My husband and I booked a two night stay with our dog. A very friendly and warm welcome from the owners Ian and Sonya and their staff . Our room was very clean and comfortable. The traditional pub area was very cozy and comfortable. We ate in the bar both nights . There was an extremely good choice of freshly... More

Stayed for a family event in the area. The room was very clean and comfortable, the views were lovely and the breakfast was delicious and huge. We were made to feel extremely welcome and I would recommend this venue to anyone.

I stayed here for two nights while visiting friends. And a more friendlier place I couldn't have found. My room was clean and very comfortable. My friends and I ate here on the first night and the food was delicious, plentiful and a very good price. And not just the normal 'pub grub'. The next morning, a Saturday, it was... More

We stayed one night on Bank Holiday Monday to break up a journey from the north East back down south, and decided to take in a visit to High Force Waterfall. This was the only B&B for a reasonable price near the area I could find. The outside does not do the pub justice, and my family were concerned what... More

Stopped off for an overnight stay enroute to Newcastle. Very welcoming and very friendly. Room comfortable. Food fantastic. Sonia and her staff get 10/10 from us. Highly recommend. Would certainly come back 😊

15 minutes from the city of Durham so perfect for a drive up from south England and ready the next morning to tackle Durham Cathedral and castle - except the latter was shut - again! This place was clean and comfortable, few frills but it was a decent price for that and the lady who seemed to be running it... More

4 of us enjoyed a 6 night stay at this great little pub. It is ideally situated between Durham city and the Dales. Yes, the outside could do with a bit of sprucing up but inside it is great. We were welcomed warmly by Sonia and she and all her staff gave us excellent and friendly service all the time... More

I popped in to the Royal Oak after a long walk in the nature reserve opposite the pub with an appetite big enough to see off a not only a horse but a small French jockey. I had picked the right place ! On entering I was met by a cosy interior of olde worlde charm, an eclectic mixture of... More

Stopped over for one night. Couple who own the hotel really friendly. My daughter son in law and ta daughter stayed in one room which unfortunately was a bit on the noisy side. Mine was lovely. Bed extremely comfortable. Food delicious.

We stopped off for 1 night at this hotel and were delighted with our stay. Our room was spotlessly clean and we enjoyed a good breakfast. Such a treat to find such a lovely hotel where our German Shepherd was warmly welcomed. Don't be put off by the outside, head indoors where we found the locals were very friendly and... More
