Over the course of the years, my family has been to many all inclusive resorts in the Caribbean. We usually end up going back to a Beaches/Sandals resort, but my mom and I wanted to try something different this time. The Pros: Despite the unremarkable entrance to the resort, the actual resort itself is beautiful. It is definitely bit more unique than other resorts we’ve stayed at, as all of the buildings are built around nature rather than over it. We did notice the resort was substantially smaller than the massive resorts we’ve stayed at in the past, but that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. There was naturally less nightlife and activities than there are at larger resorts, but that didn’t bother us. There were still plenty of daily activities available including hikes to Devil’s Bridge (strongly recommend), coconut bowling, water aerobics, corn hole, and jewelry making. My mom and I were worried about ending up at a “couples” resort but this resort definitely caters to all types of guests. Our room was clean and beautiful. We usually turn down daily room service but it is important to note the staff only comes in to clean and change towels every other day rather than every day. The food was fairly decent but it is very much “all-inclusive” food. The buffet was pleasantly good however there are not TONS of options at each meal if you are a picky eater. The poolside snack shack was great for lunch, however the gem on this resort had to be The Outhouse. It is quite a bit of an uphill walk to get to this little BBQ shack but it’s well worth it for the views and grub. The cons: There was one pretty major problem with the resort. They were very clearly understaffed. Despite watching the staff constantly working and moving, it clearly wasn’t enough to accommodate a full resort, especially since there were so many cruise folk that purchased daily passes to stay and eat at the resort for the day. Tables definitely were not getting turned over quickly at dinner, and there was always a line to be seated at the buffet (again, it wasn’t due to lack of effort by the staff, there simply wasn’t enough of them). The resort seemed to empty out by the end of our trip and the service drastically improved. The first reservation we had was at Pineapple Heart. The food was very mediocre. 2/3 of my striploin was very good but the other 1/3 was so tough it couldn’t be cut with a knife. I would have let that slide, if it didn’t take 2 hours for us to be served our food. We had to go and get salads from the buffet while we were waiting. Pineapple grill was better in both food and service, but still wasn’t quite as impressive as I was hoping for a sit down restaurant, as a lot of it looked similar to what was being served a the buffet. With the restaurants being mediocre we ended up eating out, and I strongly recommend Shirley Heights which is spectacular in both food and views. We did some pretty great excursions but if you can book them yourself, do it! We had PBR book them for us at their excursion desk and when we checked out, they charged us a pretty substantial fee for booking it for us, when we could have just called the company directly. Speaking of fees, please be prepared to pay the daily resort fee ($24) when you leave, along with a $5 daily tax hotels in Antigua are required to charge. We expected there to be some extra charges when we left, both others around us were quite upset about these charges. The okay: We were very excited for the beautiful Antiguia beaches having heard they were some of the best. We had high expectations having been to Jamaica, Punta Cana, and Turks & Caicos. For the most part, a beautiful beach is what we got but there are a few things of note. First, if you are a beach walker, don’t expect to get to walk too far as the beach is enclosed by rocks and cliffs on both sides. There is a little strip of souvenir shops just down the beach that are fun to visit. Most days, the beach was fairly windy. The waves made the crystal clear water a bit murky near the beach, but it got clear again once you swam a bit out. The waves were by no means swells and it was fairly easy to get out to the small floaties the resort has docked in the water. The amount of seaweed present on the beach was not something I was expecting. I know seaweed naturally washes up on the beaches, but past resorts we have stayed up cleaned up the seaweed daily. At first, then only thing PBC did to combat this problem was to sweep it all into piles and leave it there. Later in the week they got some heavy equipment to remove some of the seaweed, but still left at least half of it behind on the beach when they were done. I will also say that past resorts would have their staff up early sweeping the seaweed off beaches, but at PBC they never seemed to start sweeping until 10 or 11, so a good portion of our days were spent with a ton of seaweed everywhere. Summary: All in all I would definitely recommend PBC if you’re looking more for a relaxing vacation instead of a party one. We were looking for a quiet, rejuvenating vacation so this was perfect for us. We would return to both Antigua and PBC.

Pineapple Beach Club is my vacation perfection. Read the categories below to see if it would be yours. BEACH A lovely stretch of that perfect Caribbean aqua blue water I dream of. It's a wide open beach with soft sand. The ocean is wavy, but not overwhelming. They have approximately five circular "floats" tethered out about six feet into the ocean you can sit on and could fit up to about four people. There are water sports I will include under activities. There are plenty of beach loungers. There are approximately six small shaded tents on the beach to fit two people and a small area with shade and some palm tree umbrella coverings. When we were there, the capacity was at 50% and we never had any problems getting beach chairs or being under the tents or shade. I could not say how much of a challenge that might be if they had higher capacity. At the end of the Pineapple Beach Club beach area, it continues to another small beach where there are small vendor shacks and one of them seemed to rent umbrellas and chairs. I suppose if you needed shade and they were out of shaded areas at Pineapple Beach, you could maybe rent one of those umbrellas to bring over but we never had a problem. That small area of public beach does get some people, but it's not bothersome at all. It was a very small amount of people and the vendor shacks in that area sold souvenir-type items if you were interested in partaking. POOLS There are two pools. One main pool which has a waterfall. It was clean (but cold) and there was hardly anyone in it except for aqua aerobics every day at 10:30 (more in activities section on that). Music is playing during the hour long aqua aerobics, but besides that there is not booming music all day at the pool, which I found to be wonderful. The other pool is the infinity pool, which is the quiet pool. It is small but has a lovely view of the beach and nice and peaceful. Both pools are conveniently located to two different outdoor bars, where drinks are easily available without much of a wait at all. I did not experience any issues getting beach/pool towels at any time. They were always available and not a problem. FOOD There is Topaz, the main restaurant. Topaz is your only breakfast option, which is a buffet. The breakfast buffet was perfect with an egg/omelet station, a buffet of bacon, sausage, breakfast potatoes, sometimes vegetables, fresh fruits, pastries, breads, smoked salmon and basically whatever you might need for breakfast. Topaz is open for lunch as an a la carte regular restaurant. Your other option for lunch is the "Outhouse". This is an outdoor restaurant up on a hill. They serve fresh barbecue at lunch i.e., bbq chicken, bbq ribs, fish in parchment paper with vegetables, they have salads and fresh fruit to go with it. The Outhouse has the most stunning views of the Antigua beach down below. To have lunch up there is a truly transcendent experience and hard to describe unless you are there. It's a bit of a walk uphill, so if that's difficult for you, you can get one of the porters to drive you up there in a golf cart. For lunch, there is also a pool/snack bar that has basic burgers/fries, veggie burgers etc. For dinner there are two restaurants available by reservation, Chef Pietro or Pineapple Grill. Chef Pietro is Italian and very good. Pineapple Grill is upscale American food very good. Topaz has dinner buffet most nights. Some nights they do a special dinner. We were there on a Wednesday night where they did a "Carnival" night with local buffet cuisine. There is a coffee shop open from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Cappuccinos made to order and espresso and regular coffees. They had some pastries available and ice cream. I am a New York City foodie so my take on the food is, it's good. I was not blown away by the food, but I also wasn't disappointed in it. It's good and I think most people would enjoy it. I don't think you would come to this resort with food as the main draw. I am also Celiac and gluten free. I sent an email ahead of time and spoke with various chefs when I was there to make accommodations. Some of the chefs were outstanding and made me gluten free muffins for breakfast and made sure I had gluten free breads. Then there were days where it seemed nobody communicated with each other and that wasn't available. I was always able to find gluten free food wherever I was except for really the pool bar or the coffee shop. ACTIVITIES There was an activity board up every day with times for each activity. Aqua aerobics every day at 10:30 was a good workout most days with lots of the guests participating. All day they had various activities, some athletic, some dart games, some beach bowling, some trivia games, some bingo, some water balloon tossing, some cocktail making classes... it ran the gamut. You could be busy all day if you want or do absolutely none of it! It's up to you. There are tennis courts and a fully stocked indoor gym. They had an excursions desk that seemed fully staffed. We did not do any excursions so I could not comment on those. Nighttime activities could be a DJ with dancing, a band, karaoke and if you are lucky, a Carnival night once a week which is a parade akin to a true Caribbean Carnival, so much fun! Night activities settle down around 10:30, 11 so if you want to get to sleep, the noise will stop then. WATER (BEACH) ACTIVITIES On Pineapple Beach, there is a water activity hut. It was great, they have floats and fins for snorkel off the beach available. Bring your own mask and mouthpiece, due to Covid restrictions they do not have those. They have beach kayaks, Hobie sailboats and never seemed to be a wait for any of it. SPA Not much of a "spa" but I went for a massage and it was professional grade. My back was in bad shape and Marbee, my masseuse, fixed me right up. They have basic spa treatments, massages and facials. ROOM We stayed in a waterfront room. We had a balcony with two chairs facing the ocean and the view was breathtaking. The room was good size for two people with a king bed, toilet/shower area with a door, and open sink area. The room was clean and functional and had a great view. I was not inside the beachfront or other rooms to speak of them. All the rooms seemed to be not modern but clean. VERY IMPORTANT room tip....we were on the top floor of the waterfront rooms (floor 3) our view was great and we loved it, but there were many steps. There are no elevators and it was quite a challenge. If you have any restrictions, I would let them know ahead of time so you are on a floor without so many steps. STAFF Just the heart and soul of this place. Every person you come in contact with from the porters to the bartenders, the wait staff, the activities staff, front desk... all of them. They will do whatever they can to take care of you and get you what you need with a smile on their face. There's one or two not so helpful, but you have that anywhere. It's a testament to their management and the people of Antigua how lovely their staff is. CLEANLINESS I am a neat freak, germ phobe. This place was clean, and that's a lot coming from me. I never felt worried about cleanliness in any of the common areas or eating areas. The pools were very clean as was the beach. I never saw a bug in my room (and I was checking!) Some natural bugs outside but very minimal. Our vacation was still in "Covid times" and there were sanitizer stations everywhere and the staff are all wearing masks all the time, which I genuinely appreciated. OVERALL This resort is not super modern, but well kept. The beach is quiet. The staff is helpful. You can do lots of activities or none at all. It's adults only, so no screaming kids. The guests ran the gamut from families with adult children to couples to friends vacationing together at ages ranging from in the 20s to the 80s and everyone had a great time with each other. This is not a place if you want to go party and have loud music all day. It's wonderful if you want to go relax and do some activities when you are ready on a stunning beach in a safe setting. You choose your level of intensity. I'll be back, and I wish it could be today!

This resort is tired and dated. Entertainment was almost nonexistent and when offered, it felt like a night out while in camp. Management is not visible. The room had cobwebs, mold, no shelves or hooks in the bathroom, and was very dark and dingy. Beach chairs are old and uncomfortable and should have been replaced years ago. Not a comfortable chair anywhere and the cushions on couches are well-worn and dirty. There was a continuous shortage of beach towels and no one was ever around who could take care of the problem. Long lines for freshly prepared food, as one cook left on their own to handle. Resort was very understaffed. Not a Caribbean vibe at this resort.

We have just returned from a perfect holiday at Pineapple Beach. Rooms: spotlessly clean, super comfortable bed, large walk-in shower with glass screen and plenty of hotwater, lovely free toiletries. Housekeeping was only every other day, but we knew this in advance and it wasn't a problem. Food: The al a cartes really weren't much better than the buffet, which we found to be a surprize. The choice was good and although the food wasnt amazing it was definitely good enough! Breakfast was the best, Jo Annes omelettes and poached eggs were divine. Drinks: Fabulous selection of premium spirits and daily cocktails - bartenders always happy to make your requested drinks. Pimms also available which was lovely on the beach! White, Red and Rose wine all very acceptable. Beach: Amazing white soft sand, turquoise sea, gentle waves. There was seaweed on a few days but the staff were quick to clear it up and it really did not spoil the sea/beach atall. Staff: They really do make this place really very special, everybody was super helpful and always smiling - special thanks to Ashleigh & Vincent We met some lovely people and had a great holiday, we would definitely return.

This resort had it all. First of all, the food was magnificent. We could not believe the quantity, variety and taste of everything. We had multiple a la carte meals and one was better than the next. The buffet was wonderful too and the freshness of the fruits and vegetables were top notch. The Italian restaurant night tasted like we were in New York City. Wonderful!!! And the dessert chef should be commended for everything. On a scale of 1-10, the food was an 11. No joke. The beaches were beautiful and pools were relaxing. The people who worked there were so pleasant and fun. All the bartenders were great and really wanted you to have a good time. We did the tour around the island on a sunset cruise and a walk to the Devils Bridge. This resort was 5-star and the island has so much to offer. You should not listen to the negative comments on this resort. If you are looking for a nice resort with great food and good people, this is the resort for you. We had a wonderful time!!!!!

PBC was recommended by out travel agent in Ottawa and I am so happy we took the recommendation. This was our first plane trip as a couple in 5 years and we were so pleased it was Antigua and PBC. The island is beautiful, the people are welcoming and kind and PBC is a perfect destination. We stayed in a beach room, we were right on the beach and could see and hear the ocean. The beach is a perfect size and it just never got old. Honestly, I wished we could have stayed for 2 weeks instead of 1. The resort is tastefully laid out, you never feel crowded, the food is wonderful (best ever given trips to DR, Mexico, Barbados, etc). Just nothing to complain about. We will be back next year and beyond. Already missing it. Thanks PBC. You have a wonderful hotel and amazing staff.

We arrived to friendly faces and welcoming smiles. We were happy with our 2nd floor waterfront room with a beautiful view and ocean sounds. The ocean being about 10 yards away. The resort seemed to be at full occupancy as opposed to our last visit when Covid was just starting. Food and drinks were great, the Pineapple Grill, Heart of Pineapple and Italian restaurant were a step above. Cannot say enough about the staff! Also recommend once again Marbee for a great massage! My only complaint is having to get up super early to claim a shady spot on the beach. We spend our entire days on the beach and many people reserve and hardly sit in their chairs. Perhaps they need a few more ( and there are a lot) umbrellas. Great vacation overall thanks to staff and lots of friendly guests!

My husband and I along with our 26 yr old daughter were at The Pineapple Beach Club from February 26-March 05th 2023 and had a wonderful time! We definitely plan on going back at the end of February 2024 as we had such a fantastic time. The vibe was very laid back and peaceful and the staff were friendly and efficient! The best way I can describe the vibe is like being at someone's cottage on the beach with many games, activities and a laid back feel. Unfortunately they had some seaweed when we first arrived but they cleared it very quickly. My husband liked sailing on the hobbie cats and we liked the pool tournament, Bingo and Trivia that we participated in as well. My husband and daughter also fed the stingrays. The restaurants are good , definitely go to the Outhouse up the hill for good ribs, chicken, fish and beautiful views! We also like Name that Tune and Karaoke at night along with the DJ and singer they had for entertainment. It was fun getting up and dancing with all age groups! The people we met from the U.K,the States as well as fellow Canadians were top notch. The best thing is that it was a classy crowd and no one had music playing loud at the pool which was a welcome relief after the holidays we have had in Mexico where 100's are blasting all different types of music near you! See you end of February 2024 Pineapple Beach Club, can't wait to go back for 10x days next time as 7x days seemed too short especially travelling from Calgary!

The staff is amazingly friendly and attentive. Always a smile and a thank you. Made for a delightful vacation. Make sure to go to the manager's party and meet all the people who run the resort and then you will see them around all week, Very accessible. We stayed up on the hill on the second floor. Room could use a bit of updating, but very clean. Had a light breeze all week and never used ac, although changing ac temp is a challenge. Outstanding view! Lovely beach. Encountered some seaweed, not enough to keep us out of the water. Food was quite good, many options at each meal. Make sure to go up to the Outhouse - unique & rustic with good food, lunch or dinner.

My friend Jill C (see below) has pretty much said it all but I just wanted to thank everyone at the resort for their enthusiasm and genuine care which made our holiday such a pleasure. We joined in a number of games which was fun! The food and drinks were good and generous. The seaweed problem wasn't something the resort could be blamed for but they tried their best to clear it and it gradually subsided. Also the tax is government imposed so not something the resort can do much about. The island suffered greatly during Covid and I'm happy if this helps them out. As Jill said, you need cash if you venture out on 3rd party trips. The hotel ran out a few times and my cards failed at the cash machine at Nelson's Dockyard which was a bit stressful. I'd be very Happy to return!
