We recently stayed at the DofE over the New Year weekend and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the accommodation. I have known this hotel for at least 35 years and, at one point used to spend considerable time in there as I knew the daughter of a previous owner. Since then it has improved beyond all recognition and...

My boyfriend booked this hotel as a christmas present and so we could enjoy New Years Eve. The hotel advises check in at 3pm which I did think was a bit late, but we were fine with going out and having some lunch down the road at Wetherspoons (which was really nice!) After this it was only 1.30ish so we...

We stay every christmas whilst visiting relatives. The Duke maintains its standard year on year. Lovely big room and bathroom all very clean. Very good freshly cooked breakfast which makes our visit all the more worthwhile.

There is hardly any amenities around the hotel, except for a Tesco Express right across the road. Rooms are clean and comfortable, though not big. Breakfast is reasonably good. It a bad place if all you need is a place to put up in the night.

Me and my partner stopped here on a Saturday night, we normally stop at the travelodge or premier Inn but thought we would have a change. The price was a bargain £60 for the night including breakfast for us both. The breakfast was absolutely beautiful, I had a full English and my partner scrambled eggs on toast and it was...

Although the hotel and room was lovely I felt that the staff resembled robots never smiled or made to feel welcome, we tried to book a table on both nights to no avail just told bluntly they are fully booked , then said they could squeeze us in but be down in 20 mins and we could eat in the...

I went here with big group of people from work for our Christmas party. We were sat downstairs. The food was really nice an everyone sound around me said the same. Got served quickly at the bar and the staff were friendly. There was DJ on so we were all up dancing. I'd definitely recommend the party night.

I got a deal and only paid £75 for the night. Normally prices seem much higher, which is why I haven't stayed before. Parking does not seem to be nearby. I arrived very late, so parked on a nearby street. The room was reasonably well appointed but bloody freezing. There was an electric radiator, but someone could have come and...
