Room 14 was tiny, dated and shabby. There was no drawer space or bedside cabinets/lamps. The window blinds were broken. The bathroom was tiny the shower was pathetic, dribbled on you. Altogether rubbish. The paint work and plaster work in most areas of the hotel was peeling off or had damp patches. The smell in the corridor by our bedroom... More

We booked this place for our wedding venue because of the huge ball room, private garden and proximity to the beach. We organised the day with Angela and were reassured that the day would go smoothly and that she herself would look after us, our guests and that she would be there for anything we needed... The morning of our... More

We attended at family wedding for which I was the best man. Arriving early I checked the room to ensure that everything was in order. Smell: drains from room above being unblocked Cleanliness: generally dirty throughout. "Chapel" full of cobwebs and dust. Tablecloths: 50 shades of grey rather than white Food: generally late, vegetables uncooked and tasteless. My wife tore... More

Downstairs looks modern.....but Room not very clean, ensuite tiles made it look like a 1960s public toilet. Floor unclean stain on sink. My husband and I stayed at The Staincliffe 25/06. We booked one of the sea view suites which are the most expensive rooms. On first look of the room it was nice.. Quite big, modern and of course a sea view. On a closer look it was very dated... Especially the bathroom. Furniture and decorating very shabby and run down.... More

We had a reservation for 6 people at the new Salvatore restaurant in the Staincliffe hotel last week. On arrival it looked great, a nice small bar/reception and looking into the restaurant we could see a big bright restaurant, loads of empty tables (only 1 family of 4 in there) 2 or 3 booths to the side. Then we were... More

Four of us went for afternoon tea, one of our party was disabled. They couldn't do enough for us. The manager and the waitress were really friendly. We couldn't have had a better afternoon tea if we had gone to the Ritz! Lots of delicious sandwiches, fruit and cheese scones with jam and cream, delicious confectionery. All for the price... More

Since my last review we have visited The Staincliffe for a variety of food, coffee and drinks. However last weekend (Saturday lunch) we went in for a bar meal. I think they have slightly changed the food and it shows. My wifes sandwich and my scampi, chips and salad were superb. Staff as ever, cheerful and helpful.

Stopped over for 1 night and found the room very pleasant and decorated with appealling furnishings. The bathroom was spotless and so was the room. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were supportive and yet not too hard. Breakfast was good with plenty of options of continental and cooked. Loads of toast and tea top ups . Good value...
