I have just come back from a lovely weekend at the Lubnaig Guesthouse. Fantastic accommodation, and fabulous service, from the hosts and their staff. Breakfast was delicious, with lots of choice. We felt very looked after during our stay. Would definitely recommend.

I am further writing another review as the owner so kindly responded in a rude and untrue way which seems to be the case on other reviews if they are not 100% positive. Unless you are sure you can fit into the expectations of the owner and be happy with every minute of your stay then I would avoid. The breakfast was awful and DESPITE letting staff know and having a new pot of coffee sent to our table, it was still lukewarm and there were items missing from our plates. DESPITE the owner thinking she told us where to go for tea, she didn't, we went better and dined in the lovely Roman Camp Hotel restaurant where the food was heavenly and served butler style. We did not feel welcome at all and couldn't leave quick enough. The room we stayed in was shabby with fixtures and fittings broken and covered in cobwebs

Lovely old building in good settings, short walk from the centre of Callander, hosts were lovely, we opted to eat in the hotel on the night to a set menu, but did not know what we were getting, we had a aurburgine starter which was nice, then had steak for main meal, but were never asked how we would like it cooked, came rare not my preferred choice medium for me, just found that very strange, but overall a nice place

We only stayed one night at this beautiful property but wished we could have stayed longer. It is in an excellent location and very peaceful. Francesca and Stefano were friendly, welcoming and were wonderful hosts. We booked two rooms, and both were lovely. The beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic and set us up for the day. Our only disappointment was that we hadn't booked in advance for dinner. We would definitely do this in future.

This is a beautiful guest house which is spotlessly clean. Stephano and Francesca are great hosts who make you feel very welcome. We had a room on the ground floor which was lovely and suited us perfectly. We had a lovely freshly cooked breakfast both mornings. Would definitely book this guesthouse again as could not find any faults

Overall I would recommend this Guest House if you are visiting Callander. On the positive side - the accommodation was very modern and in a great location in central Callander. Everything you would expect was provided including fresh towels, sheets, good quality toiletries, tea/coffee/biscuits, and cups/glasses. Bed was super comfy. The owners are lovely and super friendly. Breakfast was plentiful, freshly cooked and delicious and included in the price - I wish I had been more hungry! On the not so positive side - there were a few things made it not a perfect review. We were staying in the Coach House as it was over Hogmanay and we didn’t want to disturb anyone in the main house coming home after midnight. Whilst this was better for privacy we felt there were some issues with the Coach House. Firstly it was pretty cold at times with the heating controlled in the central house. There were heaters in the cupboard but we only discovered these on the 2nd day (we weren’t told they were there). Also the double duvet wasn’t big enough for two adults so that added to the cold feeling. Secondly the layout of the Coach House is just strange. The bigger room has two single beds and bigger bathroom whilst the smaller room has a double bed which takes up most of the room. The double bed also sits far too close to the bathroom - literally centimetres from the sliding bathroom door. The rooms need swapped over to make a better master suite. Also the Coach House is literally just two bedrooms with no communal space which would have been nice. Our friends stayed in the Caravan Park for a much cheaper price and had so much more space (although the caravan park is a little further out of town). There is however a guest lounge in the main house but we didn’t use it. Thirdly the Coach House was quite expensive but maybe this was because it was over Hogmanay. Finally I had read that one of the owners was a great chef and it’s one of the things that attracted us to book with them. It was advertised that you can book dinner a few days in advance for a minimum of four people and have a good quality meal in the main house. We were looking forward to it! However when I contacted the owners a few days before to book dinner I was told this would not be possible as they had family commitments. I understand that guest house owners cannot be available all the time and have family commitments but I would have appreciated knowing in advance that dinner booking was not an option for our stay. It meant we had to make other plans fairly last minute. We really did enjoy our stay and we’re not trying to be negative but simply trying to provide some constructive comments that would have turned our review from 4 to 5 stars!

I recently holidayed in Scotland and although my eventual destination was Glencoe I thought I would spend a few days in Callander as it's a few years since my last visit I spent quite some time looking at reviews of places to stay in the area, but finally settled on the Lubnaig after reading many positive reviews. I got in touch with Francesca who was most helpful and ended up booking a 3 night stay with them,so all was set.On arrival I was greeted warmly by Francesca and shown to my very lovely room after a chat over a nice cuppa. The room was excellent, very clean and the bed was most comfortable. All the breakfasts were superb and highly recommened. When I booked I noticed there were excellent reviews for the evening meals, which are served on certain evenings if there is sufficient demand,so I had asked for the meal on the Wednesday and Friday. It was good news on arrival that meals were on for both evenings.I have to say that the two evening meals I had were absolutely superb.....Stefano is a fabulous chef, assisted by Francesca and it was an experience to behold....was without doubt the icing on the cake for my stay and very reasonably priced. This is a simply wonderful establishment and the hosts are lovely people who deserve to have many years of sucessful ownership here....the Lubnaig comes with my highest recommendation and I would have no hessitation staying here again........thank you Francesca and Stefano for a wonderful stay.

Thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay at the wonderful Lubnaig Guest House in Callander. Beautifully presented Guest House spotlessly clean throughout. Great view from our room over the beautiful garden. Tasty home cooked breakfast with fresh organic produce. If we are ever in the area again would definitely re-book and hopefully this time we would book in for evening meal. Great stay. Thank You.

Charming old house with recently renewed beautiful and very clean rooms. Comfy beds, quality sheets and towels. There is everything you need in the room. The owners are superfriendly. The breakfast is excellent. In case you stay in Lubnaig when they prepare dinner, go for it. It was the best meal we had during four days in Callander. Until next time!
