We stayed here in July as a family just for the night as we headed up to northumbria and it was absolutely worth every penny. The hotel itself is gorgeous, everywhere you look, steeped in history with its original tiles and marble staircase. It really felt luxurious and grand. The room was huge, clean, modern and the bed was divine, unfortunately our toddler had other ideas in mind and we barely slept a wink so the bed I couldn't rate for sleep, little bugger. The location is great, literally a few minutes from town. All in all, ill be sending friends and family and I wouldn't hesitate going back.

Great location in the centre of Durham, really nice hotel, lovely rooms, nice staff, however sadly let down by the quality of the breakfasts. Cheap ingredients & poor/basic selection. The hotel advertises that it has a Marco Pierre White restaurant, however this is nothing to go by in my opinion. If we stayed again, we would eat somewhere else for breakfast.

Visiting Durham for the second time we chose Hotel Indigo having passed it during our first visit and it looked interesting and in a great location. We were not disappointed, the reception was speedy and informative, the hotel itself is a fantastic conversion of a historic building having maintained some stunning architectural features and utilised them in an innovative manner and our room was fabulous, clean, tastefully decorated and comfortable We enjoyed a drink in the main bar and breakfast and everything was excellent including the friendly relaxed staff in both the bar and restaurant We will definitely be back to Indigo, a real find in Durham

We enjoyed the Indigo. Lovely, tiled charm in the public areas, a hark back to its former council, and latterly, university history. Perhaps a bit more acknowledgment of this could’ve been on display. Great access to Durham. Breakfast were good. Veggie for me every time!

+1
This hotel, which used to be a university building, is right in the centre of Durham (which is very compact). Decor is beautiful and full of character from the quirky but tastefully styled rooms to the historic corridors. Our room offered a beautiful bathroom with quality toiletries and wonderfully ecclectic room decor. Drinks in the room included nice touches like biscuits. The bed was a good size and comfortable. Service was impeccable. Reception was friendly, professional and very attentive. The Marco Pierre White Grill is onsite but we chose to eat out. There is limited metred parking in front of the hotel. Fabulous hotel, would not hesitate to return.
