Nice way to finish off the spring and start the summer. Nice renovations to the cabins. Loved sitting out on the porch and taking in the fresh air. Stopped down by the lake and the scenery was fantastic. The staff was very helpful and the rooms were clean
My husband and I had the most wonderful weekend away at Mountain Lake Cottages. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by the manager Kris who instantly made us feel at home with her kind and welcoming demeanor. The cottages have been recently updated and were very cozy. The bed was super comfortable! It was wonderful having a full kitchen with all new tablewear/serving dishes/utensils at our disposal. Honestly, the spot couldn’t have been more idyllic. We loved sitting on our porch watching the sun set as we rocked in the rocking chairs. Nearby was the Willoughby Lake Store for any quick snacks or milk, not to mention a great take out window and ice cream. We honestly can’t wait to return. If you’re looking for the perfect quiet get away where you are treated like proverbial “family favorite”, don’t think, just book a cottage at Mountain Lake Cottages! You won’t be disappointed.…
Jim and I have been returning to Mountain Lake Cottages for nearly 20 years. Lake Willoughby and it’s surrounding mountains provide incredible opportunities to enjoy, boating, fishing, hiking and memorable sunsets. The cabins at MLC are fully and thoughtfully equipped and recently renovated to enhance ease, comfort and personal tastes. The effortless heating/cooling system was a real bonus with this year’s variety of weather changes! Kris ,the manager, continues the long and welcoming tradition of cheerful and immediate responsiveness to individual needs and suggestions. No request goes unanswered. It is always a pleasure to stay and difficult to leave as there is always more to explore and enjoy. Cannot wait to return!!
My wife & I took our son up to Lake Willoughby and stayed 3 nights at Mountain Lake Cottages. We had an awesome 3 night vacation. Kris the GM warmly welcomed us and showed us our cabin # 3. Explained those things we needed to know for our stay and offered her help with anything we may need for the next 3 nights. All the cabins have undergone an extensive makeover during the off season. New floors, heating/cooling system, new mattress's in each bedroom and stainless steel pots & pans in the cabinets. These upgrades added to the charm & character of the log cabin. We unpacked and settled ourselves on rocking chairs on the front porch within 50 feet of beautiful lake Willoughby. The warm sunshine and brisk breeze off the lake made it perfect for relaxing after a long drive from our home in Massachusetts. The Lake Willoughby Store just a minute or two down the street made it convenient for ordering a delicious pizza and turkey wrap for dinner on the porch. After hours of peaceful, relaxation on the porch we were tired. There was no problem sleeping on the comfortable beds. We slept like a log each of the 3 nights. The new heating/cooling system came in handy to take the chill off the cabin in the mornings. We spent the next couple of days exploring the region. Driving to the top of Burke Mountain and all around the area. In Lyndonville, we found the town common a perfect spot for our picnic lunch. Sub sandwiches & chips from the Lake store were delicious! The cabins are rustic but a perfect place to sit back and relax and enjoy the lake. The sunsets are incredible over the lake and the loons make it special. We highly recommend Mountain Lake Cottages for your next getaway. Kris's hospitality and the warmth of the log cabins will make it worth the trip.…
I highly recommend staying here if you want to enjoy a quaint lakeside stay. The cottage we stayed in (#8) was updated in the offseason yet still retained a Vermont rustic cottage feel to it. The view from the cottage porch of the lake was awesome. Although the beginning of June was too early for us to enjoy the lakeside amenities, they looked like they would be perfect during a warmer part of the season. The room and grounds were clean and well maintained. Kris, the on-site property manager, was friendly and attentive.
I highly recommend this small resort for any one looking for a terrific, peaceful vacation on Lake Willoughby. The wonderful service began the minute we stepped out of our vehicle with Kris, the Manager, and her employee, Peter, helping my elderly mother to the cabin and then came back to help me unload our vehicle. Cabin #2, our rustic looking but fully updated, well stocked and very clean, home for our 3 day stay was 100' from the water's age and had the most amazing view of Lake Willoughby, the mountains and the gorgeous sunsets. Even though it was Memorial Weekend, the property was very peaceful. There are 2 docks on the lakefront where guests can moor their own boats or use the rowboats provided.
Right from it's serene and tranquil settings, to its rustic, super clear and extremely comfortable dwellings - and above all it's magical host - I only find superlatives to attribute my experience with Mountain Lake Cottages, every time we visit here. It leaves such a sweet taste that it definitely beacons you to come back and that's exactly that has been happening to us. Renee - The host - She is way too good. Very sweet, courteous and tireless - Loves her job and makes the stay so pleasant. I wish this property all success , and its highly recommended to every nature lover. We are definitely coming back.
My niece and I had a relaxing two night stay at cabin #1 of this magical place. Our cabin sat atop the second tier of gently rolling hills that led to the sparkling Willoughby Lake below. We cooled off in the crystal clear water, took a gorgeous hike a short drive from the cottages and ended our stay with a fantastic and relaxing kayak ride, lasting about 2 hours, provided by Clyde River Recreation- the nicest guys you'll ever meet! Lastly, our cottage host, Renee was expertly attentive and accommodating. It is instantly apparent that she loves her job and making her guests happy. We look forward to making our adventure here an annual event,
The cottages are right on the water, two docks, kayak and row boats are available. The step down onto the sandy water for an afternoon swim in the crystal clear water. Built in 1942 these log cabins are spotlessly clean with a sweet kitchen (stove w/over, refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker. Common area has a stone fireplace. Two bedroom cabin sleeps seven. Rockers on the porch face the water for quiet coffee as you watch the loons and mallards in the morning sun. The owner, Renae, is friendly, ready to help with any questions. Ten cabins available, even for weddings! If you like nature, relaxing to the sounds of the lake and want to get away.....this is for you! We're going BACK!
If you’re looking to truly unplug, this is the place! They are no frills cabins, but have everything you need for a relaxing getaway. Renee is friendly and hospitable. There isn’t too much in the area, so be sure to bring what you will want/need (especially food!). Note: there is a small grocery store & dollar store if need be, but be mindful of their hours! The area is natural, beautiful, and peaceful.
