Stumbled upon the station by chance and thought we'd give it a try. Walked in. Rang the service bell. Stood waiting for around 20 minutes... When we were finally seen to we found a completely empty dining area with 1 member of staff complaining to a local about every other person who works there. Staff seemed to have no time... More

Husband and I ate here last weekend, have eaten here loads of times in the past. Not as good as it used to be, menu now plastic, not nearly as much choice and more pub type grub. No game on the menu, they used to have duck and venison. No noodle dishes which they also had in the past. I... More

This is the first time I have visited the hotel in a couple of years. I arrived with two close friends and was surprised to find a near empty restaurant. Shockingly it took us over 5 minutes to be acknowledged and seated, the solo waitress serving other guests before seating us. At this point we should have left. However we... More

My husband and I had a meal here tonight. We visit the Station Hotel on a fairly regular basis and we have always found the food to be excellent. Tonight I ordered the roast dinner, which was chicken & thyme. I was amazed at what arrived......a huge Yorkshire pudding filled with several types of vegetables, stuffing, chicken and roast potatoes.... More

This is one of the worst meals that I have ever had, the special Christmas menu was terrible if you couldn't deep fry it then you had no chance of it being edible. I had the duck breast that was so over cooked it was tough and chewy with a tiny amount of runny jus? Roast potatoes and chips served... More

Great food, friendly staff and nice pub. There are two restaurants, one up stairs and one down. The one down stairs has recently been refurbished and looks great. The one up stairs was refurbished a few years ago and still looks good. I have always found the food is good. The last few Sundays I've been it has been busy... More

I had the misfortune to spend a night in this hotel. My company allows an evening meal allowance but does not pay for alcohol. No problem you would say, just put your few drinks on the room and settle up when checking out. Not in this hotel! I asked for my drinks to be put on my room which the... More

Stopped on way home from Aberdeen. Remembered high rating from family in the past. The food was the worst dining experience I have ever had. Chose the specials thinking culinary effort and talents would be highlighted - inedible. Barbeque pork was pork steak, smothered in sauce (from a jar) with the thickest greasiest slab of cheddar cheese on top. Other... More

Starter was duck spring rolls that looked bought in and deep fried in the hotel kitchen as was the fish in the main course. The roast of the day was silverside in a peppercorn sauce. The silverside was 2 thinly cut portions served cold swimming in Peppercorn sauce. The sticky toffee pudding had little flavour and again looked 'bought in'... More
