This is a hotel dating back to the 1200's with lots of character. The shared rooms were lovely with fires going in most of the rooms. There is even a small library and a hidden chapel on the main floor. These are rooms you can enjoy and the decor is lovely. Our room was on the small side with very... More

I have been passing through Callander all my life but had never thought to find this hotel; the entrance is hidden at the start of the high street and runs down to the River Teith. The hotel is 400 years old in parts and the communal rooms are steeped in history; it is rather dark as the windows are small... More

My wife and i stayed for one night as we were attending a wedding function here. Lovely, quaint old hotel with many unique features. Rooms are old fashioned and well worn but clean and comfortable. Grounds of the hotel are its best feature with the river and woodland areas. All in all would return but room rates are quite expensive... More

We stayed here for our 25th wedding anniversary for two wonderful days. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly, attentive and professional. The hotel itself is quite amazing with its various period rooms; the library, the drawing room and the fantastic dining room. The location by the river with the gardens to explore adds to the relaxed and... More

We stayed for one night in a suite (not that much more than a 'superior' room on a dinner baed and breakfast basis. We had the set menu, and the food was befitting of the chef's 3 rosettes. It was excellent. Breakfast the following morning was also cooked to perfection, and the choice could not be faulted. The staff are... More

My family recently stayed here on our way to Edinburgh from Glasgow, and we were consistently impressed at every turn. The hotel is located in a seventeenth-century house. The interior of the hotel is tastefully designed to emphasis the historic nature of the hotel. The common areas are absolutely gorgeous: a beautiful dining room, a fantastic bar replete with whisky... More

We made an unplanned stop here for one night on our way to Edinburgh, and were glad we did. We were given a reduced rate for a large superior room, which had a king bed, sofa and lovely large bathroom. Lots of windows looked out on a beautiful structured garden. However, it was warm, there was no A/C so we... More

My partner and I recently stayed at Roman Camp. We purchased a discount rate on a UK deals website for one night mid-week stay. We knew the room would be small and it was, but that is not the concern. I really wanted to love this place because it was highly recommended by friends. First let me say the grounds... More

We have just spent 2 nights here at the Roman Camp Hotel. The rooms have been decorated in a style in keeping with the age of the building. There are lots of wall lights however the shades do not allow for plentiful light. The bathroom was large, the jacuzzi bath a nice touch after a long walk. The open fires... More

This is a gem of a hotel. Hidden off the Main Street. Our room was a superior room overlooking a box hedge garden. It was clean and very comfortable with a jacuzzi bath in a large bathroom. The bar, lounge and library are quaint with lovely fires. The staff very helpful and courteous. We had the tasting menu for dinner,... More
