We stayed at the Lisdoonie on business for just over 1 week having read the reviews on TripAdvisor. We had previously stayed at a large hotel chain when working in Barrow. Next time if we return it will be back at the Lisdoonie. As some say the hotel is a little dated but that is part of its character. What... More

Service is frequently a dirty word in the UK hotel industry not least because the notion that us Brits should service anyone anywhere at any time is an anathema to our collective sense of colonially infused superiority. So it makes for a real pleasant surprise when you come across a hotel for whom no awkward request is too demanding, no... More

Just spent 4 weeks travelling around UK and Ireland this was best value hotel we stayed in. Very friendly lady on reception, same person did the freshly cooked breakfasts next morning, older style furnishings but very clean. Pub across the road also on bus route to city centre.

Very friendly and accommodating staff. Good location near town centre but quiet. Clean comfy room. Tasty breakfast with good selection and across the road from a good football watching pub! Will stay here again when I return.

I was welcomed by a genuinely friendly young guy on reception and shown to a spacious, well equipped room at the back. No road noise and a comfortable bed. Breakfast had a good selection offering fresh fruit too. I had a bike and although the owner kindly said I could leave it in the hall, I locked it up safely... More

Set on the corner of a quiet street with plenty of parking available. It is a large Victorian house with tv lounge room and sitting area. The rooms are spacious and clean and the quality of sleep was good. The staff are helpful but were sometimes hard to find as they were usually running reception and dealing with breakfast or... We stayed in this hotel after our trip to the South Lakes Zoo. Lovely and clean and tidy room - everything was spick and span. The owners of the hotel were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. We didn't have a meal here so I can't comment on their meals but their breakfasts were lovely and... More

I stayed here for a long weekend in April, arriving on a Friday and checking out on a Monday. The room was very good value for money, particularly for a solo traveler. The breakfast was probably the best I've had in Barrow, with everything cooked to order and fresh. The staff I met were all very friendly, even when I... More

This Hotel is very good value for money, have paid a lot more for a lot less !! Dated decor (don't change it) but very very clean and comfortable. Tea and Coffee making facilities in the room were excellent (mugs were great). Stayed in Room 12 on the top floor at the front of the Hotel (stairs weren't a problem).... More
