I'd recommend everyone to try afternoon tea at Horsley Hall. We booked on the morning for the two hour slot in the Pod and we were really impressed. The Pod is at the bottom of the garden and can be turned so everyone can enjoy the sunning view. After a warm welcome we started off the afternoon with prosecco then... More

We had our very personal family wedding here, it was the most amazing day and all of that was due to our wonderful hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. The whole place was immaculate, food outstanding. The wonderful Liz, Angela! And long suffering Derek! (Just kidding) made their home feel like ours, all our guests did not want to go... More

We stayed recently during our coast to coast cycle. We arrived cold and wet on bicycles after torrential rain, dreaming of a luxurious hot bath! Our stay exceeded all our expectations, we were met with a warm welcome, afternoon tea and the much needed baths. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. Our evening meal and breakfast were wonderful.... More

We visited Horsley Hall for afternoon tea yesterday and were so impressed with the beautiful surroundings and the fantastic food! We had afternoon tea in the pod which was amazing and the service was fantastic. The lady who served us was lovely and very accommodating to our dietary needs. We went to an event at Auckland Castle last week and stayed at Horsley Hall for two nights. Horsely is in Weardale on a minor road South of the River Wear. So the location is very peaceful and rural but it's not remote. Weardale is a pretty dale with interesting villages and features. The hotel was a hunting lodge for... More

My husband and I stayed recently after taking part in a coast to coast bike ride and this was just what we needed after sitting on a bike for 6 hours. I don't normally take baths in hotels but I made an exception here because the place was absolutely spotless. The room was amazing (wonderful attention to detail) and beautifully... More

We stayed at Horsley Hall recently when a large group of us took part in the C2C cycle ride. We were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble! We all wished we could have stayed longer. We had a fabulous meal, we stayed in extremely comfortable rooms and our hosts were charming. We will be back!... More

For my birthday my partner surprised me with afternoon tea in the orb here and it was beautiful! Set in stunning grounds and the food was amazing. Liz was such a lovely lady who was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble for her. I definitely recommended this place to anyone and at £29pp it was very reasonable too!

Visited Horsley Hall for afternoon tea with my mum and sister. We visited on a really sunny day but there a bit of a breeze, however, in the pod it was beautiful and we could turn the pod to take advantage of the spectacular views but stay out of the breeze. The afternoon tea itself was delicious all home made... More

A lovely old building in the heart of Weardale, with beautiful views. Our room was very comfortable and spacious with every need met. The food was delicious, cooked to order using fresh local produce. The hotel gardens were well kept and provided a lovely place to sit and read after a day out. Liz and her staff did everything they... More
