Stayed here for one night on business. Newlands Hall is set up in beautiful rolling countryside and the house itself is a rather grand farmhouse. Carol the host is great, welcoming on arrival, and then leaves you alone. The room was spacious and well appointed and the bathroom was also of a very high standard with a free standing bath... This place was booked on a deal but we had to pay £20 extra for Saturday night and £20 if we wanted upgrade to the rose room which was bigger with a shower and stand alone bath (husband loved laying in it with bubbles whilst looking through the picture window over all the hills and animals!) The place was hard... More

Stayed for 2 nights in the Rose Room last Friday and Saturday. Carol was the perfect host with great attention to detail and small personal touches that made a real difference. This is a working farm with spectacular views over the Weardale countryside. Breakfast was a buffet style with plenty of choice plus the full English which was excellent. Great... More

Stayed here last October, and just got around to writing my review as rebooked. Welcomed by a lovely lady called Carol, who couldn't do enough for me. Room was lovely and clean with homemade flapjacks on arrival. Breakfast was outstanding beautiful full English. The views from the room are incredible. Would recommend this B and B to anyone.

This was to be honest quite bad, my daughter treated my wife and myself to a two night break for my 70th birthday in 2015. What can I say, breakfast was cold by the time Carol stopped talking, she went on for two days telling us how she was not making any money from the voucher deals that we were... More

Sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us. April is a lovely time of year to visit, with sheep and lamb in most fields. Unfortunately you stayed 9 months ago mid week and we can't remember what was happening on the farm the 2 day you were here. There are 3 pubs in Wolsingham offering food 7 nights... More

1 night stay on Saturday night for Polar Express Weardale Railway. Opted to stay here based on some excellent reviews and wasn't disappointed. Not sure why a couple of people have left bad reviews but each to their own i guess Firstly i have to say the location is spectacular! Our drive up was through the mountains which was fantastic!... Not a friendly atmosphere during our stay. Although the ensuite bathroom is good the bedroom is uncomfortable and lacks thought and investment because there is no lounge. The heating was limited and our towels were still damp on our daily return. One day our room had not been serviced. This was my birthday holiday present.

Sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay with us. Unfortunately the foggy wet weather did not help with your long journey up and with you planned trips to Hexham, Bishop Auckland and Barnard Castle. Our lounge is available for guests to use as we no longer have a separate guest lounge as it was very rarely used. Its... More

Firstly I have to say that our room, the same as the lowest rating given, was spotless. No dust to note, but then I don't go looking in every nook n cranny. As for the fridge noise, minimal. We stayed here for 2 nights and would visit again if ever in the area. The views are magnificent and as it... More

With delightful views and a real working farm as our base we were pleased to return here following a two night stay last year. The farmhouse is peaceful, the area beautiful and the breakfasts wholesome and tasty. Our hostess couldn't have done more to make our stay a success, including providing a delicious home - made afternoon tea for our... More
