Very nice, clean rooms with air con, kitchenette and balcony. Quiet location and Mirko and Dara who run the place are very nice, friendly and helpful. Couldn't have asked for more. Sougia itself is a great, quiet destination with excellent hiking and swimming.

Good value choice. Rooms were spotlessly clean and a lovely balcony with clothes pegs which was useful for drying swimsuits and hiking kit. Rooms were a bit small and very close together so got a bit noisy. Owner was charming and very helpful.

Hotel is situated near to the main road in Sougia, pretty calm, relaxed and laid-back place. The hotel has only 11 rooms, all with balcony, very good maintained. The rooms are enough big, with small kitchen, plates and dishes, TV set, air condition, cleaned every day. Managing stuff is very friendly, keeping everything properly. There is no breakfast, but it is available 200m from there, in Sougia is everything near, you don't need a car. Parking place is in courtyard of hotel. Perfect place to stay, relax, swim and have fun.

We stayed here just one night whilst backpacking round Western Crete and wish we could have stayed longer. We received a very friendly welcome and were shown to a spotlessly clean room with small kitchen area which we didn't use but it would have been perfectly adequate for basic cooking had we been staying longer. There was a balcony with table and chairs and a good sized bathroom. The apartment is about 200 yards from the tavernas along the front so it is in a quiet position. Sougia is a delightful place but avoid the first taverna as you come into town from the West - Livikon. The owner is pushy and we were overcharged.

Stayed 9 nights in April and we felt immediately attached to this community. Mirko and Dara make perfect hosts. Their hard work ensures place is kept spotless but they still find time for a chat or to help out where necessary. We had a good sized room on top floor with a sunny (morning) balcony. Basic cooking stove but very useful electric kettle and adequate supply of plates and cutlery. A couple of fabulous 2 hour circular walks that start and end on doorstep....one taking you into hillside across from balcony past a peacock farm! After walking chill out in Santa Irene bar on sea front and head to Perifimos for dinner to sign off the perfect day!

It was our first time in Sougia / Hotel Aretousa. Mirko and his wife are very helpful, the rooms are super clean and will be cleaned daily. We had a room with a small kitchen which is good for preparing breakfast or small dishes. It is 3 minutes to the beach, and to restaurants and cafes. Each room has a balcony, facing Southeast, so you will have morning sun. There is one shared table on the other side. Though it is very close to main road, as Sougia is a dead end there is hardly any traffic. I can highly recommend this place, great value for your money.
