

We called for lunch Sunday. It is a lovely place it could be made really nice. The views are stunning. Sadly the food is not. I had a vegetarian club sandwiches it was a real disappointment. It was soggy and not a lot of cheese on it. My husband had a different club sandwiche and wasn't impressed either. I really... More

We visited just for the one night on the 2nd floor but found the whole time very lovely. The views from the grounds are amazing so make sure to bring a camera. Easy to reach Cromford, Matlock Bath and Matlock with Cromford Mills and Canal a mere 5 minute walk away which is definitely worth a visit. The room itself... More

The approach road to this different, for us, hotel is wonderful with fantastic panoramic views of breath taking surrounding cliffs, river and steep mountain like hills.. Very easing parking with rightly disabled spots close to the hotel entrance. All the staff were incredibly helpful and polite. We walked into town through the walled grounds . One gets a key to... Not as nice as it could be, we stayed in the old stable rooms called the mews. The window didn't shut and everything was so old and had layers of dust to prove it. Wouldn't stay there again, is a shame cause it could be so nice ! The breakfast was nice, although the we had to fight for cutlery... More
