This review is based on a one hour experience. The hotel entrance has been refurbished to a certain degree as have the communal areas to the left. The bar is tired and unwelcoming. Despite the car park being open for use it was more than full and nobody responded to the exit 'phone' so cars were having to reverse out... More

This is really submitted as a warning fto folk who are considering one of the Kew Gardens & Tea days out packages. The hotel is a long way from Kew (certainly not within a comfortable walking distance, particularly if you have already spent hours on your feet in the gardens). When I rang to ask directions, the receptionist didn't seem... More

Two wonderful days at the Richmond Gate Hotel. We were welcomed with a smile as soon as we walked in and checked into our room without a fuss. The restaurant and evening meal was good. However the waiters could up their game a hint. Regarding offering water and ordering wine/drinks. The buffet breakfast was fresh and the waitress was very... More

Booked the deal online for 4 of us..on arrival the hotel appeared very quiet and lacking atmosphere however we were greeted with a smile and although an hour early they were happy to accommodate. We took ourselves outside and were able to choose where as there wasn't anyone else there...sandwiches were average but the cakes and scones were yum...tea plentiful... More

As with so many English hotels a little tired and neglected in parts and not the best housekeeping, one lamp in breakfast room hanging cob webs. The room was small but comfortable, lots of scratched surfaces, also around hotel. So much more could be made of garden with some decent furniture and some loungers. Breakfast okay small buffet not sure if anything else... More

Had a great experience in the Richmond/Surbiton/Kingston area - only downside were the road closures in the area - but this gave us the opportunity to go through Richmond Park more often where we saw lots of deer on every visit. We spent most of the time sitting outside enjoying the great weather and we also walked along Richmond Hill.

On our last two nights in London, we decided to stay in Richmond out of a sense of nostalgia because we used to live there. In hindsight, I wish we hadn't. The hotel looks historic and cool on the outside, but the inside is an eyesore. The carpet is dingy and stained throughout the hotel and in the guest rooms.... More

Purchased deal through secret escapes which was good value inclusive of overnight stay with dinner and breakfast. The hotel itself is quite nice but it is a bit rundown in areas, however the location on Richmond Hill within walking distance to shops, riverside and park is great. The room we had was small but clean, weather was humid that weekend... More

We spent 2 nights at this very nicely run hotel. Convenient for walking in Richmond Park and to the river which leads to the green and town. Room very comfortable and well furnished. Breakfast and dinner was good and staff/service very well trained to look after every need. Swimming pool sauna and gym available for use which looked fine but... More
