We had a weekend in Douglas earlier this month, travelling by ferry, and the Claremont was everything we could have hoped for and more. For starters, it's a lovely seafront location and could not be handier for the ferry, literally a five-minute walk. The room was very comfortable and well equipped and the lounge spacious with appealing, tasteful decor. We were treated to friendly, courteous and helpful service at all times, and what a bonus to find that breakfast was to order. None of the usual scraping an egg off a hot plate after it has been congealing for half-an-hour, you placed your order and it was served to you fresh from the kitchen. Well done, the Claremont, I wish others would do the same. Couldn't fault it - fantastic hotel.
Staying late June with Great Rail Journeys, who provided an excellent itinerary and tour manager, as always. The Claremont was first class. The reception staff were friendly and helpful, it's odd that they are placed out of view, so reception appears empty and deserted at most times, a little odd! There is large comfortable lounge area, with great views of Douglas Bay. The restaurant provided an excellent and varied breakfast, although the coffee could have been stronger! Evening meals were very good with reasonable choice, plenty of fish. Good wine list and good availability for wines by the glass. Slight limitation on times, especially over the week-end, they obviously wanted the group bookings out of the way for their al la carte clientele, although they weren't that busy with non residents. We were in room 316, which was very well equipped with a lovely bathroom with shower and bath and his and her sinks! All recently refurbished. The the best of views, but then we did not upgrade to a sea view. Overall, a lovely stay in a well located hotel, close to ferry port and on the magnificent front.…
We stayed here for 5 days from 6 July until 11 July. Words like, excellent staff, especially Malgorzata and Charlotte in the restaurant. They were both made for dealing with customers. Their exuberance was all to see. Truly splendid ambassadors for the Claremont. Other items, our room (206) had spectacular views to the front. Food was outstanding, maybe ac little more adventurous menu would put the icing on the cake. Would be stay here again, for sure we would Thanks for a very memorable visit to the Isle of Man
Travelled with Great Rail Holidays. Hotel spotless, good linen and towels. All staff I encountered very friendly but very professional and polite. Food exceptional and varied, excellent breakfast choices.
We stayed at this gem of a hotel for 3 nights. We can't praise it highly enough. From the lady in reception to all the staff. The food was excellent both at breakfast and dinner the restaurant staff were efficient and friendly. Our room was very comfortable. We are already planning a return trip.
It's in a brilliant location on the front and is clean and tidy with excellent service from the staff, good breakfast. Our only trouble is the hotel is too hot, even when it's cool outside, we did get moved to a room on the front with amazing views but it made the stay uncomfortable
Delighted - we stayed for over a week, two couples in two front rooms and couldn't have had better accommodation and service. Thank you to all the Claremont staff. Most of the front rooms have been upgraded in the last few years, Queen sized bed, walk-in shower, cosy seats looking out on the 150deg view of Douglas Bay, all the usual tea/coffee making facilities, etc. including a safe. The rooms were VERY clean, staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Great public/dining areas; food choice good and lovely quality. The Afternoon Tea, wow!! It's only a 5 min walk to the Sea Terminal, main shopping area 2 mins away. Busses run from outside the hotel directly to the North and South (inc. airport) of the island. Parking is only 2 hours outside 8am to 6pm, and it IS patrolled. However by parking after 4pm, etc. it's reasonably convenient. An exceptionally good place to stay.…
Really excellent 4-star hotel with great food and great staff who could not have been more helpful. I had a room at the back which didn't have a view (sea view rooms available if you want to upgrade) but was of a good size for one, a great comfortable bed and a nice bathroom with one of the best hotel showers I have experienced.
If you are looking for a nice, clean, quiet four star hotel on the Isle of Man - Douglas Bay Promenade, with lovely staff for who nothing is too much trouble then look no further than the Claremont. We booked a week with Great Rail Journeys who used the Claremont hotel as their base for the Vintage Railways of the Isle of Man. The sea view rooms were spacious with comfortable chairs in the bay window over looking the Loch Promenade. The bathroom was large and spacious with walk in shower as well as a bath. Plenty of towels, robes and slippers were provided. All the other amenities you would expect were there, fridge, kettle, coffee maker, hairdryer, iron, fridge - everything you want. The restaurant was open to public with an extensive à la carte menu. The excellent meals for the Great Rail Tour Guests were from a special menu arranged by Great Rail. Breakfasts were as you would expect continental, European, cooked - everything. I would give special praise to the receptionist Veni who organised my extra wedding anniversary requirements which were perfect. Sincerely and in good faith TMR&TPR May 2022…
We very much enjoyed our stay at the Claremont Hotel. The room was spacious and had a superb view over the bay. It had all the normal facilities and was well fitted out and appeared newly decorated. The food was superb and there was an excellent á la carte menu which was served by a friendly and attentive waiting staff. All the management staff were very helpful and friendly. Overall a memorable experience
