The facilities of the hotel itself are quite nice, with the rooms recently, with a nice bathroom but quite small, although it is a very old building. The car park only holds about 20 cars and is quite hard to get to due to one way streets and malls etc. in peak summer season having a car might be tricky.... More

The setting of this beautiful hotel is wonderful, next to the old city and a 10 min walk of the magical Stirling castle . Pity that the room was so damp and very very basic, as if we walked back into the seventies. There staff suggested to look for another room, but the hotel was fully booked due to a... More

As I'm local, I've never actually stayed here but attended events and dined on various occasions. As the cafes in the town get busy at lunchtime (even on a Monday), I decided to have lunch here on two occasions in the past month. The bar and restaurant has been refurbished and is looking immaculate. Love the décor commemorating Robert Burns'... More

If you are thinking of visiting Stirling The Golden Lion Hotel is the most central location. We have stayed here on numerous occasions. There were 10 in our group spread over 5 rooms of varying sizes all costing the same. This time we were allocated Room 102. When we checked in we did notice it's not the biggest room we've ever... We got a great deal for a one nights stay and they were kind enough to let us smuggle our dog in. The room was very clean with all the modern amenities. The breakfast offered was 2nd rate. Congealed eggs and canned fruits. Great location in town

My local friend had warned me but my visitor from Switzerland specifically wished to stay here so we did. It is a historic building with much to interest visitors if this were developed. The bedroom was overpriced and needed renovation and re-decorating. We were turfed out of our beds at 12.30am and onto the street when another guest set off... More

I stayed here last night and did not sleep at all!! I had a 320 mile journey and got to the hotel at 12.40am, as you can imagine I couldn't wait to get into bed after a long journey and get some sleep. I had 2 single beds in my room with unwashed cushions and throws on the bottom and... More
