Four adults, one toddler and one Hound ate here at the beginning of July. The food was very good, the service excellent and the Hound was made welcome. We asked for a discount on account of having our very own Hound but was told we'd need to bring the Fox as well. Am a bit surprised to read some bad... More

I have just stayed here for the second time while visiting from Australia and on both occasions the hospitality and warmth of welcome has been outstanding. The three bedrooms - yes I have stayed in all three - are all en-suite and very comfortable. The food is excellent - breakfast, lunch and dinner. Scrambled eggs or fresh kippers make for... More

I was picked up in the middle of nowhere and taken to the Fox and Hounds by the proprietor. I've passed the pub on several occasions over many years, but never stayed there. It's an old building, with dated decor and furniture, which could do with some refurbishment. However, the friendly welcome outweighs any shortcomings. My room had a huge... More

Walking in the area and stumbled upon this gem. Lovely location, nice decor, friendly staff and great soup and sandwiches. Well worth a visit. Would recommend the pulled beef sandwich and the chunky chips.

Stopped here as we were passing through. Nice friendly welcome on arrival, good range of ales, wine selection not so good. Hadn't intended to eat when we stopped but after the excellent dinner very glad we did.

Visited on Saturday evening without booking on the off chance we would get fed. Lady behind the bar said no. At first I thought she was joking, then realised not. They had a big party in, so couldn't serve us. Fair enough, but all she needed to say was sorry we're busy, we're full, or, it might be late ~a... More

Called here on Sunday after an 8 mile walk with 2 children 6 adults, only to be told as we entered the door "we've stopped serving food if that's what you wanted" no friendly greeting or welcoming smile from that lady!!! She didn't even ask what we wanted or offer us drinks only. A very rude attitude wouldn't go here... More

Called here with friends each one of us had a lovely meal, service was very good. The seating could do with refurbishing, we had to sit on cushions but not a huge problem. Very inviting, old country pub.

My sister and I visited the Fox and Hounds today again for lunch after one of our favourite walks, with our 5 children in tow. Once again the service was excellent and food delicious, home made and freshly prepared. There was only one lady serving but she managed to keep everyone happy and nothing was too much trouble. Our Grandma... More

Well worth the visit..the décor is a little tired but then that's what gives this place its character.. the staff are absolutely superb, nothing is a problem.. they oblige everytime faultlessly Brilliant!! A Little niggle though .. the land lady Nichola doesn't live on site so the noise level is tremendous - laughing and shouting from the bar until 1am... More
