    Enjoyable relaxing 2 night stay
Location: The Hotel is situated close to the centre of Bowness and is right on the Lake. It is in an ideal location and really enables you to experience all the amenities on offer. Hotel: The hotel is in a prime location and from the rear entrance has a large well kept garden area which you can walk around and use the pathway to gain quick access to the Lake. It is set slightly on a hill so has really good views over Lake Windermere. The hotel itself is well presented and has a nice relaxing feel to it. The reception area is a nice feature inside a glass structure which gives a good first impression on arrival at the hotel. There is free parking at the hotel for guests which is a positive benefit. Room: We stayed in room 81 which is a classic room. The room size itself is fine and there was a decent size bathroom. The water pressure in the room was amazing for both shower or bath and everything was individually sealed for covid purpose. The room bed was comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. Despite this I was disappointed in the room and facilities in the room. The room felt a little bland and not at as luxurious as i would have expected for the price of the room at over £300 per night. There was a very small TV in the room which has no extra channel services (only freeview) and a coffee machine. I understand the hotel has the ability to charge higher prices due to location and demand but I was expecting more from such an expensive room and was let down by the overall room experience. Service / Staff: We found the staff to be attentive, polite and helpful during our stay. Breakfast: The breakfast ran smoothly and is situated in the main dining area which is well decorated and airy. It has lovely views over the lake. There is a choice of buffet (cereals, yogurts, fruit, juice, pastries) and a one way system which was nice and normalised the hotel experience away from covid. There was a choice of hot breakfast options which were served at the table. The service was good and hot food was brought quickly after ordering. The food was well presented and tasty and felt freshly sourced and prepared. We never felt rushed and enjoyed the breakfast. Final thoughts: This is a really nice hotel in a well positioned location. We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel and only felt let down by the room considering the high cost paid. There are other hotels nearby which offer more for the same or cheaper prices and this is the only reason we have not awarded this hotel a 5* review. Would we consider it again? Maybe

    Phenomenal
I chose The Belsfield as the perfect location to ask my partner to marry me. I discussed this with the delightful reception team, who were amazing in their organisational skills and discretion on arrival! They organised seamlessly a bottle of Bollinger to be left in our room after our evening meal whilst we enjoyed our food, the successful delivery of which was relayed to me by a cheerful nod and wink from the knowing Maitre D. The food was simply sublime. Words do not do justice. The food was perfectly enhanced by the sumptuous dining area, with its stunning decoration and attention to detail. Every public room of the hotel was finished to an enviably high standard, complimented by stunning views of the Lake at the front, and immaculately manicured gardens to the rear. Simply stunning, and the perfect location for an engagement proposal. Topped off by the fact she said yes! That definitely helped
Dear WadderRN Thank you very much for leaving such a nice review. Congratulations on your engagement! I am really happy to read that we could take part in this very special day :) Perhaps I can tempt you in having your big day here at The Belsfield? Please check our website or contact our wedding team directly :) Kindest regards Bartosz Kowalski Deputy General Manager 01539442448

    Perfect Short Break
I’m struggling to understand under what circumstances someone could give this hotel less than 5 stars. We checked in at 4pm on a Sunday afternoon. We were greeted by a gent from the check in desk that opened doors for us and made us feel welcome. We asked about room upgrades and talked about room layouts as we have a 6 month old who would likely share a bed with us rather than a travel cot. He kindly checked which rooms had which sized beds and offered us one on the ground floor with a lake view and a super king bed. He then arranged for someone to show us the room before committing to make sure we liked it. A friendly chap then escorted us to the room which was huge. The ceilings must have been 18ft and there were windows on two walls with the lake and snowy mountain backdrops. We then went back to the desk to check in and were not charged extra for this room. Bare in mind most reviews say £30/£40 a night extra for the better rooms, it probably depends on how busy they are and time of year. We opted for a cot and by the time we arrived at our room, barely a minute walk, two porters had arrived with the cot and were setting it up. Still now I’m unsure how they physically mobilised so quickly! The room had everything we needed. Flat screen TV, traditional tea/coffee facilities as well as a machine with pods. The most powerful taps/showers you’ve ever seen in a taste fully decorated bathroom with plenty of amenities. We couldn’t recommend this enough! We booked through Secret Luxury and got a 3 course meal the first night in the Brasserie. The food was of a high standard. We had Pork Belly/Tortellini starters, Chicken & Dauphinois mains and Stick Toffee Pudding desserts. We loved all 3 courses! Breakfast the first morning was buffet style in the main restaurant. The coffee is very good and the food varied in selection and cooked well. We really looked forward to breakfast the second morning. If you have a pram or wheelchair, you’ll need to use the main entrance to go down to the lake. We did go through reception and in to the gardens to get down to the lake but there are steps which we managed but didn’t take that route again. It’s worth a look as there are tame rabbits and unrivalled views. There are a number of other restaurants within 5 mins walk of the hotel if you need to eat out, check trip advisor for reviews. We will stay here again and will highly recommend. We didn’t take names of staff but everyone from the desk to the waiting staff were unbelievably friendly.
Dear 19Adrian87 Thank you very much for such a fantastic review! We are all thrilled to read that all aspects of your stay; bedroom, location, decor and staff were to your satisfaction and more! I have passed your kind words to all our teams and I look forward to welcoming you back very soon. Best regards Bartosz Kowalski Deputy General Manager

We got married at the Belsfield Hotel on the 24th of august this year. We cancelled our big wedding else where and booked the elopement package instead. And what a dream come true this wedding was. Everyone was simply perfect. It was myself, my husband & 8 guests and we all had the most wonderful day from start to finish. From booking our wedding back in March with Tracey, there was never a no answer. Our guests picked what they wanted to eat, all the food was DELICIOUS. Especially the fillet steak & sticky toffee pudding! I don’t drink and alcohol free options were available for me. Everything was flawless. Having worked as an event coordinator myself for years I’ve never known an establishment to be so accommodating. James & I would like to thank Tracey & Kellie for looking after us all day. All of the staff who helped with the running of our day especially Nick & Mitch. I’d recommend the belsifeld to anyone - big or small wedding the grounds are so so beautiful and the best photo opportunities. Wedding day of my dreams. We can’t wait to come back for our one year anniversary 💘 Mr & Mrs Craven xxx

Wonderful afternoon tea. They also have an option for plant based afternoon tea which I think is great. If you are going, ask for a table with a view of the lake as the view is outstanding. Great service and very attentive and special thanks to Driss for being a great server.

The rooms were excellent, spacious and we had amazing views, they had all the nice extras like bottles of water, well stocked team and coffee. The staff couldn't be better, everyone was really really helpful. The common areas were lovely. The location is superb. Breakfast was good, but dinner was really poor (I asked for olive oil but they had none - only rapeseed, mostly it was pretty tasteless pre-prepared food), which was a shame as friends had been previously and the food had been excellent. We went to Porto down the road for the 2nd night's dinner and that was excellent.

Our friends privatised the whole hotel for their wedding. Beautiful hotel and grounds with stunning views over Lake Windermere. The main dining room was very opulent, high ceilings, plush seating and chandeliers, looking out over the lake. The food was great & the staff very attentive and friendly. We didn’t spend much time in the room but it was comfortable and clean. The village of Bowness is really sweet with plenty pubs and restaurants. We will be back for a weekend break.

We have beeb here as a couple several times and each visit continues to reinforce our view that this is one of the best. We booked celebrating 1951 and 1973 respectively. The former being my darling wife's and my birth year (September) . The latter being the year we got married (50 years ago) The Manager Jake McHugh made a point of welcoming us to the hotel and allocated a lake view room that was beyond our dreams. A fabulous room with huge bed , roll top bath and separate shower, a bottle of Prosecco added to the total ambience of the experience. Access and parking so easy and so close to Bowness amenities. After check in we sat I the wondrous gardens overlooking the lake and the coming and going of the lakeside ferries. Dinner was outstanding and the staff so accommodating, they made us feel special. We had dinner which was outstanding. At breakfast which was a great full English, Jake welcomed us warmly and he and his happy band of servers made us very comfortable and welcome It was a first class experience and one that we will do again Thanks to Jake and all staff who made us feel very special on our special day

First impressions of this hotel as you walk into the now modern entrance are wow! I didnt even see the reception desks at first because the view through the open doors down to the lake is breathtaking. This hotel is easily the best located in Windermere. Right smack bang in the middle. There is a quite steep windy path down to the promenade. A horse box selling beers and wines is located half way down on the lawn. The gardens are immaculate. We were on our honeymoon so we were early but the very nice lady on reception got the car booked in and said come back in a couple of hours and the room will be ready. We went exploring and came back and the room was ready. Room was on the small side but more than good enough with a large comfy bed and very nice bathroom. We had booked the classic double. This hotel is very warm, we did go during the September heatwave though. The Aircon didn't t work but as soon as I reported it there was a fan brought to the room and then 10 mins later maintenance turned up and sorted it. All the staff were superb, they were really understaffed but got on with it. We had no issues with waiting for drinks or food. The breakfast selection was very good. Please ignore the negative reviews, you have serial moaners in every walk of life and you can spot them a mile off. There were a few at this hotel. The staff are not your personal slaves! We will definitely be coming back again!

The hotel is ok but looking a little shabby, when we got to our room the bathroom door would not close, we reported this immediately and we’re told maintenance would fix it, up to us leaving it had not been done. The evening meal was good, hot and served well, breakfast was good. We ordered a platter for lunch which part of it was terrible, it was the pork. The outside terrace seemed to be a problem for the staff as they did not know who to deliver staff too. The staff are pleasant and helpful, just the hotel is lacking its luster. Central for everything and free car park, would we stay there again, no not until it has its sparkle back.

Booked last minute to escape the city for a few days. Beautiful location overlooking lake Windermere. Friendly staff, clean and comfortable hotel. Enjoyed a great dinner on the first night, good food and service. Spent a sunny afternoon enjoying drinks on the lawn taking in the lake views. Just 90 minutes drive from Manchester, we'll be back!

My husband and I got married last month at The Belsfield, and the wedding was perfect. In the run up to the wedding, Victoria, Tracey and Kellie were very responsive and attentive, and helped with all of the numerous queries that we had. They were so organised with setting everything up and the wedding ran absolutely seamlessly. We loved the fact that the wedding package was flexible, so we were able to adjust the numbers of guests and which suppliers were included as part of the package. On the morning of the wedding, the team came up to see us every hour whilst we were getting ready, to check we had everything we needed. The setting was beautiful, and the food was delicious - several of the wedding guests said it was the best wedding food that they had tasted. Special shout-out to the bartender Jake who helped to keep our drinks topped up! Thank you again to the fantastic team at The Belsfield - we could not recommend them more highly.
