Spent a couple of nights at the Borough arms whilst visiting family. Great location very close to the centre of Newcastle. Although an old building it had history and this added to the interest as well as the layout was different to the modern hotels. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the food good and the staff friendly and helpful.... More

My first impressions of the staff and location was excellent service. Despite the fact I arrived at Heathrow airport with no taxi booking I called the hotel and the receptionist did her utmost to arrange it for me last minute greatly appreciated. All the staff were very friendly and provided such a homely experience. My sincere thanks to Mr Sheikh... More

Ive been here a few times now for a party dinner so I decided bring my mum and dad and ten other guests to celebrate their special anniversry. The hotel was great. We together created a three course dinner menu which suited our guests at a very reasonable price. They helped us to dress the tables with balloons, put a... More

We held our wedding ceremony and reception in August 2016. The hotel manager and event co-ordinator were extremely helpful arranging everything and on hand if we had any problems, which we didn't. As a wedding venue we would highly recommend the hotel to anyone looking to hold their wedding and reception at the same venue. The park across the road... More

A group of approximately 20 people from SLIMBS, the local lymphoedema support group, met here for lunch. The restaurant was well laid out with ample room to mingle. The food was excellent as were the staff. Meals were served efficiently which meant that some people weren't finished while others were still waiting to be served. There was a good choice... More

We had the ceremony & reception here & stayed 2 nights in the bridal suite....whilst some rooms could benefit from a little TLC (The Annex was damp) I have to say that Mr Sheikh the manager/Emma Jordan events co-ordinator & indeed all concerned were absolutely amazing from the initial enquiry in 2014 right through to when we left, nothing was... Haven't been for a while - called in after hearing about the refurbish. Good location just a few minutes walk from the centre of Newcastle town centre. Choice of beers, larger and wines. There is Ostlers restaurant. Gladstone Bar and a venue to hold celebrations etc. There is accommodation to be had and if you need an overnight stay because... More

Smelly rooms, not cleaned properly. Very poor decor. Poor shower. Restaurant not open on a Sunday night before Bank holiday Monday. One of the waiting staff at breakfast was very forgetful. Had to ask for extra tea at breakfast. Kept awake on Saturday until midnight by the wedding party which we were not warned about. Woken up at 6.45 by... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Borough Arms Hotel and Restaurant is one of the oldest established hotels in the Newcastle-under-Lyme and Stoke-on-Trent areas, with history dating back to 1783. The hotel is very much of the style associated with a traditional English town centre coaching inn, yet has been sensitively and subtly refined to offer the comfort and modern standards demanded by today's visitors. Independently owned and managed, the hotel retains many period features and takes great pride in offering a very personal service. As a valued guest, you may be confident that we will do our utmost to ensure your comfort, whether you are staying in one of our 40 centrally heated, en-suite rooms, visiting us for a meal in the restaurant, or using our conference and banqueting facilities. ... more   less
