A wonderful hidden little gem of a place! Not only were we warmly greeted, Lyn very kindly helped us sort out our dinner reservations and taxi pick-up. The room was very large, well-appointed, and wonderfully comfortable. Would very happily stay again. Highly recommended.

This lovely place is a rather wonderful secret. From the outside there's just an old stone wall. Inside a courtyard - one side for a farm, and the other the B&B We had the large ground floor room (4' 6" double and a single). Both beds were incredibly comfortable - as was the whole room. The decor was modern -... More

I had a lovely room with a small alcove for tea in a comfortable chair looking out onto the garden. On the other side of the room, the window opened to allow the chimes of the nearby church announce the time of day. If you don't have a car, you'll likely need to call a taxi to provide transportation to... More

We stayed at Vallum Barn on our way to Scotland and again on our return journey. It was quiet, comfortable and everything you could wish for. We had the ground floor room which is very suitable for a disabled person. The room has wide doors, a wet room shower and is very spacious. There is a lovely residents sitting room where... More

My husband and I stayed here for one night as we walked Hadrian's Wall. We stayed in the upstairs room which was very comfortable with lovely views out over the fields. Our room had a large bed as well as a single bed with a trundle so it would be great for those traveling as a family with young children.... More

Vallum Barn is off the Hadrians Wall path but the trip is worth the effort. The hosts were very helpful in calling us a taxi and making reservations for dinner in town. The restaurant was great and the evening was complete with an eclipse of the moon.

We spent one night in this B&B while walking the Hadrian's Wall Path. The rooms are in a lovely old converted barn. Ours was large and very nicely decorated with a big en-suite bathroom. The bed was comfortable, and we enjoyed tea and biscuits when we arrived. There is also a large reading room available to guests with lots of... More

Lyn and her husband converted an old car barn into a great accommodation. There are only 2 rooms available, each with a double and single bed. The upstairs room has a bath, which if you have been walking Hadrians Wall Path is a nice touch. Both rooms are very comfortable, however the bed was a little soft for our liking.... More

We came across this guesthouse when we were hiking the Hadrian's Wall Path. We were the only guests here. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. There is a nice guest lounge and breakfast was great! We especially liked the fresh fruit available with breakfast.

We were welcomed with a smile, then tea and biscuits - always acceptable after walking. Our hosts were unassuming but there for us if we needed them. They had lots of local information and the range of books provided in the lounge was pleasing. A good breakfast cooked and presented well. A little remote and away from the trail but... More
