we were given a voucher for our anniversary and we had never stayed before. At check in on the Sunday afternoon we were greeted by a very happy member of staff she was so friendly and helped us settle in. After reading some comments regarding food recently I wasn't expecting much. The food was fantastic - I've no idea what... More

We have eaten here before and enjoyed the food unfortunately this visit was absolutely disappointing. We ordered the afternoon tea when delivered to the table consisted of 2xplates of white and brown sandwiches with the crust cut off, 3xscones jam and butter, small assorted chocolates and a pot of tea. This cost £45. The food quality was poor and rediculously... More

Having eaten at the Salty Dog 4 or 5 times previously and enjoyed it, I thought choosing it as a last minute Friday evening de-stresser was a safe bet. Unfortunately I was terribly wrong. Amateur and awful. Quality of the produce 0 points, quality of the cooking 0 points, presentation of the food 0 points and consequently, in view of... More

First time visiting The Salty Dog and it did not disappoint! My meal was lovely, however we did wait over 45mins & it wasn't overly busy. Staff were pleasant but a bit nervous but ensured that we were enjoying our meal numerous times..however the view added to the ambience of the restaurant in which my partner & I enjoyed! Desserts... Just on the corner leaving the main town - so away from all the noisy main bars - this place serves great food at a good price. Attentive staff and efficient service without being too pushy or rushed. The food was very good and certainly of a high quality. And the price also good... Eat enjoy the lovely views then... More

While the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and our table had a beautiful view out over the pier, our visit here turned out to be disappointing. The waiting staff appeared to be all very green and made numerous mistakes. The food was very mediocre for the price. I ordered fish and chips and there was barely any fish inside the... More

Very dissapointing food and service-4 of us went on a Saturday evening for dinner and it took 3 hours for a two course meal. Drink orders were forgotten and extremely slow,no one seemed to be leading front of house which seems to be needed. Starter sharing board was good, however the mains were lacking the usual care and attention for the... More

Quirky little hotel. No elevator btw. BIG room with plenty of windows that open for fresh air. Room felt a little tired and even dated, but then we are too. (The reason I give 4 dots instead of 5). While not glamorous a la the Ritz Carlton, it was a delightfully charming hotel. The place obviously has some history. Staff... More
