We are on a small road trip around Cornwall so this review was based on just one night stay. We stayed in room 7 which I guess was one of the best rooms with full sea views and a spacious balcony to sit out in the sunshine. You can see the owners have really invested in the hotel. The finish is modern with a boutique feel. We found the staff and the service very welcoming. Like much of Cornwall you did get a sense of the strain the hotel is under with the shear weight of bookings and demand both from the customers staying and the general public who were welcome to enjoy the lovely sun terrace to enjoy drinks. Overall book with confidence. The hotel must be one of the best in Bude certainly it has one of the best locations. We could even pop out before dinner(sadly hotel dinning closed at present also certainly lack of staff availability) to have a dip in the magnificent sea pool on a few minutes walk away. The hotel does not have the x factor but not many do.

Really wanted to like this hotel as it was Mr & Mrs Smith recommended and our last night stay after a week in Cornwall, but it was mediocre at best. Rooms are pleasent but not memorable, however the bed was very comfy and the Dysan fan definitely earned them an extra star! Toiletries were provided but instead of refills they were one time use in plastic sachets which didn't seem very environmentally friendly. The biggest let down was the staff and the service. Reading other reviews on here almost makes me wonder if we stayed in another hotel? Almost everyone we engaged with seemed completely uninterested in us. Went to check in and the two ladies there seemed really busy, but they were friendly enough. We were early so I asked on the off chance if our room was ready which it wasn't, but there was no offer to call us if it would be ready before 4pm. The breakfast was the opposite of smooth. I was initially very pleased when we came down and out table had been laid and already had water an orange juice, only to discover there were no glasses to drink from, which at this point was forgivable. After a few minutes a member of staff came to the table to ask of we wanted tea or coffee, so we ordered coffee and asked for some glasses for the juice. The coffee came out a couple of minutes later, but no glasses. Tried to get the attention from staff but no one even looked up as they were walking past us. After 5 min of trying to catch someone's eye I walked over to the kitchen and another member of staff and asked for glasses again and they were then provided. After another 5 min, the member off staff that we first engaged with came over to take out breakfast order, just to realise she hasn't given us a menu. She fetches one, and says she'll be back shortly to take our order. Another 10 min go by, 4 members of staff are running round the room, but it's impossible to get anyone's attention. There is only one other occupied table inside, but no one is waiting on the guests. After 25min at the table, my partner manages to flag down the initial member of staff again and asks if we can order our breakfast. She seems super surprised, but takes our order and we also order more coffee and juice as we've finished our drinks while waiting. We both order a conish breakfast with fried eggs. Breakfast then comes out, with one fried egg and one poached. They did offer to correct it but at this point I just want to get going so I just said I'll have the poached one. Breakfast was OK, but the poached egg was not runny at all. At no point during the breakfast does anyone check to see if we enjoying our meal, and when we get up to leave no one is saying goodbye or even acknowledging us. We head up to the room to fetch out stuff. My partner goes to brush his teeth so I lay down on the bed. Then a cleaning lady walks straight into the room without knocking. She got a full view of my bum, which was probably more traumatising for her than me lol. She apologised and said she'd been told we'd already checked out (which we would have if breakfast wasn't such an ordeal and took so long!). I then walked down to reception to check out, and no one is there. Didn't have to wait very long though until a lady turned up. She just said "hi" and "there's nothing to pay, you were debited when you checked in" and "thank you" when I gave her the key. She did not ask if we enjoyed our stay, have a nice day, or anything else. I've never experienced this in a hotel before. We've left without having a single proper conversation with any member of staff. If all you are looking for is a hotel in a good location with an OK bed, then this hotel will offer just that. If you are looking for good service and a warm reception, then I would not recommend staying here.

This small hotel is perfectly situated. A few minutes from the town and from the canal, and right by the beach. It is also right at the start of some beautiful walks. We had superb communications from the reception desk from the start and a very warm welcome. What really stood out for us was the consistency of this warm "nothing is too much trouble" attitude. You'll get this from reception, bar and restaurant staff and the cleaning staff too. Even with covid restrictions and some shortages, they work tirelessly and are absolutely charming. We had two rooms while there, upgrading for a few days when availability arose, to enjoy the sea view and in my opinion, this upgrade was well worth it. The views are spectacular from the room, but if you don't get this, don't worry, the bar and terrace are super places to enjoy your day and catch the sunset. Both rooms were fresh and clean with nice bathrooms, a Dyson fan, and a small fridge. One, a little bigger, had a bit more furniture but both were comfy. I found that the double bed was a bit too small for us, but I'm a bit of a 'sleep princess'. Because of covid, the restaurant only served food at breakfast time. We either ate out or used the order in services for dinner. You can bring your own food in and use the "cosy lounge" or use their partnership with The Deck and eat in the bar/restaurant area. Both worked well but it would be nice if the restaurant is open for dinner again before long. Walks around here are plenty and varied; some flat (along the canal, for example) others more challenging as you climb and descend the coastal paths. Thanks to a staff tip, we walked along the beach at low tide through several bays and took the coastal path back when the tide came in. We used the Cornwall map but since the routes are so well marked, you don't need it, though the app has interesting information about the sights and the area. We had such a good time that we are going back again in September.

Beach at Bude is a super hotel (I have stayed there before) in a fantastic location. The bar is really smart and has a terrace with the best views in Bude. The staff are lovely. So far, so good. They claim to serve cocktails but they are terrible. Miserable watery concoctions bearing no relation to what you would get in a proper cocktail bar. How a Negroni could turn up as a mess of ice and water with a hint of Campari I just don't know as it is about the easiest cocktail to make. I knew it was wrong from the colour (pale) and size (wrong glass, way too big and too much ice). My advice, order a G & T - they made that very well!

Just come back from a great week at the Beach at Bude. The location is great and the staff from start to finish were brilliant. We had room 14 which has a sea view. Very nice. It was clean and reasonable size. I thought parking would be an issue but actually got on the drive for a couple of days and then any other day we were on the road in front of the hotel within 20m or so. Short walk to the beach and into the town centre. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Brilliant location for a drink on the terrace watching the sun go down.
