We were impressed with the Midland. Having read some poor reviews we didn’t know what to expect. Ignore the one who thought it was “not very Art Deco” and those that thought it was not white enough outside and shabby inside. The town might be getting a bit sad but this is a very good hotel, with excellent staff and excellent service. We did have one of the top floor rooms with a large terrace, but most rooms have the wonderful view over the bay to the Lake District peaks. The dining room is beautiful, and the breakfasts excellent, we dined twice and on both occasions the food, especially the fish courses, were very good. We thoroughly enjoyed our two night break.

We came in April 20121 and the restaurant was not open. Such a shame as we have been before and i think it`s such an amazing place. However we were able to have a relaxing coffee outside and enjoy watching people walking past. I hope next time we come, it will be to stay overnight.

Wonderful hotel, evocative of the 30’s glamour period, but bang up to date. The rooms are very large and top quality, the staff are friendly but polite, and the quality of both the restaurant and the food are top notch. There is ample, safe car parking, and the views of Morecambe Bay are outstanding, as the Hotel is right on the sea front.

This was our second visit to this iconic hotel. Our first time was in 2019 but our follow-up visit last year was delayed until June this year. But we were certainly not disappointed. Covid restrictions apart, which are not too onerous, the Midland was as good as it was on our first visit in 2019. At the present time only guests and those with restaurant bookings are allowed in the main part of the hotel and once you have scanned the NHS app and wear a face mask in the public areas, there are no further restrictions. Our bedroom was spotless and very comfortable, and having visited the hotel previously finding the essentials such as the wardrobe and bathroom “hidden” behind the panelling was not a problem! As on our previous visit, the staff are great. Without exception we found them polite, very friendly and helpful. The food, as before, was excellent and all in all, the Midland’s four-star rating is fully justified.
