Stayed here on a Sunday night and paid about a third of the usual price (£55 instead of £150 ish). Lovely hotel, lovely room. The restaurant stops serving food at 9pm on a Sunday night (don't know about other nights) so I just had a drink in the bar. Bar service was good. I would struggle to stay here at... More

From the outside this hotel looks a bit dated and tired. However once inside you are greeted with a tastefully decorated modern hotel which is appointed nicely. The rooms are bright clean and well decorated and have everything in them which you would expect. We stayed for one night and ate in the restaurant. The food was a bit disappointing... More

We recently travelled to Barrow for our friend's wedding and stayed in the Duke of Edinburgh as it was a recommended place to stay. We called in on the off chance we could check in between the ceremony and reception and were very pleased to find our room was ready. We were in a hurry to get to the reception... More

This has to be one of my favourite hotels to stay in, in the UK and I would visit again in a heart beat. Absolutely stunning hotel from the moment you walked in and the room was so spacious, clean, well kitted out for the price you pay. Lovely high ceilings, big bed the most stunning bathroom I've ever seen... More

Grand Old Dame look to the exterior. Bedroom large and nicely decorated and coordinated. Bed nicely medium sprung. Bathroom very smart with fabulously large shower. The only negative is an understaffed Bistro. We waited 20 mins for menus and over an hour for the food. The Italian style pizzas were, however, really good with a great base and generous toppings.... Sipoges stayed at the The Duke whilst attending a wedding at the Abbey House Hotel in Barrow. Oges booked the hotel through booking.com and was attracted to its cheap price, good location and breakfast included. We arrived about 4pm as we had stopped at Grange-Upon-Sands for a stunning picnic en route. We were feeling content and satisfied after the array... More

This hotel is stunning! We upgraded to the superior room for not much more and it was worth it! We had a meal in the hotel which was amazing and then had a few drinks in the bar after. The fruit cider on draught was amazing! Plus 2 for £10 cocktails in the vaults we're good! We would definitely stay... More

For my partners birthday I had booked tickets to visit South Lakes Safari Zoo and wanted to turn it into a weekend away. I searched for hotels near the zoo and took my time deciding which would be the best. I chose this hotel as it was relatively close to the zoo (around 10 minutes in the car) and was... More

Staff & hotel great. Parking free across the road. The room was large & bed massive & comfortable. Free wifi also. Food in bar was great & good atmosphere. Couple of niggles, no shower gel & if this was an error as we had 2 types of conditioner, it wasn't checked when room cleaned, nor was toilet roll. Also light... More

The Duke of Edinburgh is a hotel with real character. Wooden floors and staircases give way to comfortable rooms with modern amenities. My stay was very comfortable, the breakfasts were excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. There is a dedicated, free, off-street car park stituated just a few yards from the main route in to / out of Barrow,... More
