Lovely birthday break.Staff couldn’t do more, from reception staff, bar staff and restaurant staff all working hard to make sure you have a good stay. My husband and daughter both had massages in the spa which they were very impressed with. Our grandchildren 3 years old and 8 months loved the pool. It was their first stay in a hotel and as my Grandaughter remarked”I don’t get breakfasts like this at home Mummy. Thank you Balmer lawn for a wonderful stay, we will be back

We got married on the 17th September and had an amazing day after several re arrangements due to Covid. Ruth was very calm and collected the entire time, and Simon and the team couldn’t do enough to help and support on the day. The day ran very smoothly and everything was perfect. We had 86 to the ceremony and got married outside which was brilliant. Would highly recommend. All of the guests commented on what a fantastic day and venue it was. They also said that the food was incredible. The rooms were great and everyone loved just walking upstairs at the end of the night.

We recently held our wedding at the Balmer Lawn and we had the most amazing day. Ruth has been brilliant, especially as we were on our third date due to rearranging twice due to covid. Everything ran smoothly and the staff couldn't do enough to help, including providing a separate gluten free plate of canapes for guests who needed it. We loved that the wedding party had a completely different area to the rest of the hotel guests, and the venue itself and the surroundings are beautiful. We would just like to say a massive thank you to them for making our day so special.

We had a fantastic wedding day at Balmer Lawn. The whole team, especially Ruth & Simon were very attentive and ensured the day went smoothly, without any fuss. The food was absolutely fantastic and many of our guests commented on how good it was, with varying dietary requirements all catered for. We really enjoyed breakfast the following morning with our guests who stayed overnight and the use of our own private dining room. Really couldn’t fault the venue or the team at all, just perfect!

My niece and her husband do be travelled from the US to choose this hotel and it was a fantastic choice. They were treated so well throughout. Nothing was too much trouble. All staff from reception, wedding staff Ruth & Lindsey, waiting staff - with a special mention to Simon and his wonderful team. The gin and Pima bars were marvellous. We dealt with Ruth from day 1- 14 months ago and we could not have been looked after better. All requests were catered for - including dietary and religious specifics - even unusual ones never requested before. Ruth either organised or signposted us in the right direction. The staff went above and beyond expectations even to delivering special items to every guest room ...and there were a lot of guests. Jade on reception sorting out a magnet for the MIB corsage to prevent a pin damaging the dress - exceptional care. She went above and beyond like everyone did. Food was perfect for everyone. Clearly marked and advised for allergy groups. Some guests were at the hotel were there 7 days and other 2 days - of the many guests there was not a single complaint and everyone was very happy with hotel. Our experience was so amazing that we are booked in to stay again in October and we are hoping for a chance to see all of the staff again. I was co-ordinating but be honest they made my jobs easy as they looked after everything. We just want to thank them all for a wonderful experience. It was a perfect wedding. Balmer lawn deserves all the praise we can give.

Dear P440NFmom What a truly fantastic review, this was one of our largest weddings this year and it is very pleasing to read your lovely comments. All the individual staff members will be delighted to read your views on the difference their individual contributions made to your overall enjoyment and that of all the guests, many of whom travelled from the USA. Thank you for taking the time and effort to review on this important travel forum and we very much look forward to welcoming you back again in October.

We had our wedding at Balmer Lawn in June 2022, with guests travelling from other countries to come and stay with us. Ruth is an absolutely fantastic Wedding coordinator and was a dream to work with. Along with her colleagues Lindsay and AJ, who are definitely the stars of the staff. Unfortunately, we had a number of elements go wrong at our wedding. One or two wrong elements would have gone by unnoticed, however sadly with the amount we paid, we were disappointed in the hotel. -One dietary restricted guest was left without a starter, this was down to a miscommunication but we were unaware until after the day. -Cake - we had requested to keep the top tier, however the instructions left were thrown out and the cake cut up. The hotel did arrange a replacement for us which we did appreciate. Security - eating food/cake provided for our guests - again, we paid to feed our guests, we are upset about this as we didn't even manage to get any appetisers/evening food ourselves. Both security guards also complained to both of us about the food we had selected, complaining that it didn't fit with their dietary requirements. - both security guards also had very interfering presence getting involved. It was incredibly uncomfortable. Evening food unlabelled - As we had specific dietary guests attending, we were advised that this would be done. As it wasn't, a number of guests went hungry. Others were unable to eat in the evening as the food had been cleared away. Canapes - we were advised that some of these would be put aside for us for when we were taken into a room after the ceremony. We were provided with a glass of champagne each but staff had forgotten to set aside any food. Breakfast - Saturday - Room service breakfast order was lost so we had to call downstairs to re-order in the morning. After calling for a second time, it arrived at the same time as theHair/Make up artist, which in turn set the day running late. Unfortunately for my Maid of Honour, who is vegetarian, the breakfast that was brought to us had meat mixed in with the cheese, so she was only able to eat very little. Sunday - One of the most upsetting aspects for us was that we were advised that we would have a separate room for breakfast so that everyone could be together. On arriving downstairs that morning, we were told that it had been given to another wedding party and there was nothing that they could do. This is upsetting as our families had travelled a very long way, spend a lot of money, to be there for that weekend, and this was our last chance to all be together. It very much made it seem that once our wedding was done, then all priority went into getting the next wedding party through the door. Music - Background music was not playing during the wedding breakfast, leaving the room very quiet. I had asked 3 times what was going on without an answer, Terry asked an additional two times. It eventually came on during the desserts. Guests removed from Beaulieu room - Guests were told they had to vacate the Beaulieu room so that staff could clear away and get ready for the wedding the following morning. We had paid for full use of the wing until midnight, but again were shuffled out of the way to make way for the next wedding. We understand that it has been a very busy wedding season, however due to the amount we ended up paying, and the number of issues that arose, we were left disheartened. We chose Balmer Lawn for its uniqueness and one wedding focus, but at the end we felt that is was a bit of a conveyer belt of weddings that weekend with more focus on getting them all done.

This hotel was amazing. We had our wedding here, with 90 guests and it was faultless. From the Friday night pre wedding party, to organising special breakfast arrangements for our guests, to the spectacular day itself - Ruth and the team went above and beyond to ensure it was perfect. I can’t recommend it enough - I have heard so many of our friends describe it as the best wedding ever and we couldn’t have wanted more. Thank you to a Ruth, the hotel reception crew and Philip who must be one of triplets as he was there every minute along the way making sure everything was perfect, and it was ❤️

We stopped here for a few days to help my husbands recuperation after serious illness. The positives first - the hotel is set in a beautiful peaceful location, check in was quick and easy. Our room on the third floor was spotlessly clean and welcoming with lovely views over the cricket ground, tea/coffee facilities and fluffy robes. All good. The public rooms are very elegant, especially the dining room, there is a stunning modern chandelier suspended from the full height of the central staircase, there is a lift also. On the first evening we ate in the main restaurant, to my delight scallops and skate was on the menu. Now we get to the negative aspect. On the second evening my husband was feeling unwell, he didn't want a full restaurant dinner and didn't want drive elsewhere. There was a secondary eating place at the front of the hotel serving drinks, pizzas etc, we were told they were serving drinks only. Spoke to a lady on reception who very kindly brought the lounge menu up to our room to look at, if was sandwiches and fries, just fine we thought. This was brought to our room after 6 pm, on going down to the lounge, we were told service stops at 6pm which came as somewhat of a surprise as we'd just had the menu delivered. Back upstairs we went, in each room there is a room service menu. After two failed attempts at trying to get a light meal, this was our last choice. Guess what, no room service available and apparently hadn't been for some time, but why leave room service menus in each room. Myself and my poorly husband went to bed with two biscuits and a cup of tea. Not happy at all, my husband met with the manager the next morning who said she was not on duty at the time and apologised. This lack of full service did spoil what was otherwise a delightful stay, changes will be made I'm sure, but too late for us.

Dear Anne, I am really sorry that you encountered these problems during your stay when your husband was recuperating, we pride ourselves on personal service and your desire to have a meal in your room is totally understandable. Despite there being a number of services reduced due part to a COVID hangover and staff shortages. We should have picked up on this and provided some food for you in your room. We must apologise for this and thank you for bringing this matter to our attention, as you say this will be addressed as a service failure. We hope that you will return and we can delighted you with the seamless service you should have experienced in the first place.

What an amazing day/week at Balmer Lawn for daughter's wedding. We flew in from USA with the happy couple and guests from around the world. 3 days of events/dinners. Many stayed a week at the hotel. Ruth Mundy and her team were excellent and went out of their way to make this an incredible experience for all guests. Did everything but the dress and highly recommend it, the vendors (apart from the DJ) where amazing, Jo Hicks Flowers, Kimberely photographer, Sam from Linens, Salli hair etc etc. All did an amazing job to create our daughter's vision. Surprised guests with owls flying in rings and singing waiters which made the day and had the whole floor on their feet. Contact Ruth for information. Mark Bussell provided piano for 2 events - beautiful and Brock Ice provided ice cream cart. We had Gin Bar, Prosecco Bar and Pimms bar - all displayed and served beautifully. I could go on and on - Ruth worked with every suggestion I had and delivered all beautifully. Cannot say enough about the amazing time we had and how the staff went over and beyond to meet our needs. Do not hesitate to book Balmer for your wedding
