The hotel is very nice, however our room was a little bit small and the view was not really good at all. There are a lot of stairs in the hotel and difficult if problems with walking. Having said that the staff are really good, notably the braekfast staff and the housekeeping staff. Real nice breakfast

Stayed in a Seaview room on the first floor which was spacious, clean and comfortable. We had dinner twice in the restaurant and enjoyed the food and attentive service. We also enjoyed food in the piano bar and the downstairs Grill. A special mention must go to the bar staff who made us feel very welcome and remembered the drinks... More

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, the staff at the Empress were incredibly friendly, efficient and helpful. We had a lovely, spacious and well-equpped room on the 4th floor with a great view of the Prom and the sea. Everthing was spotlessly clean, breakfast was excellent and my only regret is that we weren't able to... More

I again stayed at this long standing favourite Manx hotel. Complete with an indoor pool and quiet, the hotel service remains to a high standard with a warm and comfortable bar area serving good food being maintained to a very high standard. The bedrooms are comfortable and well cared for. Post recession good accommodation at a reasonable rate is difficult to... More

We wanted a traditional Sunday lunch and decided to give the Empress a try. We were not disappointed. They offer a set menu, with about 5 choices of Starter, main course and dessert, the price of the 3 courses was £17.50 which included coffee and we thought this was very reasonable, given the very good meal we had, excellent service... We really enjoyed our recent stay at this hotel. It was a very relaxing stay, with very friendly staff, comfortable room and worth paying extra to have a sea view room. The breakfast was excellent and filled us for the rest of the day. We usually ate in the hotel at night once in the brasserie and several times in the piano... More

This hotel is one of the nicest on the promenade. The glass entrance and stairway lead up to a quite grand Art Deco style reception which incorporates the Piano Bar and Brasserie. The food here is lovely and evening meals are more than adequate for the price. For convenience, we chose to go half board which meant that you could... More

Can't really fault his place, rooms are great (although we paid the extra for Seaview room worth every penny), breakfast awesome, location perfect and the staff, although not the happiest (and why should they be?) are very competent, polite and professional. Will use again and definitely recommend.

This is generally a nice hotel with a restaurant that serves good food with very efficient and accommodating staff. There is one thing that lets this property down-noise. The walls between the rooms seem incredibly thin. My neighbours were talking in a normal voice but you could here them clearly.

We stayed at The Empress for a week and celebrated our Ruby Wedding Anniversary during that time. From the moment we entered the staff couldn't have been more welcoming! Our seaview room was lovely with an amazing 42 inch TV. It was clean and serviced beautifully. Breakfast was good - items constantly being freshly cooked, and the kippers were delicious!... More
