Me and my fiancee stayed for 2 nights at Hyades Mountain Resort. The view was really nice, the service excellent and the moments we spent there one of a kind!

The tree house: Top quality, luxurious, with jacuzzi and a fireplace. Comfortable space in general, with a well-equipped kitchen. Really warm even during the coldest days/nights.

The owner: Mr. Giannis embraced us with his hospitality even since we were still on the road towards the resort. He was really helpful and willing to assist us in whatever we needed. He spent some time to discuss with us where we should go, what to try and what to avoid. He also made sure we had plenty of breakfast and more than enough firewood along with firelighters.

Food: The breakfast was a mix of pre-packaging stuff (croissants, ham & cheese) and handmade products (eggs. milk, jam), so it was pretty much suitable for all tastes. Coffee and tea were also available in the kitchen. On the extras, we had a bottle of red wine and the possibility to order food at the house in case we wanted to.

All in all, I would highly recommend this place to others, including friends, families, etc and would definitely go there again. You may ask Mr. Giannis for board games also ;-)

Our overall experience was poor.

We visited the place this July during heat wave. Although on booking air conditioning is mentioned as room facility there was none in the room. The result was that you couldn’t stand a moment inside during the day and you could barely sleep in the night.

Also we were 4 adults and the house had one double bed, one sofa bed and a portable bed that was uncomfortable.

The breakfast was not good (and we paid extra for that). Everything included, was on the room (in 35degrees) and on our fridge from the first day we arrived (mainly prepackaged stuff and medium quality) and they were never refilled.

Finally, we paid 40€ more than the price in booking (we directly booked through the property and then checked in booking)

On the good site, the place is beautiful with nice view and many things to visit in the area.

Response from Stefanos Lazopoulos, Owner at Hyades Mountain Resort
Responded Aug 3, 2021
Hello, Sorry but the airc is mentioned for the wooden cave and not for the chalet, also there are plenty of fans but in general no needed due to high altitude! The breakfast is preserved and packed due to covid situation and refilled upon request! Thats the goverment rules! Also the price for the 4 persons chalet is what you paid and its not possible to find something else in booking because we are not online in booking.com this period!! Next time inform us for your inquiries before you proceed to unrealistic commenting! Thank you anyway.

I selected this hotel after reading top-notch reviews in both tripadvisor and booking.com. And I could not be more disappointed

It is not that it's bad, but really it's just OK. Average. But a 9.9/10?? I really didn't see any quality to justify that...

Let me share some insight:

1) Accommodation was fine. Nice. But in no way unique or exceptional. The rooms and furniture were comfortable, but the surrounding area was kind of neglected

2) On the plus: Great view

3) No breakfast. A fridge full of products, but most of them pre-packaged and not the best quality. Adding a couple of local product doesn't make an excellent experience

4) Overbearing and tiring owner. Talked too much and "insisted" in getting compliments even if it should have been obvious that we didn't feel like giving any

5) Unprofessionalism and a lot of bad surprises: Booked a room with A/C, but there was none. Owner spent hours explaining and apologizing, ensuring is that this is an honest mistake (wrote A/C instead of Heating) but 2 months later, the same "mistake" appears in booking.com. Also, while on same booking site, it clearly states that credit cards are accepted, this was not the case. The owner initially asked for us to go to a bank and deposit payment. When we refused (due to the extra effort this needs), he suggested he sends someone to pick money later on. In general this was uncomfortable and inconvenient

6) Last but not least. The owner asked us not to rate the hotel in internet rating sites, unless we are going to give top marks, so that we "don't spoil the high average". In my view this is totally unprofessional and plain out wrong

Bottom-line: While the accommodation itself is average, the overall experience was poor. I would not stay in this hotel again, or recommend it to others

This hotel is overrated, I would describe it as average for its price. Yes, it is unique in that it is made of logs, but heating in the log cabin is noisy and spoils the natural atmosphere. Mr Yiannis is excellent in PR... be prepared! When he received guests he makes it a point to spend at least half an hour pointing and emphasising the assets of his property one by one, waaaaay overdoing it. At the end of the pep talk you are converted. The log houses are OK, the furnishings are adequate but nothing special. The mattresses are slightly on the hard side, especially the couch that is converted to a bed. The breakfast is unacceptable. There may be fresh eggs, fresh milk, and good honey...but everything else is low quality, all packaged industrial cheese, ham, bread, cake and croissant.

We visited Hyades Mountain resort in June 2014 and stayed for four days. We really enjoyed our stay. It felt like home! The wooden house is perfect and it has everything one can need, the garden in front of the house is equally nice and the view is great! Yiannis Lazopoulos, the owner of the resort, gave us the warmest welcome! We definitely recommend it and we are looking forward for our next visit!

We are a four member family (two year old daughter and four months old son) and we visited this resort on August of 2013, because we couldn't find a good place to stay near the sea, but it prooved to be the best place we have ever visited, compared even to expensive luxury hotels. The wooden houses are big enough to make you feel very comfortable and they are cleaned every single day (when you have a four month old baby, you want a very clean place and it was, despite of being at the country). The owner, Mr John, seems to love his job and he is doing everything he can to make you feel like home. We desided to stay 2 days more and he arranged to have our clothes washed, free of charge of course. Finally, it was the first time that I thought that what I got was more than what I gave!!!

Excellent location and great view. The houses are beautiful and everything, up to the smallest detail, is well taken care after. Spacious bedroom and bathroom with jacuzi and outside view. Breakfast with local products inside the room and well equipped kitchen. The owner is very kind and helpful. Definitely will visit again, since it is only 2 hrs drive from Athens.
