The last time I stayed here was august 1964.saw the rolling stones. My first holiday flight. Not as mobile now so my review is for the benefit of anybody who has mobility or disablement issues as few reviewers give any relevancy to what is essential information to us.Firstly, you notice the access is via a glazed staircase to the entrance on the first... The Empress hotel is great value for money but does not feel cheap or down market in any way at all. The rooms are clean and the staff are very friendly. There's always a friendly face in the bar and they do a great breakfast too.

Not bad at all. Clean rooms with decent facilities. Nice bar area with a pretty good selection of beers/spirits etc. Snacks in the bar reasonably priced and tasty. Booking arrangements in Brasserie perhaps need a little thought. At 7.00 pm advised there was no table until 8.00 at the earliest. So we decided to eat in the Piano Bar. But... More

Stayed with a friend in a twin room overlooking the seafront. On arrival had to ring bell twice to get the attention of the female receptionist on duty. There was already someone waiting ahead of me, who had been there for 5 mins. The room was pleasant, a bit dated and the floor was on a bit of a slope,... More

I booked a sea view Executive Suite room and was pleased with the size and view overlooking the promenade. Some building work going on in the adjacent property but it didn't disturb me too much. The thing I noticed most about the hotel is that there are steps everywhere - not good if you have heavy luggage! There are lifts... More

As a group (usually eight or so) we have regularly stayed at The Empress for long annual weekend visits over more than ten years. We always pre book in advance to ensure our reservations, as the hotel has been know to take block bookings which restrict availability of short notice rooms. Well located on the sea front, 10 minutes or... More

We lived in the Isle of Man for 24 years and, having left nine months ago, came back for the first time to visit relatives. Also, I worked with a UK rail holiday operator for several years, which involved tours on the IOM, so do know several hotels well on the island. However, this was the first time I had... More

Stayed in The Sandringham Suite which offered generous space but was dull and bland and in need of new carpets. Bedroom overlooked the back of the hotel and, with no air conditioning, when window was opened there was a lot of noise from some sort of plant? / kitchen air con? Living room sparsely but adequately furnished including very useful... More

I have no dislikes of this hotel and found the staff helpful and polite. From many visits to hotels around the world I found this stay as good as any I have visited! The location is so handy from town centre and buses.
