We stayed at this hotel just before second lockdown. So glad we managed to get it in. We got a good deal on Secret Escapes for 2 nights dinner, bed and breakfast. Room on arrival didn’t have a brilliant view although decor and bathroom were lovely, so we upgraded to a lake view room on the second night which was well worth it. The only issue was that we had to be out of our first room and checked out by 11am and then had to check back in later for our upgraded room?? Food was amazing, breakfast very hearty. Usual table with fruit/ yoghurts/ croissants etc (all individual pots to comply with Covid and single wrapped croissants). Hot breakfast was ordered and brought to your table along with coffee and toast. Evening meal was 3 courses, same menu for our 2 nights but had something different each night and was not disappointed. Wine is a bit pricey but you expect that. We had room service on 2nd night as there was a small wedding in the hotel so we just decided it may be slightly crowded in the restaurant and stayed in our room. No charge for room service either that time or for breakfast the next day. Breakfast overlooking the lake, beautiful. Staff were amazing, very friendly and all doing their bit to ensure compliance with COVID restrictions. All communal rooms decorated in Laura Ashley and very nicely laid out. Our upgrade room number 34 looked like it had recently had the bathroom refurbed, very smart. All in all, a very relaxing, lovely break. Couldn’t fault anything. Will definitely be going back.

Hotel's Favorite
The hotel had made all the arrangements for a champagne reception, a welcome card and lunch. The imposing building is warmly decorated and very well spaced with several lounge and dining areas. The staff were very helpful, courteous but well prepared with Covid 19 prevention equipment. The lunch was served in the main dining room which also had lake views. The menu had good choice for all dietary requirements. The dishes were well presented, service was very pleasant and excellent without delay. A good range of wines which were reasonably priced for a change - a joy - and well suited to the taste, textures and flavours in the dishes. A huge car park was a bonus. We had planned to have lunch a well known pub with reputation for beers and whiskies but the cost in a dark and dingy space with the prices matching Belsfield, it was no contest. So pleased to have chosen Belsfield.

Can't really comment on the service as we didn't stop for breakfast and only had one drink in the bar but check in was good. The hotel itself is absolutely stunning and has a real wow. Room really nice with all the amenities you could need and wonderful location with lake views and just a short walk to the shops and restaurants.

Communal areas/grounds facing lake: pleasant. But good decor not enough. Room at best average: clean (well, mould marks on bathroom ceiling) & just functional, not one to relax in. Roman blinds dropped down on outside of window frame, not within, so outside lights bled into the room . . . never got dark! Sound insulation non-existent: could easily hear upstairs (2nd floor) crossing floorboards but plumbing worse. Could hear the toilet above our heads being flushed through the night/refilling, and their taps turning on/off. In lounge area fancied light bite: given menu 6.30pm & order would be taken shortly. No luck by 7; popped out to see if anyone would take order: told someone would come to us; did, eventually, at 8pm: couple of starters with some desserts to follow. Just before 9, cancelled order & went out to Bowness to eat. Hoped hotel would be a nice change: won't be back. Had looked at coming last September when pricing could only mean the mug money was going: glad we didn't pay those extortionate prices; what we did pay for experience was poor value: if I go to a 4-star hotel I expect to get a good night's sleep. Superior options available elsewhere. Hotel is overpriced for poor rooms & shoddy service (breakfast service was fine . . . but we were 1 of 3 tables at the time so not really a challenge). Sure Bartosz will be along to assure these comments will be passed to relevant departments as per previous reviews but, clearly, the relevant departments don't give a crap.

Arrived here for a long weekend stay on the 30th October. First impressions the hotel is beautiful & is clean. Unfortunately it is let down severely by its staff & service. Staff are friendly however inattentive, slow and unorganised. We had breakfast in the restaurant in the morning, asked for mixed toast, white toast turned up, the table next to us then received their mixed toast but had requested white so was clearly a mix up. Asked for breakfast minus a few things. It turned up with everything on it so we sent it back & the second time it came out it was still wrong, but after waiting half an hour we just ate and left. The waiters were turning up to tables with food that the tables hasn’t ordered or had already received food, wondering around confused bringing food out then taking it back into the kitchens, absolute unorganised mess. We decided to order the second time to to room and filled out the form with exactly what we wanted again as we thought at least it cant go wrong. To our little surprise, turned up wrong, no beans and bacon on mine again. The bar service was just as bad, table service but no one comes to your table & when you ask someone we just got ‘be with you in a minute’ to be served 10 minutes later. We decided to cancel our evening reservation based on what we had seen & ventured out to drink & eat elsewhere as a drink an hour in the bar wasn’t acceptable. The price we paid for the weekend just was not worth it, which is a shame because the location and hotel itself is lovely. They desperately need to sort their management and staff out, especially in their kitchen and especially with lockdown looming. Lost out on a lot of money by not serving drinks more often & missed out on dinner reservations. Massive shame.

Dear Guest Thank you for your email. I am pleased that you liked the hotel and I am sorry to read that your breakfast and bar experience was not up to scratch. I have to say it must have been most unfortunate situation as when you look up and down our other reviews the feedback we get is very good... Nevertheless thank you for your comments - I will pass these to my F&B manager to address as necessary. Kind regards Bartosz Kowalski Deputy General Manager
