I chose this hotel because it was the most "dog friendly" hotel in N. Ireland. I did a "pre-visit" without staying - a week ago - and decided to return and stay a night with my dog. My dog Max and I were warmly welcomed - and were "upgraded" to a Superior Seaview room (102). This gave a view of... More

My wife & I took our 7 year old grandson to Bangor for a day trip & had booked into a family room. From the moment we check in all the staff were more than helpful & courteous. Our room was more the big enough for the 3 off us & very clean. We ate in the restaurant, the food... More

8 of us visited the salty dog on Sunday after having heard good reports. Unfortunately I can't confirm any of the reports! The restaurant has a nice atmosphere but the service and was terrible. Seemed to only take one or 2 drinks orders at a time so most of us ended up with just water! 6 of us ordered the... More

We stayed here on a Saturday during the Open House Festival to go to a talk given by Suggs from Madness (who turned out to be staying here too!). It is in a great location on the seafront and has plenty of seating outside to enjoy the views with a drink. The rooms are very competitively priced. We were warmly... More

We stayed here recently and would neither return or recommend. The room was in fact a fire escape and should not be rented as a room at all, under any regulation!!. The Bistro reviews were also misleading save an okay breakfast. Disappointed.

We had had the bistro recommended to us. Arrived late lunchtime and were told to take our pick of tables in the lounge.....between the dogs quite literally. After waiting over 5 minutes we asked for a menu and managed to order a drink at the same time. Table had four chairs around it but when the food arrived there wasn't... More

We were looking at a night away and came across the Salty Dog and decided to book it. The choice was here or the Old Inn Crawfordsburn and we definitely made the wrong choice. When we first arrived the entrance was covered to the right of the door in Bird Poo! This looked like weeks build up! The hotel is... More

Sort of the last place available as a late booking on a Bank Holiday Weekend. My Wife and I were pleasantly surprised..Lovely views from the front sort of balcony tables, even the Sun was shining. Friendly Staff always make a short break worthwhile..Rooms were well furnished with a lot of attention to small details..Only issue on that stay was maybe... More

Arrived on a Wednesday night for a meal.... as we entered we were met with a horrible smell of wet dog and urine.... seat was covered in dog hair... nearly tripped over dog lying on floor... Needless to say we left very quickly and won't be returning. ..

We travelled from Newry to attend an event at the Open House Festival and on a personal recommendation booked the Salty Dog - thank goodness! First off - the location is lovely. Bangor was gorgeous in the sunshine but the hotel is located right on the edge of the marina, looking out over Belfast Lough so it's located a bit... More
