Came to visit Piel and ordered early lunch , menu was brilliant and didn't expect such a choice given this is a remote island only available at right tides. The fish n chips were freshly battered to order. The wrap menu was great loved the Halloumi wrap. The Scooby Snack burger was amazing!! The food was great quality and people... More

A day visit to Piel Island in great weather included a lengthy lunch at The Ship. Greeting was friendly, helpful and fun. A cool clean interior for more stormy days and good clean toilets. Outside tables with a view to die for.......boats at their moorings, ships passing by, a whopping great castle AND excellent simple food. We had the shrimps... More

Last Monday 1st Aug we decided to take our London visitors over to Piel Island for a lovely Lunch in the Pub. However when we arrived at the jetty a group of people were found wanting. There appeared to be No Ferry today! We rang the phone number on the board and left a message. Steve arrived on his motorbike... More

We spent a night in the Ship Inn for a well-earned break away from it all. So, what can I say? The room we stayed in (room 3) appeared to be recently refurbished, and done to a very high standard and the bed was sooo comfy and ensured a peaceful nights sleep. The little touches, such as a pebble-lined bathroom... More

I stayed at the Ship Inn on Piel Island for three nights over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend. Steve, Sheila and their daughters Nicola and Christina are lovely people and made me feel very welcome indeed. The Inn is a lovely old building that has been restored to a good level, with tasteful and appropriate decor. My room was spotlessly... More

This is a fantastic pub. It's the only watering hole on Peil Island. The pub serves great beer and food. The friendly staff are really helpful. The whole place has a really great vibe, relaxed and chilled out. The is a museum in the pub that tells the story of the island and has various historic bits and bobs, really... More

Great place to stay and chill out very good food and accommodation. Great staff and always a pleasure to be on the ferry from Roe island with John. Whether can vary from the forcast for Barrow in Furness but is usually better on the island

We have been over to Piel on a number of occasions with friends and this the first time sailing by ourselves....well done us!!!! On coming into the bay we rang the pub and they helped find us a mooring. The skipper of neighbouring yacht very kindlly offered us a lift ashore. Hospitality at the Ship Inn was as ever fantastic.... More

After a short ferry ride we were welcomed by the Ship Inn staff and shown to our very comfortable room. After a walk around the island we had a very nice supper of fish and chips/ scampi and chips. Very friendly hosts and nothing was too much trouble. We would recommend a trip to the island.
