We arrived after a long day on the beach and were so impressed with the welcome we received. The decor is a little dated but everything is clean and comfortable. We had a huge room with a sea view, our wine was put in an ice bucket and breakfast was lovely. As a couple of dog lovers the adorable cockerpoo... More

This Hotel is a real step back in time, but what a wonderful greeting and fantastic food! I stayed at the Rock the night before a fairly heavy meeting and I couldn't have picked a better place. The owner is without doubt a very accomplished Hotelier and has ensured that the building has kept all of the 'charm' from many... More

This Hotel may be a bit dated, but the warm welcome, clean crisp white sheets & quietness made for a lovely short break at The Rock. There is ample choice for breakfast and situated only a few minutes from the beach, perfect to walk it off. Jan makes a wonderful, friendly host not forgetting Teddy the dog. We would definitely... I can not say enough good things about The Rock! I have been coming here with my family for over 10 years! The food is great (they have a brilliant chef called Barry), the owner (Jan) is THE BEST host and teddy the dog is adorable :) not only is the food amazing, the hotel itself is beautiful and cosy!... Stumbled across The Rock Hotel whilst driving around Frinton on sea looking for somewhere to stay for the night. Lucky for us they had a vacancy! Stayed in Room 2 which was a very comfortable larger than average room with lovely sea views. Nothing was too much trouble for Jan the owner and chef Barry(not forgetting the adorable Ted!) After... As the other reviewers have said this is an old fashioned hotel and the only hotel in Frinton. Although the decor is from decades gone by, the room was spotless and the bed comfy. Excellent breakfast too. We stayed one night and had a fantastic view of the sea and a dramatic storm during the night.

Booked at the last minute and very helpful. Jan the owner is wonderful always on hand with great knowledge of the area. The hotel is great, a superb Victorian building with lots of original features. We loved it and it lovingly cared for by the owner and her staff. If you want minimalistic modern this is not for you. The... More

We were made very welcome from the moment we stepped in! The bedroom was beautifully set out for our lovely of 2 adults and 2 children. The beds were very nicely made with crisp white sheets. Breakfast was delicious and cooked to order, lovely selection of juices and an endless amount of toast offered with Tiptree jams and marmalades. Lovely,... More

We stayed a night and were very pleasantly surprised how much we enjoyed our stay. Certainly the surroundings are dated a mix of 70's and Victorian wood panelling but all rather welcoming and perfectly comfortable. Our room was certainly quite 70's but the bed was comfortable. the room was. clean with a marvellous sea view, nice comfortable chairs altogether very... More

We decided at the last minute to stay at the Rock Hotel. We could hardly believe our luck ! The views from all the windows are simply lovely. The two rooms we had, had very comfortable beds, and all the basic amenities we needed. This is not a super fancy, updated hotel - rather it is a charming throw back... More
