Excellent service and very friendly staff. The food was very tasty . We had a traditional breakfast that was filling and beautifully cooked. Our room was comfortable and cosy. It had been recently refurbished to a high standard. We will be visiting the pub again.

We came here early one Saturday evening .The place had been fully booked when we phoned but they found us a table.I had steak and my wife had the duck, both were really delicious and the price was very reasonable. The Rioja Reserva was a beaut too. This had been in the hands of administrators but the young new owner clearly... More

Only stayed for one night unfortunately as we were booked to spend four days in the Cotswold's. Could have stayed here for the duration. Quiet, relaxing and excellent rooms, refurbished to a high standard Food very good. Lovely area, and Douglas the landlord very nice chap.

It is quite a way out in the sticks and when we got there and viewed the menu it is far too expensive for pub grub eg £11.50 for scampi and chips was one of the cheapest dishes. It was no wonder no-one else was eating. It annoys me that pubs in west somerset think they can charge ridiculous prices.... More

Lovely old pub with bedrooms being gradually refurbished by welcoming owner/landlord Douglas. Our room 7 was beautiful, large bed lovely decoration and furniture. And the food is really good, menu changes daily and is inventive, with great quality and portion sizes. Highly recommend!

The relatively new owner , Douglas, is really putting the Royal Oak back on its feet. The newly renovated rooms are to the highest standard with beautiful bathrooms, comfortable beds and top quality linen. The food is excellent - fantastic dishes, always enough to eat but not bulked out with soggy pub veg. Exmoor Ale is a standard but always... More

Visited as a couple complete with dog 31/7- 3/8/15. We had a large double room downstairs with a great wet room incorporating a power shower . The room was very comfortable and clean . This was our second visit since the new owner took over and it was wonderful to see how the look has been transformed over the months.... More

Have just stayed one night at the Royal Oak as a treat for our anniversary and had a lovely enjoyable time. Our room was clean and comfortable with a nice modern bathroom. Had a very tasty steak for dinner with good service and attentive staff. The breakfast was also very good and nothing too much trouble. Would thoroughly recommend it.

A Very pretty Hotel in beautiful surroundings. The room was large airy, spotlessly clean. The shower was a large walk in wet room. The bar and restaurant were full of character. The owner was welcoming and helpful, nothing was to much trouble. The hotel is very dog friendly, excellent hard to find these days. Lots of walks from the hotel.... More
