The owner of this hotel is very unfriendly, strange and apparently has problems to organize his bookings. Our room was double-booked and he only noticed when we finally arrived after driving a full day with two small children despite of Email contact and us re-confirming the booking by phone one week in advance. He was not sorry and made ridiculous excuses and a desperate attempt to blame us for the disaster. We had to book emergency accommodation for the night and drive another hour to reach it. Never again!!!

Response from Oliverliving, Inhaber at AmdenLodge Bienenheim
Responded Jul 25, 2018
You made a booking request on june 17. We wrote on june 18 (copy of the e-mail): Hi. Thank you for your enquiry. The requested date is not available. Best regards, Oliver. So what shall we do better? When you arrived on july 22, without any confirmation or valid booking, we spent a lot of time in helping you to find another accommodation and drove you with our car to the meeting point with your friends for free - even though our house was fully booked for a wedding and dinner was in course.

I booked a weekend stay at the Bienenheim not only for its name but also for its location. I wanted a quiet weekend away from civilisation and filled with hiking and nice mountain air. Despite the service being a little bit odd at first, the host tries to accommodate you best he can. Since he is alone dealing with the check-ins, kitchen, etc. be patient and don't hesitate to call him. Depending on the hosts, the hotel might be a bit loud, but sleep was excellent and the view stunning! I recommend a check-in after 3PM, otherwise the host will ask you to do something else in the meantime. ;)

Very loud due to the families and kids there. In the morning they suddenly stopped serving juice, so we had to do with it. Don't fall for the ubiquitous "If you pay with your card in EUR (or your local currency), it is going to be cheaper.". You will pay a steep 4% exchange fee on sight. This is a scam by the Swiss and their banks to squeeze even the last penny out of the tourists. Just pay in Swiss Francs and let your bank do the exchanging - their insensitive to give you a decent rate is much bigger than that of the Swiss bank.
