Firstly I have read the 'less positive' reviews. I did not experience any of their problems. No dogs barking. No noisy seagulls and almost totally oblivious to the builders. Yes the place is 'period' with wonderful 'objects d'art' I feel sure that Miss Marple would feel at home - so would Holmes, Poirot et Al. It would even be a... More

Been here on a couple of occasions for coffee and breakfast. We went yesterday as a family of 2 adults and 2 children for breakfast. Lovely relaxed homely atmosphere with a choice of rooms to dine in. The breakfast menu is varied with a few specials for something a little bit different. I had potato cakes with crispy bacon, maple... More

My wife suggested taking my daughters to lunch at The Starfish in Cairnbay lodge! It was fantastic because there are sofas, or chairs , tables and rooms to chose from. Views or nooks . There were people there quietly reading or working on their laptops. There were couples and groups. The food .... very good indeed and a refreshing simple... More

Had brunch at the Starfish cafe yesterday for the first time. Can't say I have ever had anything nicer. I only recently realised that they are open for passers by , not just staying guests. I had the crushed advocado and chorizo jam on sourdough toast with a crispy fried duck egg. Absolutely delicious. I can't wait to try again... More

Why only average? The hotel is in a nice location with sea views to the front. A negative could be that it is within a "one way traffic system" which makes access more difficult than it otherwise would be. The management of this hotel were very friendly and helpful, but I expect that - it should not be a bonus.... More

I was booked in for an overnight stay as part of a work Xmas do , after initially getting very lost , I finally found the Cairn Bay lodge .Upon arrival I got a warm welcome from the owners and was shown to my room, which had a fabulous view of the sea. The room was large and nicely decorated... More

It's become our new 'local' and never fails to serve up delicious, healthy meals. With a birthday last week and a couple of friends keen to 'treat' me, there was no other show in town - had to be the Starfish. The mango, strawberry and coconut smoothie is so perfect I actually feel healthier just thinking about it. The warm... More

Stayed one night and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Excellent location close to seafront. Good sized room and an excellent breakfast with a good variety to choose from. Made to feel very welcome. It is a short walk to the shops and the seafront is directly outside the guest house. Would be very happy to return.

Fantastic choice of fresh food and friendly staff make this another one of Bangor's gems. Breakfast here is delicious be it their healthy grill or their beautiful porridge with compote and seeds. Well worth the visit for the food and the lovely view over the bay and you are always made feel very welcome by Jenny and her staff.

Cairn Bay Lodge has become my favorite place to stay in Bangor. The views and location are wonderful. The breakfast is over the moon. The staff are consistently helpful, attentive, and warm. I can't say enough kind things about the lady who cleaned my space and the kitchen & desk ladies. The rooms are well appointed and well cared for.... More
