Detailed Reviews
While the rooms are not the newest and have seen better days, our overall experience was great. We got a room upgrade for free (as we were travelling with a 6 year old and there was just this one room free) so instead of s double + extra bed we got a two room family room. It was like 10 meters away from the play room so 'yay!'. The swimming pool was a pretty good size, there were a kids's pools and a jaccuzi, but not a lot of attractions for kids, but okay for a swim nonetheless. Compared to some 4-star spas I've visited over this summer this was definitely a good deal. Breakfast was okay, nothing exceptional. Pub food was pretty good. Overall the staff was accomodating and the location is beautiful.

Visited the pub in the Puhajarve hotel once again. Every time I get there prices are higher but food still from deepfryer without any better service. You need to order at the bar and take your drinks, food is brought to your table. If you want a second drink you have to go to the same bar again. Etc
Soup Seljanka the Russian meat soup came with a strong taste of horse raddish which I never got before and it was not nice.
Thea assortment they changed to a cheaper one but price the same. Not nice either.
All over this time wasn't ok at that place and I doubt if I will go back in the near future.

It was a simple and a bit outdated hotel, I was expecting more. Spa was a disappointment as it was just a swimming pool and one small jacuzzi. These were very overcrowded and it was unpleasant. It was also unpleasant that you could see from the pool area to saunas and shower area as the saunas were with windows. Location is excellent and very beautiful, but I would probably not go back to this hotel.

Yacuzzi very very cold! Supposedly 32°C but we were shaking. It's not a spa, rather a swimming hall. There's 1 jacuzzi, 1 swimming pool, 1 kids pool. Men and women saunas are separate (finnish sauna and steam sauna). Our bed kept falling 2 pieces, otherwise room was ok, but nothing special. Robes are in the room, but for a 110kg man a bit tight so, no slippers.... Breakfast was kinda ok but coffee is nowhere near drinkable. Orange juice has the color but zero taste, yellow water basically, but lingonberry juice was like pure syrup... In the pub snacks are nice but they don't serve coctails. Luckily we were got gift card for this place from a friend and we didn't pay for this.
If you are expecting a nice romantic getaway, then it is definitely not the place!

Hotel Spa at super location. Was only at the hotel, no spa. The hotel is shouting inside restoring. Other wise ok. Very friendly staff. I was also eating at the pub, food and service below average, felt like went 20 years back in time, when I looked and tasted the food.

There was a waterpipe behind the wall of our room and it creates a lot of noise 24/7. Our bathroom smells and you cant take a shower without overflooding the whole bathroom floor. The restaurant was totally packed during breakfast and we had to wait for a free table. No Covid19 rules have been followed at the restaurant other than hand disinfection possibility. Social distancing is ignored, food is not protected.
Didnt visit the SPA area, hopefully its worth the 2 star rating. Never going back there though..

I would like to write much better review ,but as it goes 1 spoon of tar is going to ruin a barrel of honey ;-/. Just some samples- if one have to go to his spa procedures through crowded bowling hall in bath robes and slippers, just a bit embarrassing , but when after infra red sauna one finds that only chance to get sweat off is toilet paper/napkin vendor as in public toilet ,it's becoming rude . And if some one wants to enjoy sauna and swimming pool early- some of staff will be to sleepy to give any help with directions and advice where to go and what to do....be ready for some pioneering round the building if from brave spirit sort.
Breakfast is plentiful and tasty and worth to take it fully, because lunch- mhmmm ,tasty ,but- I like fish, but i'm not sure every one do, and there is not any choice. Chief said- fish it is !
We are not sorry for staying there, but for next time will look for some another place .For price paid- more as 400Euro , for 2 nights ,there are places around without counting.
If You want can try - procedures are OK, rooms clean, runarounds nice, risk is yours.

Pitbull must have stayed in this establishment when he and his producers wrote his latest hit single "back in time", because that's exactly how it feels like in Pühajärve SPA. The room looks quite dated and the bathroom is reminiscent of the first years of Estonia's newly regained independence.
The staff's working culture originates from the same era - they never smile nor do they seem to care what is your opinion of the stay and service in general. For some reason they felt it absolutely unnecessary to let us know that the restaurant was booked for a private event on Saturday night, leaving us with no real options for a decent dinner (there is only one more restaurant in the village, and that was already full when we were "banned" from our own restaurant).
Breakfast is a disappointment - the choice is narrow and quality poor. There isn't even a cookie to go with a cup of coffee!
And the best bit - allegedly a SPA hotel does not include bathrobes in your room. You have to rent them separately from the SPA reception and return prior to check-out, or pay a 20-something € penalty. You also need to go through the SPA reception every time you feel like a swim to get the locker key. Naturally there's a queue every time.
The pool attendant is mean, constantly nagging with children for playing and the whole pool area is a sorry excuse for a SPA - only one jacuzzi, 2 underwater massage showers and a nasty baby pool where the water is too cold.
Suggestion - these guys should really go back to their roots and call themselves Pühajärve Sanatoorium - that's what it really is.

The hotel is in a beautiful area, but it is definitely not a spa hotel. There are 100 times better options for spa hotels in Estonia, either in Narva-Jõesuu, Kuressaare or Tallinn. Stayed in a suite in the newer part and it was fine, nothing remarkable though.
There is just 1 pool for kids and 1 for adults, 1 jacuzzi and that is it. Customer service is indifferent, but prices in downstair pub are cheap.

For a short stay it was nice. The sportspossibilities around the lake were many, rollerblade, rollerski, swim, bowling, jogging.... golf on Otepää Golf was closeby and nice.
Breakfast was varied and reception service helpful.
I did not try the SPA myself, but in the breakfast room I overheard only praise for massages and other treatments, not a single complaint.
