We stayed here for five nights in early June. We almost didn't come, as an accident in the rural Peloponnesos ten days earlier, halfway through our five week trip, had left my husband with two broken ribs and a lot of pain walking and climbing stairs. I myself am legally disabled and find stairs difficult, and by this point in our star-crossed trip we were both fairly stressed and sleepless. Between the two of us we had major doubts that our planned visit to Agia Anna was a good idea. When I e-mailed the hotel to advise of our uncertainty and ask for more details about accessibility, manager Flora was very understanding. She explained that the only stairs are the ten from the street up to the main level level of the hotel and if we could manage those, we would be OK. She was sympathetic about our situation and put no pressure on us to follow through with our booking. Meanwhile, our trip insurer left us in total limbo as to whether cancellation of the rest of our trip and new one-way flights home @ $2400 pp would be covered, sending us only useless computer-generated form letters that answered none of our questions. In the end, lacking a decision from our insurer, we decided it was best to just follow through as best we could with a very hollowed out version of our itinerary. That included keeping our booking at Hotel Artemis. As it turned out, not even the weather -- unusually cold and windy for the Cyclades in June, with intermittent gusts that blew over the furniture on the beach and in beachside restaurants -- was conducive to a beach break, so we were basically just marking time in Agia Anna until we could get home, trying to rest and regroup. Hotel Artemis proved a most hospitable place to do just that. Our room was simple, comfortable, and quietly situated at the far end of the external corridor facing a small garden area, so we had maximum privacy on our covered terrace. We really appreciated the peace and quiet, with no foot traffic past us, as we ended up spending much more time in the room and on the terrace than we would have in better circumstances. Dopey on pain prescriptions, my husband did a lot of napping while I e-mailed numerous people about our situation. Meanwhile, Flora constantly asked how we were doing and what she could do to make us more comfortable. She had a range extender installed in the room next door to boost our weak wi-fi signal, as she knew I needed reliable internet to revise our travel plans. She kindly rebooked our flight off the island and in general made us feel cared about and well looked after. If we had wanted to rent a car or plan activities, she would gladly have done those things as well. In short, she went the extra mile and then some. Flora is a gem! Hotel Artemis isn't fancy or sophisticated. There's no party scene, no entertainment, no pool. Rather, it's just the sort of friendly, very personal, family-run small hotel we prefer in Greece, a place with lots of xenia. Its location one street back from the beach makes it convenient but minus the bustle and music of the boardwalk, tavernas and cafes that line the beach, so some might find it dull but we found it perfect. Our room had everything we needed, and Marina who looked after us there not only kept it totally spic and span, but patted my husband's cheek sympathetically and cooed over him as if she was his mama every time she saw us. She didn't need to be fluent in English, as her friendly concern said it all. Thank you, Marina :). As most reviewers here note, the buffet breakfast at the hotel is a treat, with a delicious new specialty or two home-baked every day by the hotel's namesake Kyria Artemis. Our only criticism was our inability to get away from the constant, heavy cigarette smoke of very nearby fellow guests while we ate. My smoke allergies and I would have greatly appreciated a nonsmoking area of the terrace. Greece as a whole has much different standards regarding smoking than North America/much of western Europe, so this problem certainly isn't unique to Hotel Artemis, but we found it worse here than most places because the tables aren't widely separated and almost all the other guests smoked throughout the meal. All in all, this certainly wasn't the beach break we had envisioned, but Hotel Artemis very kindly helped us make the best of it. Efcharisto poli!

We had a great mini-suite, with sitting area with fold-out bed, small but fully-equipped kitchenette, small balcony, bathroom, and bedroom with queen bed. While not recently refurbished, everything was in good condition and it was very clean. The hotel staff, and the owner, Mrs. Artemis, were very friendly and helpful, especially with information about the best beaches and hotels. The included breakfast was excellent, with new items daily, including jams and delicious pastries, etc., made in-house. The hotel is on a quiet street, one street from the beach and a 3-minute walk from local grocery store, pharmacy, etc., Free parking is very easily available in a public parking lot only one street away.

Great hotel, very clean, professional and friendly service, an excellent breakfast included, free wifi, and a two- minute walk to the town beach. Our group had three rooms: a mini suite with double-bed in the bedroom and fold-out sofa in the sitting room, and a fully-equipped kitchenette; a double-bed room (very spacious); and a room with 2 single beds. All rooms had balconies (with table & chairs and drying racks), tv, a/c, refrigerator. Breakfast changes daily and includes omelet, tiropita, fresh pastry or cookies, breads, coffee/teas, assorted fresh fruits and cold cuts, juices, yogurt and a variety of delicious marmalades made by Mrs. Artemis. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The town beach is clean and has many cafes and restaurants to choose from. Grocery stores are a 5-minute walk from the hotel. Great location for families and those without transportation.
