We stumbled on the Golden Lion while exploring Stirling for the first time on a snowy Saturday. What a pleasant surprise! Very pleasant modern/trad interior, feet wifi and attentive staff. Slap bang in the middle of town and obviously a popular meeting place for ladies of a certain age. The rotary club also uses it as HQ for their weekly...

We stayed for one night before visiting Stirling Castle. The location was excellent and the availability of free parking was a real bonus. The family room was very well appointed with 2 single beds and a double. We would stay again if we were in Stirling.

The hotel is obviously in the process of an overhaul. The reception area and bar/restaurant are leaky and the food is excellent. The room in the other hand was in much need of updating, it was very clean and the bed was comfortable. I suppose it was good value for money and I think we would return, in the hope...

We stayed here for 2 nights on a midweek break and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. On the plus side, the public spaces i.e. the reception, bar, restaurant etc are really lovely, and the lunch was excellent. Our double room was spacious enough for our needs, although maybe a little dated in appearance. On the negative side, the hot water supply...

My wife and I went there at Christmas, the hotel rooms were okay, but needs TLC to them, bar was okay, but a bit pricey, the Christmas Day lunch was well presented, as for the car park it is a bit prehistoric, but my car was safe and that's all I really wanted.

very bad service, waited a good 10 mins before anyone spoke to us. The young boy who eventually served us had no customer service training at all, which made him appear unpleasant Will not be going back, food was not great, asked for butter on a baked pot which seemed to be too much trouble

We were back at the Golden Lion in Stirling during a regular shopping trip. It has a bit of everything. If you like traditional or a bit or history or even just a first rate meal then don't walk past this hotel. It had a renovation job done on the restaurant a few months ago and it was worth the...

We visited the hotel on the 08/12/2016 for two nights. This is not the first time at the hotel as my husbands family comes from Stirling so visiting old haunts. The hotel is in an ideal location for the castle, shops and pubs. The reception area is welcoming and the receptionists are very friendly. The lounge has good décor but...
