Drink vouchers were adequate and staff were very pleasant. Coach companys keep these victorian hotels open.Entertainment was average but we enjoyed our 4 night stay Upvgrade if you prefer your... We travelled to Ilfracombe with Shearings and the Journey took 7 hours. First impression of the Hotel was poor because the front was covered with scaffolding which was not communicated to us. The Hotel is good, nicely decorated and in a good location, the rooms are fine and the entertainment is good, the food in the restaurant is excellent. The... More

We stayed here a couple of weeks ago from Monday to Friday. Liked the 4 drinks each day voucher, the buffet breakfast and the Steak night, which we had to pay extra for, but was worth it. We were a bit perturbed by coming out of the bathroom one morning and seeing one of the workmen walking on the scaffolding... More

I admit to having never been on a coach holiday before so that in itself was a first for us. We were given a large, front facing room that as soon as you opened the door, smelt "stale". It really was a horrible smell..... but imagine this! Our very large window was surrounded with scaffolding and there was a man... More

A lovely weekend break at the dilkhusa. As always the staff were brilliant, the food good as was the entertainment. They are renovating the front so there is scaffold up most of the frontage.Garry and staff gave a prompt and pleasant bar service and Inga and Santiago looked after us well in the dining room. So once again a big... More

This is my sister and I's third visit to a Bay Hotel (three nights) and each time we are always very pleased we have chosen a Bay Hotel again. This hotel is in a perfect location, an easy walk to Ilfracombe harbour, the shopping area is fairly hilly from the hotel and harbour but manageable. This a large hotel with... More

Just stayed for 3 nights at the Bay Dilkhusa Grand hotel, All the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel outside is in the process of being refurbished, and a new lift has been installed inside. There are decorative problems throughout the hotel, but it is an old building. I sat in the bar on one day, when water started... More

We were here for three nights, our first time at this hotel, our first coach trip as well, thoroughly enjoyed it . The hotel is quite old and there are lots of steps not very good for the disabled although there are lifts. But this aside the staff are fab, friendly and helpful. The food was lovely all you can... We stayed at this hotel for a long weekend on a self drive with shearings and it was great the room was big enough for the three of us, and it was clean and tidy. The food was ok but the hotel was full and there was three sittings so they had their work cut out to cater for everybody,... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Situated on the level seafront of this hugely popular Victorian seaside resort stands the welcoming Dilkhusa Grand Hotel. The hotel was originally a private house, bought by a Raj at the turn of the last century as a gift to his wife - Dilkhusa translates from Hindustani roughly as ‘House of the Happy Heart!’ The hotel overlooks the picturesque Runnymede gardens and is close to the Landmark theatre which attracts many national acts. It is also just a short walk from the bustling 10th-century harbour where Britain’s most famous living artist, Damien Hirst, owns a restaurant. The Dilkhusa has a well-appointed restaurant combining excellent hospitality and service. A spacious and comfortable entertainments suite provides the ideal setting in which to sit back and enjoy the acts at this friendly and sociable hotel. ... more   less
