My own personal experience and a handful of others of this place was that Check out day felt like the start of the holiday! The owner John is as unnapproachable person as they come his overall attitude was "give me my money and go" Basil Fawlty would be considered a master of social skills in comparison!. Upon arrival became very...

Three of us have stayed here twice now for the festival. John offered a choice of rooms on both visits. Beds are clean and comfortable and rooms have perfectly adequate shower or bath facilities. I believe that they take school bookings so there are lots of beds in the rooms which gives you room to spread. John was more than...

Well, having looked on the web site and it looked fjne, i booked this hotel for a last minute break. The owner couldn't be more helpful or friendly, but the hotel needs upgrading. I was waiting for Basil Fawlty to step out from behind the desk. When i got there he hadn't got my booking. no problem as i was the...

To say this was a disappointment is about right as the owner is so friendly and helpful that it makes you feel bad about complaining about how dated the place was. We stayed in the family room which was quite large but the bathroom was only the size of a wardrobe. I could sit on the toilet with my feet...

I was looking for a last minute family break on a shoestring budget, all the South Coast resorts were way out of our reach then I happened across The Altavia. I read mixed reviews but decided to give it a chance. I would recommend calling direct before booking. John, the owner booked our Ferry tickets for us saving us a...

Had booked my short break through Expedia that was the start of things to go so wrong. My wife, my grandson and myself arrived at the hotel only to be told we were not expected, after lots of phone calls eventually we were allowed a room. Was then told by the manager that if we didn't like this room then...

I have not had a holiday in ten years, my fiance surprised me by booking a break for us at the hotel. IT AN AMAZING PLACE! So clean, good food, lovely bar. The grounds are also great. John and his wonderful wife, we're so very friendly, we are going back there for our "Honeymoon" When we arrived, we we're told...

As another reviewer said, in time warp - like old folks home, needs big money spent on this. Booking in was like something off Hotel Inspector. Owner and staff trying to be nice but laughably inefficient. Told breakfast was at 8.30. They don't mean 8.30 - 10.00 - they mean 8,30... we were knocked up at 8.40 to go down....
