As well as being a hotel/wedding venue, Heaton House Farm also have a campsite which we stayed in this weekend. The site is a field just off the wedding venue, with clean facilities. There is a water and waste disposal area as well as large inside shower/wet room that doubles as a changing area. There are 4x female toilets, men's urinals and toilets and 1x disabled toilet.

We were at pitch 15, a non electric pitch but I think this is the best pitch on offer. We set up over looking a field which has a public footpath through, so we were in the perfect position for walks and had a beautiful view.

The campsite was quiet, you could hear the music and speeches from the weddings but it wasn't loud and it was lovely seeing the Bride and Groom in the field for their wedding photos.

You can walk to a local bakery down the road (Elnor Lane Bakery), that sell lots of breakfast pastries and breads as well as teas and coffee. We were also able to explore lots of local walks nearby. They are all listed on a notice board in the facilities area, alongside a Chinese take away that delivers to the campsite too.

Rated 4x star rather than 5 because the washing up sinks are outside and one was out of use. Only minor but it was a little chilly washing up in April!

Thank you for your kind review! We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the beautiful views from your pitch, we think they are quite breathtaking. That's so great to hear the you enjoyed some of the local walks and got to have some tasty food from Elnor Lane Bakery. Thank you for your feedback on the washing up sinks, we will take this on board. I do hope this doesn't deter you from staying with us in the future as we love welcoming back regular campers! Kind regards, Lindsey

We had our big day on the 24th of July at Heaton House Farm and it truly is as stunning a venue as it looks. As soon as we viewed Heaton House, we fell in love with it, we knew it was the perfect location for everything we were envisioning to come to life. The whole team at Heaton House are excellent in terms of communication, any questions or queries we had were always answered promptly and professionally throughout our whole planning process. The venue also provides bits of decor which many other venues don’t such as table linens, mirrored centrepieces, and easels - this eased some pressure for us too! In the months leading up to our big day, we were assigned our wedding co-ordinator, Lindsey who was amazing from start to finish. In our final details meeting, Lindsey noted down every last detail of what we wanted and how we wanted it but was flexible with any last minute amendments and on the day, she made everything feel so calm for us, nothing felt rushed or pressured. There were only two extremely minor aspects that we’d have changed if we could, entry to the Pamper Room for Bridal Prep is strictly 9am which I had hoped there may have been some flexibility with as there were so many of us staying at the venue the night before the wedding and I had quite a big bridal problem. However, on the day - this wasn’t a big issue at all and I completely understand that this is likely due to staffing at the venue. Secondly, the check-out of the rooms (which are stunning) is quite early and the deadline is the same time that breakfast finishes but yet again, it’s easy to understand why this would be the case if there are back to back events. Overall, we had the most magical day and everything felt and looked like a dream, thank you to all of the Heaton House team but especially to Lindsey for making everything possible - we definitely hope to revisit the venue on an anniversary in the future!

Thank you so much for your wonderful review, Emma! We're thrilled to hear that your big day at Heaton House Farm was everything you envisioned and more. It's always our goal to make the wedding planning process as smooth and stress-free as possible, so we're glad to know our team's communication and attention to detail met your expectations. Lindsey will be delighted to hear how much you appreciated her support. Sorry to hear that we were unable to accommodate your request to access the Pamper Room earlier than 9am, we do find that our access time is earlier than most venues. Only certain members of the team have access to the Pamper Room on the day to open it up, and they are usually not in before 9am, along with the Pamper Room sharing a corridor with accommodation rooms. We are glad that you managed to stay over at the venue the night before, so you could start your preparations that little earlier and avoid any impact to your special day! We are delighted that you found our rooms stunning. Check out is 10am, with breakfast being served between 9am – 10am, however guests are always welcome to relax in the breakfast room past 10am, to allow you all to catch up on the fun memories from your wedding before departing. It means the world to us that you had a magical day, and we'd be honoured to welcome you back for an anniversary in the future. Congratulations once again and thank you for choosing Heaton House Farm! Kind regards, Chloe

Lovely wedding venue and gorgeous views. The day went well. The three course meal was excellent, bar drinks very good and the music in the evening got us all up dancing.

Disappointed with the timing of check in (2pm) and check out (10am). Wedding also at 2pm. MOB due to have hair done in the pamper room prior and also wanted to put her outfit on at the venue, but it was all too rushed with hair/changing into wedding clothes/getting our luggage into the room and being at the ceremony on time. I understand there is a tight turnaround time, but surely having all rooms ready one hour before the time of the ceremony should be standard, not an add on fee.

As parents of the bride, we managed to view most of the rooms of the other guests and it was obvious that we had been given one of the less desirable rooms, small and no view from a tiny window, though it was clean and immaculate. Yet we paid the same as the better rooms with views. I think the venue should charge a little less for a less desirable room.

Breakfast is served at 9am. If you need the full hour to eat your breakfast, you need to check out prior as you won't be able to access the room after breakfast. We saw there was a pot to collect keys in the restaurant - cleaning staff were in/out to collect the keys so that they can clean the rooms for the next guests. It felt very rushed like they want you out as soon as possible.

Breakfast was nice, buffet style, but took a while to queue and no fresh fruit salad left.

Thank you for your 4* ‘very good’ rating and review. Listening to guests’ feedback is the only way we can improve our service, so I appreciate your help with our improvements. It’s fabulous to hear that you enjoyed our incredible surround, and I hope you enjoyed planet of time to take in the 3 county views of Cheshire, Staffordshire and Derbyshire. If you ever get the opportunity to enjoy this area again, there are some fabulous walks. I’m pleased to hear that you enjoyed every aspect of the day, from the meal, drinks, music, and of course breakfast the following morning! Our team work hard to ensure every detail is checked to ensure a perfect day, so they will be pleased to hear they exceed your expectation. With regards to the early check-in, industry standard is either 2/3pm due to the time it takes to turn the rooms around from the previous day, so I’m pleased that we can offer a 1pm early check-in should guests want to have the room an hour early then our most popular ceremony time. We also have another option which is made aware to you on booking, which is a changing room and luggage storage, should you not wish to book the early check-in. We do find many guests take us up on this option and check in after the ceremony so they can relax and enjoy the day. All our rooms are individually styled, with beams, or sandstone features, and not one of our team shared the same preference if you were to ask them what their favourite room is! Our rooms are charged for based on occupancy, and there are different options available on the website should you have wanted a larger room. Breakfast and check out and between 9am-10am. Therefore, it offers the flexibility should you want an early breakfast, you are able to check out afterwards, or alternately, if you want to enjoy a lie-in, you are able to check out and enjoy a leisurely breakfast and the restraint is open until 11am. The key basket is placed in the breakfast room for our guest’s convenience, instead of having to cross the courtyard, especially in our winter wind which we are experiencing at the moment. Again, thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback, and I do hope you will be back to enjoy another room and experience soon. Kind regards, Sarah

The setting and location of Heaton House Farm was lovely, with stunning views.
We were celebrating my daughters wedding, which went perfectly. Venue, staff, food all fantastic.
Only one small recommendation - as part of the bridal party it was lovely to have time to relax and get ready in the pamper room during the morning but just as we were all ready, makeup and hair done, in our dresses, we were asked to move all our things to the Bride and Groom Bedroom. This didn’t seem right that they should have to walk into their room after their special day to bags, suitcases, belonging to the bridal team. Maybe there could be another allocated location for items to be put if the pamper room was required for cleaning, it just didn’t seem right that bridesmaids should have been moving bags etc in their gowns.
That being said, the rest of the day was perfect, and this was made possible by the lovely staff, who made the day run smoothly.
With regards to check-in of the accommodation we thought it was going to be a little awkward between 2pm - 5pm, as the wedding was at 1.30pm but actually it was ok as there was plenty of time between the ceremony and reception. The room was lovely, well equipped, spotlessly clean and had a well needed comfy bed after a long, but wonderful, day.
Breakfast was superb and it finished the wedding celebrations off nicely.

Thank you so much for your lovely review! We love to hear how the Bridal Party enjoy their time with us from start to finish! We are sorry to hear that you felt the process to leave the Pamper Room did not work on the day. In order for us to be able to offer the Pamper Room early in the morning (from 9am) for your daughters celebrations and for all weddings here at the venue, we do have to ask that it is cleared prior to the ceremony after it has been used for preparations, so that whilst our housekeeping team are still onsite, they can access the room during the ceremony to turn this around for the next days bridal party. We have however taken your points on board and we will work with our team to see if there is anything that can be done to make this process a little easier for our couples. We really do appreciate the feedback to allow us to ensure the most seamless experiences for all our guests and couples. We are delighted that you found the rest of the experience to be perfect! We are particularly pleased that you found our staff to be so helpful, we are incredibly proud of our team and love to hear that they helped to make your experience great! We hope that we are able to welcome you back to the venue for future celebrations! Kind Regards, Amy

This is a lovely wedding venue. We found staff to be friendly and efficient and the wedding was beautiful and the day went without any hitches. The food for the wedding breakfast was delicious and filling.

Our room was clean and beautiful.

The downsides:

Wedding at 2 pm, Check-in at 2 pm. We had travelled a long way and wanted to get ready at the venue, but these check in times are ludicrous, though I appreciate that the turnover of wedding parties provides limited time for the rooms to be ready. We had opted for an early (1pm) check in and paid £10 for the privilege. In the end, there wasn't a wedding the day before so the rooms for everyone (including those who hadn't paid the £10 uplift) were ready on arrival at 12 pm, not that they told us this.

The vast majority of rooms at this venue are £150 per night. We didn't feel it was fair to opt for a three bedded room, a family room, or an accessible room since we were a party of two, so we were happy to have one of the other rooms on site. However, I was not pleased to discover that the room allocated to us (Malt Store) was very small, with a very small window and the view (such as it was) blocked by a wall on the left of the window and having to crane our necks to see a small portion of view from the right side of the small window. If this room had been cheaper than the rest and the reason why stated on the website, I would have accepted my choice. Paying the same price for this room when others were staying in larger rooms with fabulous views is unacceptable.

Check Out: Breakfast between 9-10 am only. Check Out of room 10 am. In other words you have to check out of the room at 9am because the staff want you to place your room key in the basket at the entrance of the breakfast room. Either that or eat your breakfast really quickly, which is difficult to do when the restaurant is full of queueing guests.

All in all, we enjoyed the wedding but if we ever return, we will opt for a larger room for the same price.

Hi Debra, Thank you so much for your feedback, and average rating. Even when we have no wedding taking place, we are often doing deep cleans and maintenance to the rooms to maintain their high standard, so can not always guarantee early check-ins unless they have been booked. I’m sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the fact that you were able to get in your room even earlier than guaranteed. I’m sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy your room like you said there are other rooms at the same price, however, we appreciate the fact you didn’t want to take a larger room than needed, however, there was another room that we would have been able to move you to, should we have been given this feedback whilst you were with us. As breakfast is served between 9am-10am, if you have vacated your room before breakfast, you can drop the key in the basket as you turn up for breakfast, or alternately, if you wanted an earlier breakfast, you could drop the key in the basket after you have checked out. We really value your feedback, and I’m so pleased to hear you enjoyed every aspect of the wedding. We hope to welcome you back to try another of our rooms and enjoy another great experience from our team again. Kind regards, Sarah

The site is in a wonderful country position with spectacular views in all directions. The camp site is flat and has reinforcing mesh under the grass pitches so no problems if it is wet. The facilities were clean although only one shower would be insufficient if the site was busier. It is about 4 miles to the nearest town (Leek) so take with you all the provisions you need. There is electricity to certain pitches and fresh water and waste water facilities close at hand. the site is very well maintained and we would not hesitate to recommend it

Perfect for a wedding stay. Staff were VERY accommodating in letting us have access to the rooms as soon as they had been cleaned so that we could get ready in them and drop off our luggage.

Rooms were clean and modern and had everything we needed.

As a wedding venue, the wedding organiser had everything in hand and helped to ensure the smooth running of the day, taking over so that the bride and groom and guests had nothing to worry about except for enjoying themselves.

Breakfast was delicious! It was one of the best buffet-style breakfasts I've had. Shortly after breakfast, the new bridal party arrived to set up the venue for that days wedding - but such is the nature of a successful wedding venue business.

Could not fault HHF at all.

The most amazing venue for my daughters wedding. Everything was perfect from start to finish. Staff all very professional but friendly and I know they had a lot of work to do getting everything done but you didn't notice them doing the changes and clearing up ready for the next part of the day. The beauty room where my daughter and her bridesmaids had hair and makeup done was just fabulous with amazing views. The accommodation was great beautiful rooms with comfy beds and great bathrooms all the guests that stayed over commented on how fab they were. Breakfast was amazing so much choice even the fussiest of eaters would find something.I would highly recommend Heaton House.
If I could change one thing it would be that they let mother of the bride have their room a little earlier my daughters wedding was 2pm and we booked earlier check in at 1pm but my room was the last to be ready ( other guests got room earlier)and I didn't have much time to get ready as photographer wanted me at 20 past one.

Thank you so much for your excellent review of every service we provided for your daughter's wedding - it's so pleasing to hear such wonderful comments about our beautiful venue. Our housekeeping team work hard to turn the rooms around as quickly as possible, but sometimes logistics do not allow for specific rooms to be available before others, such as what time the previous guests checked out, o we always aim to have them by the guaranteed time, and I am pleased we managed this in this instance. Please come back and enjoy another stay soon! Kind regards, Sarah

Beautiful scenery and relaxed site. Pitches lovely and spacious although not hardstanding but reinforced grass. There was a large single shower for all the site to use which was regularly cleaned and I never found this an issue gaining access. Elsan point was literally a hole in the ground with a small sign highlighting the purpose and large bin sited next too for rubbish although this could have been emptied more regularly as was overflowing come the weekend. Facility available to wash dishes but was often parked in front of by either staff or event people setting up for weddings blocking door to toilets and shower and washing area. Also very popular place for weddings as one was held everyday of our 5 day stay so carpark busy alot of the time but this doesn't impact on the touring at all just to be mindful with children as the carpark is situated right next to the fireld where you pitch. We had a lovely break away but this wouldn't make our priority list for retuning.

Thank you for your ‘average’ review regarding our campsite. You’ve made a couple of great points that we were already in the process of addressing. The team were not only involved in 6 celebrations onsite over the jubilee week, but also involved in numerous community events off-site too, so we were not able to empty the bins as much as we would have liked, however, due to trialling a new location for the waste disposal, they are not usually that full, but unfortunately, a lot of the venue dressers also used the campsite bins and filled them up, so we will be looking to move them back to the original location. We already have on order some barriers to allow for better access to the washing-up area, however, these are yet to arrive. I would love to hear what else we can do to improve our site to encourage you to come back like a lot of our other guests do, and hope we do get the opportunity to welcome you back to see the improvements. Thanks, Sarah
