“The Dreadnought lives up to its name.” Your score 4.2 Where shall I start? Firstly,my heart sank when I saw my room. The number had fallen off the door so I had to find it by a process of elimination. When I went inside it was absolutely freezing and stank of old cigarette smoke which had stuck to the walls.... The building looks lovely from the roadside, but it is far from it. The breakfast is disgusting, rooms are filthy, the hotel has just been neglected and is totally run down. The only nice thing about the hotel was the helpful man on reception. Moving on to the woman, who must be the manager as had their been someone there... More

I stayed in this apology for a hotel over a weekend and was appalled at the poor quality of the rooms and cleanliness. Chewing gum stuck to bedroom chair, shower not draining properly, poor quality shower head, rusting shower fittings, mildew, dirty light switch fittings, poor quality ageing carpets and all for£40 per night without breakfast. To say Fawlty Towers... More

The positives were that the staff were very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was good. Unfortunately the whole place is extremely tired and whilst that could be forgiven, there is absolutely no excuse for the rooms being filthy. The Windows haven't been washed for a considerable length of time and the lamp shades were full of dead flies and... More

We knew about the car park and we arrived early and didn't move car for weekend. On arrival the manager/owner was most unpolite. I would have to say that the bedding and towels were of good quality and clean, but the whole place is very tired. The staff tried their best, but were very hard worked and short staffed!!! On... If you're tempted go for a look around first. Cold, draughty, damp and that was at the end of summer! What a mistake I made in booking this. Wasn't expecting the Ritz but it does look reasonable enough at first glance.

Should be renamed the Dread hotel, four of us booked in for a 2 night stay but left after the first night, chef turned up an hour late for breakfast we approached the owner saying we were not happy and was told if he knew that the night before he would not have let us stay, he was the rudest... First impressions from the front were acceptable but it got worse from there. The car park at the rear was dodgy as anyone could gain access to the area and you had to drive over a dirt drive which had broken glass around. The room was ok but the staff NOT GOOD. We had the impression that they didn't want... More

Stayed with my partner for 3 nights in this hotel. Building is old and can do with some modernisations and diy without losing the historical features. We did not stay much in the hotel because we were there for some hill walking, what was good because it was not really appealing to stay in the hotel room. Strange smell in... More

Very old building. Decor not very nice and defo needs alot of improvement. Room was ok although I thought it smelt funny. Wouldn't go back or recommend to anyone. Food wasnt very nice either and limited options on the menu.Young girl working there was very good though.
