Just returned from 5 day break to The Rutland, Isle of Man and I would say this is one of the best hotels with National Holidays we have stayed at. The hotel was clean, food was good and the staff were very professional, polite and helpful. We had a sea view on the first floor. There was entertainment on 1 evening a male singer and guitarist and on another evening a country and western female singer and guitarist who were both very good. The driver took us to see the Laxey wheel plus the north and south of the island. On the Thursday we arranged a trip ourselves on the steam train which was worthwhile. The people who were on our coach trip were excellent company and all in all a memorable holiday. The only problem we had was that the mattress on the bed sloped downwards on each side of the bed. This trip was full of surprises. The driver was fantastic, the hotel really clean and the company extremely pleasant. There were no negatives, and as I said we were agreeably surprised. The tour was reasonably priced also: so that was a bonus. This trip enabled me to see my brother who is resident on the I-O-M. I had not seen him for five years, and as it turned out was also the cheapest form of travel.

We stayed here during a short break with National Holidays and were allocated a sea view room. The room was cosy, double bed, bedside cabinet both sides with lamps, wardrobe, small chest of drawers, chair and table in bay window. TV and tea making facilities. There was an electric heater on tge wall. The room had a telephone, handy for ringing another room. Bathroom was spacious, toilet, wash basin and bath with shower over. Towels nice and white and soft, water lively and hot. Heated towel rail and toiletries. The room did look as if it had recently been refurbished, however, the window could do with replacing, very draughty. We were half board, no complaints about the food. Choice of cerials, yogurts fruit juices and the usual cooked English - self service. Dinner, starters - soup and cold shelf, choice of 3 mains then help yourself to veg. Choice of 3 desserts, all cold. There were another 3 coach trips staying but the dining was well organised. The hotel has a small bar, entertainment some nights. A nice walk along the sea front to the town, probably take about 15-30 mins. All in all we enjoyed our stay.

My brother and I are in our seventies but still love motorcycles so we booked a 5 day break with "Duke Travel" who placed us into this 3 star hotel for the classic TT races. What a great experience, the hotel was full with motor cycle fans from around the world.Instant friendship with a group of Aussies for the holiday. Our twin bedded room was spotlessly clean with all facilities except for a mini fridge. The bed was blissfully comfortable giving a good nights sleep every night. The rooms had been refurbished in the not too distant past. Obviously as with all Victorian Hotels all is not perfect. The hotel I suppose due to its location facing the sun all day with near vertical cliffs behind it does remain fairly warm without any heating or air conditioning. The other small problem is the 1 lift,it only takes 3 people at a time so plenty of exercise. Breakfast is an excellent buffet which is hard to fault, superb.Dinner on "bikers weeks" are a different matter but understandably a restricted sensible menu, very reasonably priced. The hotel had over 100 guests staying in it but only 5 of us used the dining room - I can eat a steak dinner every night for under £10.00 with no problem.Great quality freshly cooked. The hotel staff were fantastic, they understood bikers and the manager liked a bit of friendly banter with anyone. Finally the bar prices were very reasonable with a pint of strong lager costing way under a fiver. Would I stay here again - without a doubt yes.
