Being from the area and returning to revisit old stopping grounds I thought we would stay in a hotel I remembered as being one of the best in the area. How things change!!!. On arrival the room was to be ready by 14:00 hrs that turned out to be 15:30. Not that bad really but that was the start. The... More

We always have such a brilliant time when we stay here. If you are looking for a boutique hotel then that it is not. If you are looking for a place to stay with breath taking views, fabulously helpful staff and a child friendly reception - then this is it. The children always look forward to having a hot chocolate... More

Stayed at the staincliffe one night while working nearby. Staff were friendly and helpful, the building itself and public areas are very well-appointed, however the room I was given could have done with a refurbishment, though it was clean and everything worked. My main issue was that there was some sort of extractor fan running outside my single-glazed window all... More

As we were attending a wedding celebration and an overnight stay at this hotel we checked the reviews and feared the worst. we should not have been so worried. On arrival we were allocated a room on the front with an excellent sea view and although it was small it was clean and totally adequate including tea/coffee and flat screen... More

We have just returned from my niece's wedding at the Staincliffe and it found the hotel friendly with wonderful staff and some amazing Art Deco features. Like most older hotels it may need a few things doing but the charm and friendliness make up for this. The room was bright, spacious and clean as well as having a great sea... More

We booked a table for eight for a family birthday celebration. When we arrived they had not prepared our table and said we would have to wait while they pushed two tables together. Not really a problem for us as we had arrived about five minutes early, and were waiting for the rest of the party to arrive anyway. There... More

Late review as was waiting for its own page on here . Visited 17th June not long after it open - we were the only people in there Have you ever been to a "Authentic Italian Restaurant" where the house white wine is Spanish table wine and when the waitress brings an ice cream dessert and announces "Some numpty left... We stayed in a few hotels around the north east and this was by far our favourite. We stayed in a gothic style turret of the hotel with a massive separate bathroom and a roof terrace overlooking the sea, essentially a whole floor to ourselves. This room probably isn't to everybody's taste but if you like quirky and obscure, request... More

We booked a package for our Engagement gathering, which was well worth the money and turned out to be a perfect day. We decided on a day gathering as we wanted it laid back and a time to enjoy our family and friends company. We hired the Italian restaurant which was secluded and ideal for what we wanted. A DJ and... More
