We travelled out for a drink to this establishment on Wednesday evening - a place we had never visited before. For all that it is about 3 miles from Brampton it was rather busy. We were made most welcome and enjoyed a pleasant hour or so- the cask beer was great! Before leaving we decided to book in for a...

Returned for anniversary weekend with friends, received a friendly welcome. Rooms very comfortable, bar cosy, food excellent! Family run hotel, nothing too much trouble. Lovely village setting, easy trip to Carlisle.

Not a good experience and embarrassing as son and daughter in law were our guests. Salmon portion small, probably microwaved with wine sauce tasted as though out of a packet. Fisherman's pie a gloopy mess as all potato topping merged with the fishy sauce below - a wide and shallow dish clearly pre-frozen. Chicken pieces were tough and dry, virtually...

The Blacksmiths is a pub you have to make an effort to drive out to, but if you combine it with a walk at the nearby Tarn the two together make a charming and worthwhile trip. The pub is open all day for drinks and food and is very popular. In this day and age when you can be the...

You really feel you are in the middle of nowhere, but you are in a very nice place, and we have been here before (a little more than 10 years) and maybe that was the problem. We had such a lovely stay then, and maybe (maybe!) we have been making it better in our memories through the years - because...

The pub itself is in need of a bit of TLC as regards chairs, tables and carpets but it is clean and the welcome is warm. Good food - excellent breakfast - great beer served by really friendly and efficient staff. The owners make you feel really welcome and that welcome was extended from locals in the pub at the...

Fabulous home cooked food with a warm welcome & good, friendly service from staff. Meals are plentiful, I personally recommend the beef lasagne. Set in a lovely little town, bit of a drive out from Carlisle but scenery worth it.

Walking Hadrian's Wall is a real pleasure and stopping at this hotel made our trip perfect. Everyone within the hotel worked really hard to make our stay pleasurable. The food was excellent, check out the picture of the full monty breakfast. A must place to stop.

Recently called in for lunch, great friendly welcome, coal fire roaring away. On arrival we were invited to take a seat, given menus then our drinks and food order was taken. A real village pub with a number of seating options, bar area, restaurant area etc. As we had planned to eat in the evening we opted for sandwiches these...

Wonderful place, warm and friendly staff. Excellent food both in the snug or the restaurant. Located in a quiet country village. Bed and Breakfast has been enjoyed by a number of my friends who have stayed over the last 18 months. This venue is close enough for me to enjoy lunch regularly.
